  • Don't hire carry sheiver as probate attorney. He took me for a ride. I told him I was on disabilty a case with 2 people that was done except for accounting $7,000. He dragged it on. I came in had everything organized with post it notes. No house involved just needed accounting. And lawyer removed. He spent 6.60 hours he says. Reviewing and telephone conference with me. Wasn't necessary. Should of been close first court date and accounting done. I went to the bank only money was involved had all receipts I gathered. He wanted in on my moms malpractice case that's pending so he didn't want to close my sister's. I got a invoice December showing a $540 credit. January a bill for close to $4,000. I should of gotten monthly statements like regular law offices. If you use him make sure he understand you and what was done. He surely wasn't prepared first hearing could of been closed he had 3 months. Would never recommend him. He charged me for disgusing my moms malpractice case thats not even started. I have to pay for that he was seeing $$$ signs.

About Schiever Carey J

Welcome to the "Nearby Lawyers" category, your local guide to legal professionals. Today, we introduce you to Schiever Carey J, an attorney with an office located at 3 E Hawthorn Pkwy, Vernon Hills, IL 60061, USA. Based on the available client reviews, experiences with Mr. Schiever appear to vary significantly, and it's important for local users to consider both positive and negative feedback when evaluating his services.

One client expresses strong dissatisfaction with Carey Schiever's handling of a probate case. This client, who identified as being on disability, hired Mr. Schiever for a case involving two individuals that was reportedly complete except for accounting, with a stated initial cost of $7,000. The client alleges that Mr. Schiever unnecessarily prolonged the process, despite the case involving no property and the client providing organized documentation with post-it notes. The client claims that the matter, which primarily required accounting and the removal of a previous lawyer, should have been concluded shortly after the first court date. The client stated they had gathered all necessary bank and receipt information. A significant point of contention in this review is the billing. The client received an invoice in December showing a $540 credit, followed by a bill for nearly $4,000 in January, and they note the absence of regular monthly statements, which they consider standard practice for law offices. The client further alleges that Mr. Schiever seemed more interested in a pending malpractice case of the client's mother, suggesting this was a reason for the delay in closing their sister's case, implying Mr. Schiever was anticipating potential future fees. The reviewer explicitly states they would "never recommend him" and mentions being charged for discussions related to their mother's malpractice case, which had not even started, suggesting Mr. Schiever was motivated by potential financial gain. This detailed negative review raises serious concerns about the handling of this particular probate case, billing practices, and the attorney's focus.

In stark contrast, another client offers a positive perspective, stating, "Carey has been our attorney for 15+ years and has seen us through multiple estate and business issues. He's very reasonable and caring." This review highlights Mr. Schiever's long-term relationship with this client, indicating satisfaction over an extended period and across different legal areas, including estate and business law. The terms "very reasonable and caring" suggest a client-friendly approach in these contexts.

Considering these two divergent reviews, it's evident that clients have had different experiences with Schiever Carey J. One client's account of a probate matter is highly critical, citing issues with the duration of the case, billing, communication (or lack thereof through regular statements), and perceived motivations. On the other hand, a long-term client praises his reasonableness and caring attitude in estate and business matters.

Based on this information, Schiever Carey J appears to handle cases related to probate, estate law, and business law. A potential feature highlighted by the positive review is his long-term client relationships, suggesting reliability and satisfaction in those areas over time. However, the negative review raises concerns specifically regarding a probate case, indicating potential issues with efficiency, billing transparency, and client communication in that context.

As promotional information, the positive review suggests that Carey Schiever is reasonable and caring, particularly in estate and business law, having served a client for over 15 years. This long-standing relationship implies a level of trust and satisfaction in those legal domains. Conversely, the negative review serves as a cautionary note, particularly for those seeking assistance with probate matters, pointing to potential problems with case management and billing.

In summary, Schiever Carey J in Vernon Hills, IL, has received both negative and positive feedback from clients. While one client with a probate case reported significant dissatisfaction with the handling and billing of their matter, another long-term client praised his reasonableness and caring approach in estate and business law. Local users considering Mr. Schiever for their legal needs should take these contrasting experiences into account and conduct thorough due diligence based on their specific legal requirements.
