Their core practice areas include Bankruptcy, Debt Management, Creditors Rights, and Consumer Protection. In the area of Consumer Protection, they assist individuals who believe they have been mistreated by businesses, enforcing state and federal consumer protection laws. This can involve claims for Unlawful Trade Practices, Unlawful Debt Collection Practices, violations of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, fraud, and invasion of privacy. Their willingness to handle these cases on a contingency fee basis for consumer protection matters means they do not get paid unless there is a recovery for the client, making legal help more accessible. This includes assisting debtors with understanding their options and pursuing the most suitable path to financial recovery. Conversely, they also represent Creditors, ensuring their rights are protected and assisting with collection litigation. This dual perspective on debtor/creditor law provides them with a comprehensive understanding of both sides of financial disputes. Their general practice also includes collaborative family law, basic estate planning, and business transactions, indicating a broad capacity to serve diverse client needs, though their strength lies in their core specialties.

This underscores the firm's dedication to taking cases seriously, regardless of perceived complexity by others. The feedback "we felt like he truly cared about helping us win to save our house" highlights a genuine client-focused approach and a strong sense of advocacy. The firm prides itself on providing "meaningful counsel" by understanding client needs and working to ensure clients know their choices and the pros and cons of each. Both Tim Eblen and Michelle Freed are admitted to practice in Oregon State and Federal Courts, with Tim also admitted in Washington State Courts and Michelle in Washington State and Idaho State Courts (inactive). Their background in creditor rights and litigation before co-founding Eblen Freed PC in 2011 provides them with a strong foundation in dispute resolution. Michelle Freed's co-authorship of a chapter on bankruptcy implications in family law matters for an Oregon State Bar publication further illustrates the firm's deep legal knowledge and commitment to the profession.

Emphasizing their expertise in "complex issue" that other lawyers might deem "too complicated" positions them as problem-solvers for challenging cases. Tim Eblen helped us with a complex issue regarding our house, and took the time to research our issue and present us options along with solid advice that we chose to follow, and we ended up avoiding court and fully winning our case . He was great at communicating and the entire case was done within the scope of the agreed upon retainer, and more importantly we felt like he truly cared about helping us win to save our house. We are just a regular, working class family without many assets so it was nice to be taken seriously by a law firm. We had contacted a previous lawyer for a free consult previously who basically told us our case was too complicated but Tim Eblen expressed an interest right from the beginning and took the time to gather all the necessary information and research the applicable laws so that we presented an air tight case, which worked out immensely in our favor in the end. We are very satisfied with the service we received here!

Tim Eblen was excellent. I had a somewhat complicated case and had been to two lawyers before him. They didn’t take me seriously enough to really look deep into my case. But Tim listened and read everything thoroughly. My case was time sensitive so he worked quickly and communicated with me the entire way. I’m so happy to be done, end up on the right side of it, and move on with my life!

As a retired attorney from a large firm with a practice that included litigation cases, I worked with many attorneys. I also supervised associates and wrote annual reviews. I recently had my own personal case that required consumer expertise. I had tried to handle it myself, but with no success. The other side just ignored me. When I took it to Tim Eblen, he noted the theories for my case, a right to recover fees and the statute of limitations, then immediately went to work. And he was successful. In less than a month without litigation, he obtained an excellent settlement for me with a refund. Tim is successful because he is smart, he really knows the law and how to get results, and he listens. And unlike many lawyers, he is well organized, careful, extremely efficient, prompt and responsive. Tim gets an A+ rating from this old lawyer.

I couldn't be happier with this firm, especially Michelle Freed. I was referred to her by a different attorney, and retained her to negotiate a settlement with an old credit card debt, which involved a judgment and lien on my house. She did it in an efficient and professional manner with a positive outcome. Due to their efficient no nonsense way of doing business, the matter didn't cost me an arm and a leg like I had expected. Would definitely use this firm again if needed for most any legal maters pertaining to debt and/or bankruptcy.

Michelle Freed helped me resolve my issue very quickly and professionally If you need a lawyer for a consumer issue, she will be the one to help. She was very honest with my fee. I received a check for the amount that she didn't use to resolve my case.
