St Andrew Legal Clinic Introduce

Welcome to the Nearby Lawyers platform, your local resource for connecting with legal services in your community. Today, we introduce St Andrew Legal Clinic, an organization located at 2950 SE Stark St in Portland, Oregon. Legal clinics often serve a vital role in providing access to justice for individuals who may face financial barriers to obtaining legal representation. While the provided information includes both a positive and a highly negative review, we aim to present an objective introduction based on the available details.

The location of St Andrew Legal Clinic on Southeast Stark Street suggests it serves the local community in that area of Portland. Legal clinics are typically established to offer legal assistance to individuals who may not be able to afford traditional attorney fees. The environment of a legal clinic can vary; however, the primary focus is usually on providing accessible legal services rather than opulent surroundings. Clients might expect a functional and professional setting where they can discuss their legal issues with an attorney or legal staff.

Given the name "St Andrew Legal Clinic," it is highly probable that the organization operates as a non-profit or low-cost legal service provider. Legal clinics often focus on specific areas of law where there is a significant need for accessible representation. Based on the reviews, it appears that at least one area of focus for St Andrew Legal Clinic may be family law. The services typically offered by a legal clinic can include:

  • Legal Consultations: Providing initial meetings to discuss legal issues and potential options.
  • Legal Advice: Offering guidance and counsel on legal rights and responsibilities.
  • Representation in Court: In some cases, providing legal representation in court proceedings, particularly for individuals who meet specific eligibility criteria.
  • Document Preparation: Assisting with the preparation of legal documents.
  • Referrals to Other Resources: Connecting clients with other relevant social services or legal organizations when appropriate.

It is important to note that the scope of services offered by a legal clinic can be limited based on their funding, staffing, and areas of focus. Individuals seeking assistance should directly inquire about the specific services they provide and the eligibility criteria for receiving help.

The features of St Andrew Legal Clinic, as perceived by the reviewers, present a mixed picture:

  • Dedication and Hard Work (Positive Review): One reviewer specifically praised Connie Lukes for her hard work and dedication in representing them on a difficult case with time constraints, recommending her highly. This suggests that at least some of the legal professionals associated with the clinic are committed and effective.
  • Potential Financial Barriers (Negative Review): A significant concern raised in one review is the perceived high cost of services quoted by an attorney at the clinic, which was stated to be similar to that of more successful local attorneys. This raises questions about the accessibility of their services for low-income individuals, which is often the target demographic for legal clinics.
  • Negative Experience with Family Law (Negative Review): Another reviewer expressed extreme dissatisfaction, alleging a negative outcome in a child custody case where financial constraints were cited as a primary factor. This review also mentions a cynical view of family law as a "lucrative market" and refers to lawyers in the field as operating within "the grinder." This paints a concerning picture of this individual's experience with the clinic.
  • Impact on Vulnerable Individuals (Negative Review): The same negative review highlights the severe personal consequences experienced by the client and their child, including allegations of psychological abuse and a subsequent diagnosis of psychosis in the child. While these are serious allegations, it is important to remember that legal outcomes are complex and can be influenced by numerous factors.

Given the stark contrast in the provided reviews, it is difficult to draw definitive conclusions about the overall features and effectiveness of St Andrew Legal Clinic. The positive review suggests that some individuals have received competent and dedicated legal assistance. However, the highly negative review raises serious concerns about the accessibility of their services for low-income individuals and the outcomes achieved in at least one family law case.

Currently, there is no promotional information available for St Andrew Legal Clinic in the provided data. Legal clinics typically operate on a non-profit basis and may not engage in traditional marketing or promotional activities. Their ability to provide services often depends on grants, donations, and volunteer efforts. Individuals seeking assistance from the clinic should inquire about any fees associated with their services and any potential eligibility requirements for free or reduced-cost legal aid.

If I could give negative stars I would. Even one start is too good for this scam. I’m a DV survivor with a special needs child who lost custody solely because I had no money as the stay home parent. The attorney I spoke with gave me same quote I had from more successful local attorneys…4k! Who has 4k just laying around? Certainly not low income folks. My son is in his abusive father’s custody and is now diagnosed with psychosis from the psychological abuse he has to live with because of the lucrative family law market. Did you know these lawyers refer to family law as “the grinder” ? Save your money and sanity for a 5 start attorney.

I'm a male victim of abuse whose former partner made me houseless, stole my money, waged a campaign of character assassination, and forcefully separated me from my children. St. Andrew staff never answered the phone, rarely returned calls, and then assigned me a lawyer who was too busy to take my case and implied I was being manipulative for discussing my trauma. I wouldn't recommend this office even for the desperate - I am desperate and they didn't even try for me.

What a blessing. I could not afford an attorney so I came to St Andrew's Legal Clinic during the $35 cash evening interview. They heard my issue and quoted me a rate that I could sort of afford. The attorney took excellent care of my case and got me a great resolution. They have been patient when I have had payment issues. In a nutshell, they have totally stood by me and I have already referred others to their services.
