The intake experience is fantastic! They must have sales people working on client intake. My experience with the actual attorneys was a different story. I came to Hecht family law based on their Google reviews and my intake process. I was going through a child custody modification case. I’ll admit that I hired my attorney late in my process once I realized I was losing. He had 35 days to prepare. Still enough time to do something!! My ex-husband was upset that I had moved on, and I honestly thought the judge would throw it out. Apparently, my being late to exchanges with my ex-husband proved me to be an uncooperative parent and inconsiderate of his parenting time. Newsflash moms, This is definitely not like tv and you do not have to be a bad mom to have your kid taken just an aggressive dad. I terminated my first attorney because we were not on the same page. My second attorney, Kyle, seemed to be the shark I needed but it was all talk. His performance was terrible. He wasn’t prepared for trial. He had barely reviewed my case, and it was clear because he had to take a couple of breaks to review materials after my husband’s attorney took her time obliterating us in court. In our breaks he would ask me simple questions that I had already communicated to him. He had one strategy and the judge shut down immediately. He had not prepared for anything else. He switched locations several times during trial on camera, from an office, to walking through a conference room, to his CAR!! A complete disregard for the process. In the final ruling, the judge said I didn’t come prepared with any evidence and he also had asked for witnesses. I was honest and told him I didn’t know I could. It played right into my husband’s hands that I am unprepared and not taking the process seriously, and have no regard for him as a parent. The judge said that I could return to court and start over but it was my fault for failing to provide any evidence to refute my ex-husband’s claim. My attorney’s response was that he had hoped to get another trial to fully assess the situation. In other words, he had not given my child or case much thought because he arrogantly thought he would get another trial and additional time to review. I sent him this email below to terminate the relationship. I’m a small business owner too and so I hate leaving reviews for other companies. I just wouldn’t want another mother to put their trust in this group of lawyers. 30 day hiring. My retainer was $7500. I replenished one time with an additional $1800. ************* Hi Kyle, I’m disappointed in yesterday’s trial. I’m not sure the outcome would’ve been any different based on the judge’s personal feelings, however, I would like to express my dissatisfaction with your performance. You were not prepared and it was very clear. Despite the constant shift in locations from where you presented, you had not read the details of the case that I provided to you. I sent several emails with details pertaining to my case and provided information to refute all of the claims made, including the claims of corporal punishment that you questioned me about during the case. Giles’s attorney was prepared with research, she was organized in her delivery and questioning, and she had precedents to support her stance. The judge made a statement yesterday that we didn’t have any witnesses and we didn’t provide any evidence to refute my ex-husband‘s claims. I’m not familiar with the law but a statement like that lets me know that our strategy and performance was poor. As such, I would like to terminate my contract with your law firm and go in a different direction.
Although divorce is not usually an easy choice at the best of times, I would highly recommend Lee to guide you through the process. He is very knowledgeable about different aspects that can help you make the right choice for your situation. While I am just starting the process, the guidance has been remarkable. I will update when it's all over.
From the very first conversation I had with Holly, she was absolutely amazing! This is such an extremely difficult time in my life and I completely felt at peace after talking with her. Then I had my consultation with Kristy, which I was able to get the same day, she was absolutely the most caring compassionate attorney. She listened to me and put me at such ease. I couldn't ask for a more perfect group of people for anyone going through such a difficult time.
I had an incredibly disappointing experience with Hecht Family Law Firm. They seemed more focused on draining my bank account than providing competent legal services. I was charged over $15,000, but much of the promised work was never completed. They only provided updates when I reached out then charged me for those conversations, even if I was speaking with their office staff instead of the attorney. Everything that you send to the attorney she talks it over with everyone in the office, and everyone gets paid. I call this (DOUBLE DIPPING). I was even charged $500.00 for them to watch 10-second or less videos that would've helped my case. The lack of transparency, professionalism, and follow-through made this an incredibly frustrating and costly experience. I would not recommend this firm to anyone. Save yourself the stress and money and look elsewhere for legal representation.
I was referred to Hecht Family Law Firm by a professional financial professional when I needed to update my will. I found this firm to be kind, knowledgeable and extremely helpful when discussing my wishes. What I needed was a little unusual but Ed and Kyle were able to do exactly what I needed. I knew I was in good hands at my very first meeting with them. I would strongly recommend this firm regarding any family law needs.
