I paid childsupport while housing and supporting my kids as a teacher or salesman and on welfare to the absent parent as it was cheaper than legal harassment and emotional scarring for my kids. Sometimes you take a hot to protect your kids from a unscrupulous zealous atty that just is looking to make a buck

Armand handled my divorce many years ago. He is very busy and if you are the type that needs your hand held during the whole process then you should look elsewhere. If you want a very knowledgeable attorney who will not gouge you for every email and second they spend on your case give him a call. He made my ex-wifes attorney look silly in count and saved me a ton of $.

Armand Carian defended me in my child custody case more than a decade ago. I was in court for seven years. I loved his tenacious personality and demeanor in court., He is very knowledgeable, honest, and helped me greatly. I am so thankful to have hired him. Mr. Carian doesn't charge outrageous legal fees and I will agree that the accounting of what I paid was strange. There was never a bill or a receipt. I would just send him a check every month when I had money. However, that is the job of Mr. Carian's assistant(s) and not his. No attorney does his own accounting, billing, and receipt mailout. My child custody case was extremely traumatizing to me, and I often called his office with questions and other matters. I will agree that at times, call backs were delayed, but I usually received a call back from him or his assistant Brenda. If you are a single parent with an abusive partner, hire Armand because he understands your situation.

I'm sorry to say I'm really disappointed with armond. My divorce itself was pretty smooth. I didn't get as much alimony as I thought I should but armond said it was as much as I could get. I was naive and didn't know I should have made provisions for the future. Now it's 10 years later and my ex has decided to stop paying me. I called armond several times telling his assistant that I needed his help. Never got a rainfall. I called again needing something specific from my file. No return call. If you need a excellent lawyer call Joyce gentry at gentry law firm. She's not cheap but that lady is knowledgeable experienced a real professional. She's clear and to the point. I wish she would have represented me from the start .I would t be in the situation I am now.

You can do so much better in a divorce attorney than going to Armand Carian. The person who recommended him to me is embarrassed because they knew he had issues. I expressed my concern to Mr. Carian and he had no interest in resolving the problems I experienced. Divorce can be emotional, so I waited over a month before writing this so there is no emotion, just fact. He gets two stars because he knows the law and a repetitive process he should make easy instead of difficult for his customers. I wish I would have hired the attorney my ex-wife hired and am thankful my ex did hire that person because it kept things calm. Rather than come to more conclusions myself, the following are my experiences, and you decide if he is right for you. (1) Upon my inquiry to him about a legal issue on a delinquent account payment, he sent an inflammatory letter (accused my ex-wife of wrongdoing) to my wife and wife’s attorney that was riddled with errors. He sent it without consulting with me or informing me it was being sent. He admitted at least twice to me that this was a mistake he made. I could overlook that... but... (2) He incorrectly sent my copy of the above letter to my ex-wife’s address even though I informed him of my new address long ago. I have that postmarked letter. I could overlook that... but... (3) In all of our personal interactions Mr. Carian seemed to spend about one-third of the time talking about niceties of life, his heritage, his family and connection with the Pope, and dealings with women. While very nice and enjoyable, he charged me for this time. I had to continually redirect him to the business at hand. In my experience, other attorney’s keep you on track and redirect you to business. But through these actions, Mr. Carian increased his billing time to me. (4) I inquired multiple times about monthly billing. None was provided by him orhis office. I provided a retainer up front. Staff continually said they didn’t do that. I asked for an accounting of my charges as we moved through the divorce. The staff would not provide one to me even though I requested it. They seemed to stop answering my calls. I called from a different phone number and they did answer. When I tried to understand why through a series of very calm questions why I could not get a bill, I was continually dismissed by, Tara, a staff member. She then said “Oh my God” to me when I asked another question. This was surprising and I asked why. When I mentioned I did not appreciate her saying “Oh my God” to me. She said “OK, I will let that one slide.” I documented this as it happened and sent it to Tara immediately with no real response. In other situations Tara was very nice, but did not consistently call me back or answer my emails. She blamed her lack of response on Mr. Carian. (5) Through diligence with my ex-wife, we kept costs down and Armand owed me a refund on the retainer. I had no idea how much it was because he would not send me a regular accounting each month even though I requested it. He delayed about three weeks sending me a refund although he knew I was in financial need. This delay impacted my finances. (6) In the accounting of his time, the first I had ever seen, I thought he inflated time; however, it was not that egregious to be of concern. Perhaps it is that he charged me for all the time he wanted to BS. What I did not like was that he charged me for a free consult for an hour that occurred over a year before I retained him. I requested to pay for his time at that consult and he said it was no charge. Now he reached back over a year before I retained him and charged me for that visit. That does not seem appropriate. (7) When I got the refund, Mr. Carian’s check bounced and caused me other return fees at my bank. As usual, I could not get a hold of him. I left a voicemail. Upon returning the call he did go to the bank and get me cash. This was all rather frustrating and impactful to my finances.
