  • Positive Experience with a Specific Attorney: One reviewer specifically praises attorney Dawn Titus-Rogan for her knowledge, responsiveness, and proactive communication. The client also appreciated her cost-effective advice regarding asset discovery. This positive feedback suggests that the quality of service can vary depending on the individual attorney.
  • Negative Experience with Another Attorney: In stark contrast, another reviewer expresses extreme dissatisfaction with attorney Sandra Zegarra, describing her as inexperienced, lacking attention to detail and integrity, and prejudiced. The client alleges multiple failures in her representation, including not securing visitation time due to a failure to draft a verbal agreement.
  • Concerns Regarding Financial Handling: The negative review also details significant issues with the finance department, including misplaced payments, disrespectful treatment, and false accusations of non-payment, which were later acknowledged with an apology from management.
  • Unprofessional Conduct by Paralegal: The same negative review mentions a paralegal who allegedly provided unauthorized legal guidance and suggested the client leave the firm if dissatisfied, raising concerns about the firm's internal culture and client care standards.
  • Allegations of Prioritizing Money Over Client Needs: The dissatisfied client explicitly states their belief that the firm was primarily focused on fees and that their attorney did not demonstrate the expected ethics and dedication to legal representation.
  • Recommendation to Review Bar Records: The negative reviewer strongly advises potential clients to review the Virginia Bar records for attorney Sandra Zegarra's experience and any possible complaints before hiring her or the firm.

  • Inquire about the firm's communication protocols and how you can expect to receive updates on your case.
  • Thoroughly discuss the firm's fee structure and payment policies, ensuring clarity on all potential costs.

For users in our "Nearby Lawyers" category, the feedback regarding Cordell & Cordell in Falls Church, VA, presents a cautionary tale. I moved with my attorny Dawn Titus-Rogan to Cordell and Cordell when she left her old firm. She has been knowledgeable and responsive, keeping me abreast of my case and providing advice to complete the documentation to prepare for a court date. She has recommended to me the least cost means to obtain information regarding assets and holdings without having to go through a full discovery process. I would recommend Dawn and her team at Cordell and Cordell.

The worse decision I ever made was to trust a firm that lacked integrity and courtesy. The attorney provided by this firm, Sandra Zegarra was inexperienced and lacked attention to details and integrity overall. I never met an attorney who was provided with all of the confirming details that will allow her to built a strong case against opposing counsel and yet she treated my case with prejudice due to her inexperience and lack of confidence. In addition, attorney Zegarra failed me multiple times, to include getting me time for visitation because she failed to draft her verbal agreement with opposing counsel among many other mistakes. Furthermore, the finance department misplaced many of my payments and they had to review my file and apologize for their oversight, yet they treated me with no respect and even hung up on me and accused me of failure to provide payments which was not true and an apology was extended to me from management. Moreover, a second paralegal that replaced the original person and only person with ethics, also took it upon herself to provide guidance and her opinion as if she was the attorney herself, and went as far to tell me that if I did not like them, to go ahead and drop them. This is the way this firm allows their employees to care for their clients. This firm lacks integrity, and most important they lack experienced attorneys with the desire to fight for the rights of what they advertise. Do yourself a favor and review the Virginia Bar and make sure you see the years of experience and possible complaints before hiring Sandra Zegarra from Cordell and Cordell. I will not recommend this firm. They were only after money and she never demonstrated the ethics and sworn duties of her legal representation.

One of the worst front desk/customer service rep. Rude, unsympathetic, demanding and unprofessional. She (Allison) arranged a paid consultation for me to meet the lawyer. I was set on retaining the lawyer I spoke with and provided the paperwork and had the money ready to pay full. That was until the front desk POC made small miniscule things as excuses, causing me unnecessary hassle, and delayed my retaining paperwork. She did not properly upload my papers and I was again delayed to make my payments to retain the lawyer. She tells me I missed an artificial deadline and decides to not take my case like she is a lawyer (she hung up the phone on me). Now just a few days before my hearing, I am stuck without any lawyer. All my time was wasted by Cordell n Cordell for hiring such untrained reps.

Update: This firm hurt my case more than I initially realized. They actually gave the opposing counsel wrong info in writing that they ended up using against me to make it harder to get a fair custody and child support outcome. This low-quality law firm is in disarray. They represented me in Northern Virginia in 2020 and I am still dealing with the impact of their negligence. The attorney assigned to me was disorganized and billed me for the same items multiple times. What is worse is that on my trial date they were unprepared, confused, and literally took advice and information on Virginia statutes from the opposing counsel. Thousands of dollars spent, horrible results. I ended up representing myself with the guidance of a Virginia attorney who actually knows the law, process, strategy, etc. It went much better once I fired Cordell but I was never able to fully rectify the damage they did to my case for rights and access to my son.
