Selig & Associates Introduce
For local users in New York seeking legal assistance, Selig & Associates operates from their office located at 450 7th Ave, New York, NY 10123, USA, and is listed under the 'Nearby Lawyers' category. This introduction aims to provide an objective overview of this legal practice based on the available online feedback, encompassing the potential office environment, inferred legal services, and the significantly contrasting experiences reported by clients. Given the strong divergence in the reviews, local users are strongly advised to carefully consider this information and conduct thorough due diligence before making any decisions regarding engaging this firm.
Office Environment and Location:
Selig & Associates is located on 7th Avenue in New York City, placing them within a busy commercial area. Law offices in such locations typically maintain a professional environment to serve their clientele. While specific details about the office ambiance are not provided in the reviews, one can generally expect a standard office setting suitable for legal consultations and administrative work. The 7th Avenue address offers accessibility for individuals and businesses in Manhattan and the surrounding boroughs seeking legal services.
Potential Legal Services:
The customer reviews primarily focus on tax-related services offered by Selig & Associates, particularly concerning IRS issues and tax payment reduction. One review mentions a commercial on NY1 stating their ability to reduce payments to the IRS. This suggests that a significant aspect of their practice may involve tax law, including:
- Tax Relief Services: Assisting individuals and businesses in resolving issues with the Internal Revenue Service (IRS), potentially including negotiating payment plans, offers in compromise, and penalty abatement.
- Tax Audit Representation: Representing clients during IRS audits.
- Tax Appeals: Assisting clients with the process of appealing IRS decisions.
However, one negative review indicates involvement in an "appeal" process that yielded no results after six months. A positive review mentions assistance with a tax audit that resulted in a refund, suggesting competence in this area. It is important to note that the scope of their legal services beyond tax matters is not evident from the provided reviews. Potential clients should inquire directly about their specific areas of practice.
Observed Features and Client Experiences:
The available customer reviews present extremely divergent experiences with Selig & Associates:
- Negative Experience - Increased Payment and Poor Communication (Negative): One detailed negative review alleges that Selig & Associates ultimately increased the client's tax burden due to late payments to the IRS, despite initially promising to reduce payments. The reviewer also reports paying a fee of $2000 to an attorney named Bradley Dorin, followed by a significant lack of communication, including unanswered calls and voicemails. The client had to visit the office without an appointment to get information. The reviewer further claims that the firm did nothing to reduce the payment and ultimately advised the client to sue if dissatisfied, labeling the firm and Bradley Dorin a "Scam."
- Negative Experience - No Action Taken (Negative): The same negative review also states that after six months regarding an appeal, there was no reply or progress, further highlighting issues with communication and service delivery.
- Positive Experience - Satisfied with Audit Assistance (Positive): A contrasting positive review states that the client has worked with Selig & Associates for "the last few years" and was "for the most part satisfied." This review specifically mentions a tax audit a year prior where a mistake was found, resulting in an IRS refund. The reviewer also praises "Brad" for being available to answer questions and provide advice.
The stark contrast between these reviews is critical. The negative review paints a picture of financial harm due to alleged negligence and extremely poor communication, while the positive review indicates satisfaction with tax audit assistance and accessibility of an attorney. This divergence suggests that client experiences may vary significantly.
Promotional Considerations and Important Notes:
The information available does not lend itself to a straightforward promotional message. While the positive review highlights a successful outcome in a tax audit and good communication with "Brad," the detailed negative review raises serious concerns about the firm's handling of tax payments, communication practices, and overall service delivery, even alleging deceptive practices. Local users considering Selig & Associates should weigh these drastically different accounts very carefully.
The negative review's allegations of increased tax liability due to late payments caused by the firm, coupled with a lack of communication and a dismissive attitude towards complaints, are significant red flags. Potential clients should be extremely cautious and conduct thorough due diligence, including seeking multiple recent references and scrutinizing any agreements or promises made by the firm, particularly regarding tax reduction claims and payment handling procedures.
Conversely, the positive review suggests that some clients have had satisfactory experiences, particularly in the context of tax audits. The mention of a refund obtained through their assistance is a positive outcome. However, this positive experience does not negate the serious issues raised in the negative review.
Given the conflicting and concerning feedback, local users are strongly advised to approach Selig & Associates with extreme caution. It is crucial to conduct thorough independent research, seek multiple recent and verifiable references, and have a detailed consultation addressing the issues raised in the negative review before making any decision to engage their services.

Their commercial on NY1 says they will reduce payment to IRS. This is totally opposite. These guys increase payment in the end. I paid $2000, Bradley Dorin who was supposed to take care of my files . After payment made they don't even pick a call or return call of voicemail. So I decided to visit their office without appoint. I met Bradley asked what's going on about not pick up call then he told me to send them checks of payment to IRS and said will reduce tax payment in the end. They send IRS my checks later than due and that made more penalty. I decided to send directly to IRS so that will get there before due. The other day I asked about how is file about appeal, then Bradley said he's going to process. 6 months past, then no reply. I tried call and left voice mail so many times but they didn't call back. Finally they called back, I asked about process and their reply was they can't reduce no payment. They didn't do nothing. Just caused more late penalty. Selig told me if you have complain about this, you can sue us at court. I couldn't believe what he said. Stay away from them. These Selig and Bradley Dorin is such a Scam
We have work with Selig for the last few years. We are for the most part satisfied with his work. We had an audit a year ago and they found a mistake and we ended up receiving a refund from the IRS, even the lady who did the audit was surprised. Brad is always there when I need to ask a question and to give his advice.
I invested in a sports bar that went out of business about 2 years ago and the tax department starded sending me letters saying I owed $213,688 and they put out a warrant on me. I interviewed a couple of attorneys but didn’t feel comfortable with them and was totally freaking out. I hired Selig & Associates because they know what they are doing and because David Selig knows everyone at the tax department. They filed papers for me and got my drivers license back and my case was settled.
It is very difficult for startup business to manage finances, tax returns as I was new to the business and one of my friends told me about Selig and Associates. I was nervous and confused to give them a call as I read few negative reviews about them online. I approached them and they took my case seriously and in spite of my poor knowledge about taxes and IRS, David Selig helped me a lot. They took time for it but at the end all was set. Thanks
They took my case which was for taxes i owed from 1999 to 2004. I did some equity trading while in college and lost all the money and never filled for taxes. They told me how much i owed and i did all the paper work for the taxes. I wrote all the trades dates and amounts. The only thing they did was to sent a letter to the IRS that they represent me and then the IRS sent them the numbers. Then i worked for days putting everything together. We had a meeting they told me everything was good. When i first hire them on September 9 2013 i gave them 50% of the amount we had agreed which was $4000 for taking my case. They had told me that this was the first step. After filling the taxes they only called me after 2 months to ask for more money and no information about my case i gave them another $1500. Then after 2 months with no news for my case they called on January 15 and asked me for the rest of the amount. When i told them that i will need some news for my case before making the final payment they told me that they are firing me from their client and they will keep all information regarding my case. I was in shock i could not believe what i was hearing. Not only i never heard anything from them regarding my case they took most of the money and showed me nothing. As a customer the only thing i asked was to see some progress on my case. I am taking them to court I WAS NEVER TREATED IN SUCH AN UNPROFESSIONAL MANNER. STAY AWAY THEY WILL TAKE YOUR MONEY AND NOT DO ANY WORK !!!!!!
