If you want to overpay for an attorney that barely shows up and doesn't care about any post closing issues and abandons you, hire this guy. Even better his secretary plays attorney and makes mistakes and inserts herself into situations she shouldn't be in. I lost leverage and money because I hired this guy. He didn't care at all about any issues I had and didn't respect my wishes as a client. He left the closing early and had to come back once we found out the other attorney lost my earnest money check. I paid well over what any other attorney would have charged now that I did my research. I lost a security deposit that should have went to me and lost money over issues with the property that were in violation of the contract. He didn't care and never responded to any of my emails. Do not hire this guy

I've been working with Mike for about 7 years. He has been extraordinarily professional and courteous. He's handled straight forward purchase contracts, lease agreements, seller finance deals and everything associated with our real estate deals. I would highly recommend Mike for any real estate legal help.

I worked with Mike, and his assistant Mary, on a very complicated family real estate deal for 4 to 5 years. They helped us through the maze with sound legal advice and compassion. I would highly recommend Mike for any real estate legal help!

Based on publicly available information, including practice area listings and client reviews, Michael N. Gorcowski, P.C. appears to offer a range of legal services. The primary areas of practice seem to include:
Real Estate Law: This is a significant focus, as indicated by multiple client reviews. Services in this area would typically encompass residential and commercial real estate transactions, including purchases, sales, lease agreements, and seller finance deals. It also extends to real estate litigation, such as eviction proceedings (landlord/tenant disputes), contract disputes related to property, and issues arising post-closing.
Family Law: This often includes sensitive matters such as divorce, child custody, child support, paternity issues, and domestic disputes. The firm explicitly mentions offering divorce/custody mediations, indicating a focus on resolving family-related conflicts.
Probate and Estate Planning: Assisting clients with securing their future and managing their assets through services like drafting wills and trusts, establishing powers of attorney (for property and healthcare), and navigating the probate process for estates, including small estates affidavits and guardianships.
General Litigation: While specific types of litigation are mentioned under other categories (e.g., real estate litigation), the firm also lists "General Litigation" as a practice area, suggesting they handle a broader scope of disputes that may proceed to court.

The features of Michael N. Gorcowski, P.C. can be gleaned from the contrasting experiences shared by real customers. These reviews provide direct insights into various aspects of the firm's operations and client relations:
One client's review paints a critical picture: "If you want to overpay for an attorney that barely shows up and doesn't care about any post closing issues and abandons you, hire this guy. Do not hire this guy."
This review highlights significant concerns regarding:
Attorney Presence and Engagement: Allegations of the attorney "barely show up" and leaving a closing early, suggesting a lack of consistent presence and engagement in critical moments.
Post-Closing Support and Responsiveness: A strong complaint about the attorney not caring about "post closing issues" and failing to respond to emails, indicating a potential lack of follow-through and communication after the initial legal process.
Staff Conduct: Concerns about the secretary "playing attorney" and making mistakes, which could point to issues with appropriate delegation and professional boundaries within the office.
Client Wishes and Advocacy: The client felt their wishes were not respected and that the attorney "didn't care at all about any issues I had," leading to a perceived loss of leverage and money due to contractual violations and lost deposits.
Billing and Fees: A strong sentiment of overpaying for services, with the client suggesting they paid "well over what any other attorney would have charged."
Conversely, another client offers a very positive review: "I've been working with Mike for about 7 years. He has been extraordinarily professional and courteous. He's handled straight forward purchase contracts, lease agreements, seller finance deals and everything associated with our real estate deals. I would highly recommend Mike for any real estate legal help."
This positive feedback emphasizes:
Professionalism and Courtesy: Describing the attorney as "extraordinarily professional and courteous," which directly contrasts with the previous review's implications of disengagement.
Experience and Expertise in Real Estate: Highlighting long-term working relationship (7 years) and successful handling of various complex real estate transactions, including purchase contracts, lease agreements, and seller finance deals.
Positive Recommendation: A clear and strong recommendation for real estate legal help, suggesting consistent satisfaction over an extended period.
In terms of promotional information, law firms typically highlight their expertise, years of experience, and client satisfaction. Michael N. Gorcowski has over 30 years of experience, a member of the Will County Bar Association and the Romeoville Chamber of Commerce. He is also fluent in Spanish, which can be a significant advantage for a diverse client base in Joliet. The firm emphasizes providing "extraordinary personal attention" to legal matters. However, for "Nearby Lawyers," the contrasting reviews present a nuanced picture. While some clients have had highly positive and enduring relationships, particularly in real estate matters, others report significant dissatisfaction related to communication, perceived lack of advocacy, and billing.
For local users considering Michael N. Gorcowski, P.C., it is imperative to acknowledge both perspectives. The firm's long-standing presence and specific expertise in real estate, family law, and estate planning are evident. However, the critical review concerning responsiveness, post-closing support, and billing practices suggests areas where client experiences can vary significantly. Prospective clients are strongly advised to conduct thorough due diligence, which may include reviewing other available information, directly discussing expectations regarding communication and fees during an initial consultation, and perhaps seeking multiple consultations before making a decision for their specific legal needs.
