For individuals in the Charlotte, North Carolina area seeking legal representation and searching within the "Nearby Lawyers" category, White Barbara L is an attorney with an office located at 1101 South Blvd, Charlotte, NC 28203. Online client reviews present a conflicting view of the services provided by Ms. White and her paralegal, Judy Nies. One review details a highly negative experience regarding a bankruptcy case and subsequent refund, while another offers strong positive feedback. This introduction aims to provide local users with an objective overview of the firm's likely environment, potential services (specifically bankruptcy), and critically, the features and promotional aspects as perceived through these divergent client experiences.
Environment and Location:
Situated on South Boulevard in Charlotte, North Carolina, the office of White Barbara L is located in a commercial area of the city. A street-level address suggests accessibility for clients. While the reviews do not offer specific details about the office ambiance, clients can likely expect a setting suitable for legal consultations. The accessibility of the Charlotte location makes it a potential option for individuals seeking legal assistance in the region, particularly those considering bankruptcy.
Services Offered:
The client reviews provide direct insight into at least one area of law handled by White Barbara L: bankruptcy. One review explicitly discusses engaging Ms. White for a bankruptcy case. Based on this information, it is reasonable to infer that White Barbara L offers services in:
- Bankruptcy Law: Assisting individuals in filing for bankruptcy under various chapters of the U.S. Bankruptcy Code. This would involve assessing financial situations, preparing necessary documentation, and representing clients in bankruptcy proceedings.
- Other Potential Areas: While bankruptcy is the only area mentioned in the provided reviews, Ms. White may also offer services in other areas of law. However, without further information, it is not possible to definitively list these.
Individuals seeking legal assistance in areas other than bankruptcy should contact the office directly to inquire about Ms. White's full range of services.
Features and Expertise (Based on Conflicting Reviews):
The available client reviews present a stark contrast in the perceived features and expertise associated with White Barbara L and her paralegal:
- Initial Financial Consideration (Positive Aspect): One client noted that Ms. White applied their initial $100 consultation fee towards the bankruptcy fees, which could be seen as a client-friendly practice.
- Alleged Lack of Communication and Transparency (Negative Review): The negative review details a lack of communication regarding the case status, no provision of statements, and no apparent collection of necessary financial information despite partial payments being made over a significant period.
- Dispute Over Refund (Negative Review): A key issue in the negative review is the client's claim for a $250 refund due to their inability to proceed with bankruptcy, which Ms. White allegedly refused. This raises concerns about billing practices and client fund management.
- Conflicting Accounts of Communication (Negative Review): Ms. White claimed to have worked on the case for over two hours and spoken with the client about it, which the client vehemently denies, stating the only calls were to inform the office of payments. This discrepancy highlights a significant breakdown in communication and trust.
- Positive Feedback on Professionalism, Thoroughness, Helpfulness, and Kindness (Positive Review): In direct contrast, another client describes Attorney Barbara White and paralegal Judy Nies as "very professional, thorough, helpful, and kind," and expresses being "very pleased with the guidance and expertise they provided." This suggests a positive experience for at least one client.
- Efficient Paralegal (Positive Review Implication): The positive mention of paralegal Judy Nies implies competent support staff within the office.
The extreme divergence in these reviews makes it crucial for potential clients to weigh these contrasting experiences carefully. The negative review raises serious concerns about communication, billing, and client service in bankruptcy cases, while the positive review suggests a satisfactory experience for another client, potentially in a different area or under different circumstances.
Promotional Information (As Perceived Through Conflicting Feedback):
The conflicting client reviews create a challenging promotional landscape for White Barbara L:
- Potential Positive Aspects to Highlight: The positive review praising professionalism, thoroughness, helpfulness, and kindness could be used to promote a client-focused approach and a supportive legal team including paralegal Judy Nies. The initial application of the consultation fee towards bankruptcy costs could also be presented as a client benefit.
- Significant Negative Aspects to Address: The allegations of poor communication, lack of transparency, disputed refund, and conflicting accounts of contact in the negative review are serious concerns that would likely deter potential clients. Addressing these issues directly and demonstrating improved practices would be essential to rebuild trust.
- Importance of Context: Without knowing the specifics of each client's situation and the timeframe of these reviews, it is difficult to ascertain if these experiences are representative of the current state of the practice.
Any promotional materials for White Barbara L should ideally acknowledge the importance of clear communication and fair billing practices, perhaps highlighting the positive aspects mentioned in one review while addressing the concerns raised in the other, if possible.
Connecting with White Barbara L:
Local users in the Charlotte area who are considering legal services from White Barbara L can contact the office at 1101 South Blvd. The provided phone numbers are (704) 375-9411 and +1 704-375-9411. However, given the starkly contrasting client experiences, particularly the serious allegations in the negative review regarding a bankruptcy case, potential clients are strongly advised to conduct thorough due diligence. This should include asking detailed questions about communication protocols, billing practices, and seeking references specifically for bankruptcy cases if that is their need. A thorough initial consultation where these concerns can be directly addressed would be essential before making a decision.
In conclusion, White Barbara L in Charlotte, NC, presents a mixed profile based on the limited online client reviews. While one client reported a positive experience with her and her paralegal, another detailed significant issues with communication, transparency, and billing in a bankruptcy matter. Potential clients should carefully consider these contrasting accounts and exercise caution when evaluating White Barbara L for their legal needs. Thorough investigation and direct communication with the firm about their current practices are strongly recommended to ensure a well-informed decision.

I first called Ms. White to consider a bankruptcy case for myself. Instead of charging me a $100 consultation fee, she applied my $100 toward the bankruptcy fees. I then made a few more payments totaling $350, which my last payment was in 2009. I am currently unemployed and cannot afford to file bankruptcy right now. I received a letter from her recently stating she was closing my case with no regards to my payments I made. I should receive a $250.00 refund since I cannot afford to pay for a bankruptcy. Upon calling her Paralegal twice I received no return phone call. The third phone call I made I spoke with Ms. White. She insisted she worked on my case for over 2 hours. She has never sent me a statement and has never received any information concerning my financial situation, statement, bills or forms that need to be completed before a bankruptcy can even begin. She claims that we spoke on the phone concerning my case but the only phone calls I made was to let them know I was mailing them payments. This lady took $250 of my money and refuses to send it to me. Keep in mind that the money she has was placed in an account that probably draws interest, which I could care less about. I just need my refund of $250. I am reporting her to Raleigh and it is my advise....DO NOT USE THIS ATTORNEY FOR ANYTHING...She does not care......
Attorney Barbara White and paralegal Judy Nies are very professional, thorough, helpful, and kind. I’m very pleased with the guidance and expertise they provided.
Very professional and dependable!
