• First impressions of Mike going back 10 plus years ago include respectful and genuine. Those words hold true to this day. Mike works hard for you and is always available and responsive.
• He helped the DA’s office send his innocent client to prison. He never contacted his client after he was paid. He never filed a witness list or submitted ANY evidence that could have possibly vindicated his client and proved his innocence. Chernin moved his office and lost contact with him until a day before his trial was to begin. Chernin showed up to trial unprepared and was very oblivious to circumstances surrounding the case. As a result an innocent black man was sent to prison with no solid or physical evidence used against him with the help of Michael Chernin, former Assistant DA Aaron E. Hall and the incompetent and racist (my personal opinion) Judge Rebecca F. Dallet. Michael Chernin is incompetent, yet very crafty with perverting the law against his clients who file a complaint against him . He tells you what you want to hear from an attorney about your case until you hire him and realize he’s a fraud. It may be too late for you when you realize this. The many years he’s been allowed to practice as such is despicable. He targets desperate people and poor inner city families. He’s crooked. You will spend your life trying to appeal if you hire him. He takes client’s money, don’t return calls, lies, don’t keep his word, gives his clients false hope, tells his clients he knows such and such to persuade you to hire him, & he also uses his influence as an “attorney” against you if you complain. DO NOT PAY HIM IN CASH. If you do please get a receipt. That’s the only thing that helped me a little when I filed a complaint with the Office of Lawyer Regulations. I pray he’s exposed one day for his long history of judicial misconduct. My comments are based on my experience and others I know experiences with him. The Office of Lawyer Regulation as well as Wisconsin courts support such behavior that’s why he’s still practicing and still causing people especially poor black families judicial harm. My opinion. My review is not meant to defame him or cause harm but to help future clients make a sound judgment before hiring him on their behalf or the behalf of a loved one. I encourage you all to do research and find out for yourselves how many cases of his are in appeal for Ineffective Counsel; the amount is immeasurable.
• Our youngest son had a pretty I would say complicated case that was handled by mr. Chernin and it took a little bit of time to get through all the details Court work and paperwork but Mr chernin definitely got the job done and made sure that our son didn't get a record at the age of 17 he is a good lawyer of their lawyer and will tell you exactly what you're up against he will not sugarcoat anything and he is honest with all of his clients and would definitely recommend him for anybody a defense lawyer for a criminal case thank you Mr chernin for the wonderful job that you did for our son it will never be forgotten and now our son can actually have a life without looking over his shoulder having anything on his record we appreciate you being a top-notch lawyer best wishes
• Unfortunately, I have had a number of negative experiences as it relates to, Attorney Chernin. A few years ago, I had an issue related to property taxes concerning a commercial property I owned where I was told by Attorney Chernin he is close friends with Alderman Ashanti Hamilton who sits on the panel related to property taxes and has the ability to grant me an extension as there was an amount of 21,741.53, owed. I trusted Attorney Chernin when he told me he has the ability to grant me an extension between sixty and ninety days to pay as I was given thirty at the time. I was contacted by Attorney Chernin on the twenty fourth day with only six days remaining that he was unable to assist me as promised. It is our understanding Attorney Chernin did not address the matter timely as promised until a few days before the property taxes were to be paid and ended up putting me in quite a bind. I did pay the property taxes but was quite upset with Attorney Chernin for some time as he had given me his word on a number of occasions it would not be a problem for him to have an extension granted.
