Multiple online reviews paint a concerning picture of his professional conduct and legal abilities. These reviews raise significant issues that potential clients should be aware of before considering his services.
One reviewer explicitly advises against hiring Matthew Tucker as a defense attorney, stating, "If you ever need a defense attorney, hire literally anyone but Matthew Tucker." This strong condemnation is supported by a list of alleged unprofessional behaviors observed during a trial the reviewer watched online. These allegations include:
- Tardiness or Absence: The reviewer claims Mr. Tucker is "late or doesn't show up at all," which would severely impact a client's legal proceedings and demonstrate a lack of professionalism and commitment.
- Disrespectful Behavior: The review alleges disrespect towards judges, fellow attorneys, and witnesses. Such behavior is considered highly inappropriate in a courtroom setting and can negatively affect the client's case due to strained relationships with the court and other legal professionals.
- Unprofessional Outbursts: The reviewer describes instances where Mr. Tucker allegedly "stomps his feet and flails his arms like a child" when he does not get his way. This behavior is described as unprofessional and unbecoming of a legal representative in a courtroom.
- Disorganization: The reviewer notes that Mr. Tucker is "quite disorganized," which could lead to errors, missed deadlines, and a general mishandling of a client's case.
Another review details a personal interaction with Matthew Tucker during a consultation. This reviewer describes him as "extremely phoney and obnoxious," using a colorful analogy ("a maestro x Miami vice") to convey a negative impression of his demeanor. The reviewer also states that some of the legal information Mr. Tucker provided was "odd and/or completely off and/or contradictory to other lawyers," even to someone with limited legal knowledge at the time. This raises concerns about the accuracy and reliability of his legal advice.
Furthermore, this second reviewer explicitly echoes the sentiment of the first, advising potential clients to "hire literally anyone else." They also describe their consultation as a waste of time and suggest that even "law students with a B average" would possess more basic legal knowledge. The reviewer concludes with a highly negative characterization of Mr. Tucker as a "Dollar tree lawyer" who is still overpriced.
A third reviewer, who observed Matthew Tucker during a specific trial online, corroborates the claims of unprofessional behavior and lack of basic legal understanding. This review alleges the following:
- Arguing with the Judge on Basic Matters: The reviewer claims Mr. Tucker argued with the judge on fundamental procedural issues that even non-legal professionals familiar with trials would understand, such as when he was permitted to examine a witness.
- Lack of Understanding of Examination Types: The reviewer states that Mr. Tucker did not know the difference between direct, cross, and redirect examination, which is considered a fundamental aspect of trial procedure known to legal students and even many true crime enthusiasts. This raises serious questions about his basic legal competence.
- Disrespect Towards the Court: The reviewer reiterates the claim of disrespect towards the judge and the court, emphasizing that this is detrimental to the client's case for numerous reasons.
- Openly Unprofessional Reactions: The reviewer describes Mr. Tucker "making faces and openly groaning out loud" when unhappy with court rulings, labeling this behavior as "unprofessional."
This third review concludes by stating that it seemed as though Mr. Tucker had "never seen a court proceeding or even application of legal process" and again advises potential clients to hire anyone else, including law students, and to seek someone with basic manners. The reviewer reinforces the extremely negative assessment of his professional abilities and demeanor.

This guy represented Hannah Payne, and performed HORRIBLY in court. He's late or doesn't show up at all, disrespectful to judges, fellow attorneys, and witnesses. When he doesn't get his way he stomps his feet and flails his arms like a child. He's also quite disorganized. If you ever need a defense attorney, hire literally anyone but Matthew Tucker.
About 2 years ago, there was an incident at the apartment complex where we lived while I was on an overnight trip. My partner was home alone studying at the time and had useful information that he wanted to volunteer to the police in case it was of help. We then found out that it had actually ended up being a murder case involving a sexual element. We were 1st year students but I was pursuing a law degree and thought we should consider getting counsel to protect ourselves. We shopped around and visited Tucker - it was an odd experience let me tell you that. Firstly, he was extremely phoney and obnoxious - a maestro x Miami vice is how I’d describe it. As if we were clueless and would eat up everything he said as words of Aristotle himself lol. And even though I didn’t know much back then (we are also not from the states), some things he said were just odd and/or completely off and/or contradictory to other lawyers. We ended up choosing another lawyer which was at a lower rate (and ultimately didn’t really need much of the service at all as there was evidence to rule out bf completely). I was just scrolling YouTube when the Hannah Payne trial came up on my feed and there he was!! Just the first video I played (defendant testifying) had him: - arguing with the judge on laughable matters that even a layperson who’s ever watched a trial or two would know (eg not knowing when he’s allowed to examine the witness) - not knowing the difference between direct, cross, redirect examination (WHAT!! Not only do legal students know this, I’d say most true crime fans or just anyone who’s been on YouTube a lot would too) - completely disrespectful of the judge and the court which anyone in the legal field knows is a no no for about 10 different reasons, most of it it disadvantages the case for the client - making faces and openly groaning out loud when he’s unhappy about a (fair) ruling. Never seen anything so unprofessional before! It’s like this guy has never seen a court proceeding or even application of legal process! Thank god we didn’t waste anything other than our time with this guy (got a good laugh and some can say an experience…). Like the other commentator said, hire literally anyone else - including law students with a B average and they’d know more (at least the basics). And try to get someone who can at least pretend to have some semblance of manners - just don’t use him as the baseline for that lol. Dollar tree lawyer if there ever was one (and it’d still be overpriced).

Once again I'm writing to bring awareness to Clayton County Court System defendants are being housed inside inside of the Clayton County jail for over the one-year limit they are going to court more than 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 10 times dependents have no speedy trial the the governor's office is not concerned with the citizens of Clayton County if you go to jail inClayton County you are just automatically guilty and no chance of bond reductions. The judge the prosecutor are all working together in Clayton County the prosecutor running for judge in Fulton County but he can't be impartial as a prosecutor how can he be impartial as a judge. The law is not being followed so I'm wondering is this prejudice. Any lawyer coming out of law school could have filed the proper motions to have this case dismissed so why is a trial lawyer experience trial lawyer having problems resolving this case is it racism or is it Clayton County is following some of Jim Crow's law
