Her extensive experience includes serving as a mediator, an arbitrator, a voluntary settlement officer, and a Court Appointed Special Advocate for children. This background suggests a deep understanding of legal processes and a commitment to resolving disputes effectively.

One of the key services highlighted by Mihell Law, A.P.C. is Estate Planning and Trust creation. A review from a client mentions a positive experience working with Monica Mihell in the Santa Monica office to establish an estate plan and trust for their mother. This suggests that the firm provides services related to securing one's assets and ensuring their proper distribution according to their wishes, which are crucial aspects of legal planning for individuals and families.
Estate planning typically involves creating legal documents such as wills and trusts to manage assets and healthcare decisions in the event of incapacitation or death. A trust is a legal arrangement where a trustee holds assets for a beneficiary. It can help avoid probate, manage assets for minors, or plan for individuals with special needs. Estate planning also often includes advance healthcare directives, outlining medical treatment preferences, and powers of attorney, granting authority to make financial or medical decisions on one's behalf.
Another significant area of practice mentioned is Conservatorship. This is a formal court proceeding where a judge appoints a Conservator to care for an adult (the Conservatee) who cannot manage their finances or personal care. This can be due to aging, illness, or other circumstances. Mihell Law, A.P.C. assists in establishing conservatorships, contesting appointments, and providing ongoing advice and documentation support to Conservators. They also explore alternatives to conservatorship when appropriate, such as estate planning documents like Trusts, Advance Health Care Directives, and Durable Powers of Attorney.
The firm also handles Probate, which is the legal process of administering a deceased person's estate. This involves validating the will, identifying assets, paying debts and taxes, and distributing the remaining assets to the beneficiaries. Given Monica Mihell's extensive experience in probate litigation, the firm is likely equipped to handle complex probate matters and disputes.
While one review expresses a negative sentiment regarding the expectation of a client's legal knowledge and upfront full payment, it's important to consider that this is just one perspective. It highlights the significance of clear communication and understanding between a lawyer and their client regarding legal procedures, timelines, and payment terms. When seeking legal representation, it is always advisable to have an open discussion with the attorney about these aspects to ensure a comfortable and transparent working relationship.
It is generally expected that a hired attorney should help explain the relevant laws and legal procedures to a client who may not have a legal background. A good legal professional should provide clarity and insight, ensuring the client understands the context of their case. This includes explaining court timeframes, schedules, and the sequence of events. While clients are responsible for payments as agreed, a transparent discussion about the payment schedule and the scope of services is crucial.
The positive review regarding estate planning and trust services indicates that Mihell Law, A.P.C. can provide valuable assistance in these areas, helping clients navigate the complexities of creating legal structures to protect their assets and provide for their loved ones. This involves understanding the client's goals, explaining the available options, and drafting the necessary legal documents.

If an Individual does not know the law, but has a hired attorney, would it be safe to assume that, said, hired attorney would help Better explain or give insight / a better understanding of the law to the uninformed / uneducated individual? NOT A CHANCE! At least not here. The individual is expected to know every law the attorney is in reference to. Know all the procedures of events in sequence as well as the courts timeframe / schedules. AND be expected to make payment, IN FULL AMOUNT, before and legal proceedings may engage. If you fit the script of these keys points, then, yes by all means this would be an acceptable option for representation.
We hired Monica for Estate Planning and Trust for my mother. My sister and I visited Monica in Santa Monica office. She has been great in creating a trust and estate planning.
Monica is the best for Trust. I trust her.
