US Bankruptcy Court Introduce
For local users, including legal professionals utilizing the "Nearby Lawyers" platform for their practice or clients seeking information related to legal proceedings, this section provides details about the US Bankruptcy Court located at 721 19th St, Denver, CO 80202. While not a lawyer or legal service provider itself, the courthouse is a crucial institution within the legal ecosystem, serving as the venue for bankruptcy proceedings.
The US Bankruptcy Court in Denver is currently housed in what a recent reviewer describes as a "beautiful" and "classy" building. This marks a change from its previous location on Sherman Street in the 1980s, which has since been repurposed into a hotel. The current environment appears to offer a more modern and aesthetically pleasing setting for legal proceedings. According to a user, the courtrooms underwent remodeling a few years ago and now have a "cool" appearance, suggesting an effort to maintain a professional and updated atmosphere.
A significant feature of the current location is the reported installation of bulletproof glass in all the windows. This detail underscores a focus on security and safety within the courthouse environment, which is a standard consideration for judicial facilities. Users visiting the courthouse should be aware of security protocols, as one reviewer explicitly mentions the necessity of presenting identification to gain entry.
In terms of services directly offered to the public and legal professionals, the primary function of the US Bankruptcy Court is to administer bankruptcy cases under the Bankruptcy Code. This involves:
- Filing of Bankruptcy Petitions: Individuals and businesses seeking bankruptcy relief file their petitions with the court.
- Conducting Hearings and Proceedings: The court holds various hearings, including those related to asset liquidation, debt discharge, and reorganization plans.
- Judicial Oversight: Bankruptcy judges preside over cases, interpret the law, and make rulings on legal matters related to bankruptcy.
- Maintaining Records: The court maintains official records of all bankruptcy cases filed within its jurisdiction.
- Providing Access to Information: The court provides access to case information for parties involved and the public, within legal limitations.
It's important to note some recent changes in the court's operations, as highlighted by a long-time observer. The first meeting of creditors, a crucial step in many bankruptcy cases, is no longer held at this location but across the street at the Byron Rogers building. Additionally, the courthouse no longer has a cafeteria in the basement, likely due to the increased ability for lawyers to appear for many hearings by phone, resulting in fewer people needing on-site amenities. These changes reflect adaptations in court procedures and technology.
Despite these changes, the US Bankruptcy Court in Denver remains a central hub for bankruptcy-related legal activities in the region. Local lawyers specializing in bankruptcy law will frequently interact with this court on behalf of their clients. The efficient functioning of the court is essential for the legal community and individuals facing financial distress.
One particularly noteworthy feature, based on a user review, is the exceptional service provided by the court clerks. They are described as "extremely friendly" and "helpful," going "out of their way to assist people." This positive feedback regarding the court staff suggests a supportive environment for those navigating the often complex process of bankruptcy. For lawyers and their clients alike, helpful and efficient court staff can significantly ease the administrative burdens associated with legal proceedings.
Promotional information in the traditional sense is not applicable to a courthouse. However, the positive review regarding the helpfulness of the clerks can be seen as an indication of the court's commitment to public service and facilitating access to the legal system. This can be a significant factor for local users, including lawyers, when dealing with the court.
In conclusion, while the US Bankruptcy Court at 721 19th St in Denver is not a lawyer or legal service provider listed under "Nearby Lawyers," it is a vital institution for the administration of bankruptcy law in the region. Local users, including legal professionals, can expect a modern and secure environment with remodeled courtrooms. While some services and procedures have evolved, the court continues to serve its essential function, reportedly staffed by friendly and helpful clerks. For any inquiries or specific information regarding court procedures, contacting the court directly at (720) 904-7300 or +1 720-904-7300 is recommended.

I remember when the bankruptcy court used to be at 1845 Sherman Street, Denver Colorado. That was way back in the 1980s. Judge Clark, Judge McGrath were some of the judges there. Now the building is a hotel. The current location is quite classy. Courtrooms were remodeled a few years back and wow, does it look cool! I understand that all the windows were replaced with bullet proof glass. Unfortunately, there is no longer a cafeteria in the basement since lawyers can now appear by phone for most hearings. Plus, the first meeting of creditors is no longer in this building but across the street at the Byron Rogers building. So even fewer people really go to this building. Oh well, what can you do?
Housed in a beautiful building, the Bankruptcy Court is staffed by extremely friendly, helpful clerks who go out of their way to assist people. Please be aware that you will need ID to get through security.
My case was treated more like a consolidation scam. I am still making payments a year and a half later. I received no support from anyone and I'm sure my case was mishandled and tossed around. I AM GOING TO NEED TO FILE BANKRUPTCY TO PAY FOR MY BANKRUPTCY. Thanks a lot, this really does NOT help me during these times!
