The Millard Law Firm Introduce

This profile addresses The Millard Law Firm, located at 318 Maxwell Rd Suite 600, Alpharetta, GA 30009, USA, and listed under the "Nearby Lawyers" category. It is crucial to note that the available reviews present significant concerns regarding the services provided by the firm, particularly concerning Marcy Millard's role as a Guardian Ad Litem (GAL) in family court cases.

Due to the serious nature of the allegations made in the reviews, a standard introduction highlighting positive attributes cannot be objectively presented. Instead, this profile will focus on conveying the information found in the reviews to ensure local users are aware of the reported experiences before considering The Millard Law Firm for their legal needs.

The recurring theme in the provided reviews is overwhelmingly negative, specifically directed towards Marcy Millard and her conduct as a Guardian Ad Litem. One reviewer explicitly states they are waiting until their child turns 18 to share a "thorough review about our negative experience with Marcy Millard as Guardian Ad Litem," indicating a deeply concerning and potentially impactful situation for the child involved. This individual encourages others to research and speak with other parents before agreeing to have Marcy Millard appointed as a GAL, suggesting a pattern of unsatisfactory experiences within the community.

This same reviewer expresses a desire to "negate further abuses of the broken family court system" and believes that reform should start with limiting the power of GALs, specifically naming Marcy Millard. They also refer to other 1-star reviews, noting similarities in the negative experiences reported. This suggests that the issues raised are not isolated incidents but may represent a broader pattern of concern among those who have interacted with Marcy Millard in her capacity as a GAL.

Furthermore, the reviewer criticizes Marcy Millard's responses to negative feedback as "dismissive" and indicative of someone who "refuses to acknowledge missteps, mistakes, and the dangers of their recommendations, actions, or in many cases it seems, blatant inaction and oversights." This paints a picture of a lack of accountability and a potential disregard for the impact of her actions on the families involved in the legal proceedings.

Another review is even more direct and forceful in its criticism, stating, "Marcy is the WORST!!! There is absolutely nothing WORSE than the Millard Law Firm. All Marcy Millard wants is your MONEY. The entire team eye on your pocket." This review alleges a primary focus on financial gain rather than the best interests of the client or the child in GAL cases. The reviewer also mentions a low Yelp rating of 2 stars with "ALL NEGATIVE COMMENTS," urging others to "STAY AWAY!!!" and describing their own experience as a "nightmare." This strongly advises potential clients to exercise extreme caution.

In a detailed response to Marcy Millard's reply to their initial review, one of the parents elaborates on their negative experience. They state that Marcy Millard's recommendations were "bad from the get-go," not just after an extended period. This individual claims they were threatened behind the scenes and highlights the significant reliance of judges on GAL recommendations due to time constraints, emphasizing the need for reform in this area. They also mention a mediator stating, "I’m sorry they got this so wrong," with two witnesses to corroborate this statement, while alleging that Marcy Millard "hid behind a screen."

This parent further explains the difficult position they were allegedly put in: choosing between following the GAL's "awful" recommendation (after incurring significant legal fees) or continuing to fight in court and risking further abuses of the system. They chose the former, implying that the GAL's recommendation, while not ideal, was perceived as the lesser of two evils. This situation underscores the immense power and influence a GAL can have in family court proceedings and the potential for significant impact on the lives of the individuals involved.

The reviewer concludes by expressing that The Millard Law Firm's parting wish for "peace" felt insincere given their experience. The use of hashtags like #OneMomsBattle and #TinaSwithin (referencing a resource for parents in custody battles) further contextualizes the reviewer's experience within a broader community of individuals concerned about family court practices and the role of GALs.

Given the consistency and severity of the negative feedback, local users searching for lawyers in Alpharetta, particularly for family law matters involving a Guardian Ad Litem, are strongly advised to carefully consider the experiences shared in these reviews regarding Marcy Millard and The Millard Law Firm. While every legal situation is unique, the concerns raised by multiple individuals should not be disregarded.

It is important to note that these reviews represent the opinions and experiences of individual clients and may not reflect the experiences of all individuals who have worked with The Millard Law Firm. However, the detailed nature of the complaints and the recurring themes warrant serious consideration. Potential clients are encouraged to conduct thorough research, seek information from multiple sources, and potentially consult with other attorneys before making a decision.

Due to the overwhelmingly negative nature of the publicly available feedback, it is impossible to objectively present positive features, describe a welcoming environment, or highlight specific services in a positive light based solely on this information. There is no promotional information to share, as the reviews serve as a cautionary message rather than an endorsement.

Local users considering The Millard Law Firm for legal representation, especially in family court cases where a Guardian Ad Litem might be involved, should proceed with extreme caution and conduct extensive due diligence. Contacting the firm directly to understand their perspective and approach may be beneficial, but it is equally important to weigh this information against the negative experiences shared by past clients.

In conclusion, the available online reviews for The Millard Law Firm, particularly concerning Marcy Millard's role as a Guardian Ad Litem, are overwhelmingly negative and raise serious concerns about the firm's practices and priorities. Local users seeking legal services in Alpharetta should carefully review these accounts and conduct thorough research before making a decision to engage The Millard Law Firm for their legal needs.

For my child’s sake, I’m waiting until my child is 18 to write a thorough review about our negative experience with Marcy Millard as Guardian Ad Litem. I’ve waited years and will continue to wait in order to safely share my detailed review in hopes we can negate further abuses of the broken family court system. Mother, Tina Swithin, of OneMomsBattle could be a great resource of help and advice for many parents trying to protect their child’s best interest. Google Tina Swithin. I wish every truthful and loving parent all the best in the fight for what’s right for your child’s future. I highly recommend and encourage that you research and talk to other parents before agreeing to have Marcy Millard as GAL (Guardian Ad Litem). There is a need for reform in the family court arena. And in my opinion, this reform must start with limiting the power of a GAL - in my case, Marcy Millard. See Dan’s review below, in addition to the other 1-star reviewers. There are similarities throughout. Read them. Marcy’s responses to each, in my opinion, are dismissive and what you would expect from someone who refuses to acknowledge missteps, mistakes, and the dangers of their recommendations, actions, or in many cases it seems, blatant inaction and oversights - in my opinion. Anyone with a similar experience is welcome to contact me. ________________ ***** Response to Marcy’s reply below: ________________ Yes, I agree with Marcy, it is very “unfortunate”. However, Marcy’s recommendations were not bad after years, they were bad from the get-go. Marcy knows full well that I was threatened with a lot behind the scenes and all GALs should know full well that “at the end of the day”, Judges don’t have time to do their due diligence and they very much rely on a GAL to do so. (Reform is needed here). *** Even the mediator said, “I’m sorry they got this so wrong.” (I have TWO witnesses to attest to this while Marcy hid behind a screen). When a loving parent is faced with going with the GAL recommendation (awful + $100k in) or court for further abuses of the system (couldn’t take the chance), a loving parent chooses to end the battle for the best interest of the child because maybe the GALs recommendations are a little less worse. And we all know the weight a Judge places on a GALs recommendations. That’s not a corner any loving parent should be put in. And this is why we need reform. Thank you, Millard Law Firm, for the parting gift wishing our family “peace”, however the words fall flat. But thank you for the token nonetheless. #OneMomsBattle #TinaSwithin #MamaBear

Marcy is the WORST!!! There is absolutely nothing WORSE than the Millard Law Firm. All Marcy Millard wants is your MONEY. The entire team eye on your pocket. If you research Yelp, her rating is only 2 with ALL NEGATIVE COMMENTS. You will be regretting your decision if you select her as your attorney. I had a nightmare experience with her so STAY AWAY!!!

Ms. Millard was the court appointed GAL in a high conflict divorce and custody dispute I was involved in. Ms. Millard, Ms. Heather & Ms. Johana were all kind and professional in a difficult situation. I appreciated timely correspondence and the monthly breakdown of charges for services rendered— I found the rates fair and reasonable. Ms. Marcy’s recommendation was instrumental in giving my children a normal childhood as well as being a catalyst to avoid trial through mediation. I rarely write reviews, but I believe sharing my perspective may help someone obtain sound counsel in the future. There is no incentive for this feedback.

Absolutely horrible experience having Marcy Millard as a Guardian ad Litem in my custody case. All the parents having custody battle in their divorce should absolutely avoid having this Law firm be anywhere near this very sensitive matter. From the beginning, Marcy picked the side of my wife and stayed there no matter how much evidence I provided. She privately called my wife to discuss the case which is a major Violation of Ethics. Rules of Engagement for the Guardian ad Litem in Georgia clearly states that this isn't allowed without the presence of the attorney. Secondly, Marcy only investigated the allegations against me. Every allegation I made against my wife was not investigated properly or at all. Being biased is another major offense if we speak about the Rules of Engagement. Marcy did what my wife wanted her to do and didn't show much interest in what my kids wanted and needed. I was a stay at home dad since my kids were born. My son is special needs and Marcy was suggesting 50/50 custody which would have a devastating effect on my son as he would not be able to comprehend that and adjust to it. Every autism expert that I spoke with confirmed my fears and suggested that my boy wouldn't have much chance to be successful in any area of his life with changing homes every week. My son needs stability and consistency every minute, day, week, month, in order to move forward and be happy. Now to the billing from Marcy and Heather. Both of our lawyers couldn't believe when we raised our concerns about the bills we received from this firm. Heather will bill, double bill, bill even when there's nothing to be billed. When I inquired about her bill during the month I didn't contact this firm at all, she blamed it on the accounting. Accounting doesn't send bill unless you (Heather) submit it to them. She never offered a valid explanation or did anything to fix it. Every month after we received the bills from this firm, we would get together and couldn't believe what we were billed for. To conclude, I wish I never requested the Guardian ad Litem in my case. By doing it, I was expecting my kids to be protected, listened to and their wishes to be met. My kids best interests were not represented by Marcy. That's what Guardian ad Litem is supposed to do.

I highly recommend Millard Law Firm. Marcy and Jill represented me for my divorce and then a custody dispute. Both cases were difficult and traumatic for me, and Marcy and Jill helped me every step of the way. They were knowledgable and guided me through the entire process. They would advise me if my expectations weren't reasonable, and provided ideas about how to compromise in ways that were acceptable to me, which was extremely helpful. They never pressured me into any decision. They were very responsive to my correspondences. Marcy also was cognizant of keeping fees as low as possible. Marcy's staff are just like her in that they are friendly, respectful, and thorough. Marcy has been a lifesaver and I can't thank her enough!
