Meriwether & Tharp, LLC is a law firm with multiple offices, including one in Alpharetta. While specific details about the Alpharetta office's environment are not extensively available online, it is likely to be a professional setting designed to accommodate client meetings and legal work. The presence in a suite within a business complex suggests a standard professional office environment.
Based on the firm's name and general practices of similar law firms, Meriwether & Tharp, LLC likely offers a range of legal services. However, the provided customer reviews focus heavily on experiences within the realm of family law and divorce. Therefore, it is reasonable to infer that these areas constitute a significant portion of their practice. Potential services offered could include:
- Divorce: Representing clients in divorce proceedings, including issues such as property division, alimony, and spousal support.
- Family Law: Handling various family-related legal matters, which may include child custody and visitation, child support, adoption, and modifications of existing court orders.
- Other Potential Areas: Depending on the firm's overall structure and the expertise of its attorneys across all offices, they might also handle other legal areas. However, based on the provided reviews, family law, particularly divorce, appears to be a central focus discussed by clients.
It is crucial to consider the information presented in the customer reviews to gain a comprehensive understanding of potential features and the client experience at Meriwether & Tharp, LLC. The reviews provided offer significant insights, although they are largely negative and highlight serious concerns.
One client recounts a deeply negative experience, detailing issues with communication, case progression, and billing practices. This review mentions a lack of communication over a four-month period, the absence of a court date being set, and a subsequent referral to another lawyer within the firm that would necessitate starting over financially. The client also describes receiving a substantial bill followed by the firm's withdrawal after payment, resulting in a significant financial loss for the client. This paints a picture of potential disorganization, poor communication, and questionable billing practices.
Another review echoes similar concerns, specifically mentioning being billed excessively for seemingly minimal progress on a divorce case. The client alleges a lack of preparedness by their attorney during mediation, particularly regarding asset division, and criticizes the firm for accumulating a large bill despite the perceived lack of effective representation. This client also reports receiving a subsequent invoice after already paying a substantial sum and facing threats of legal action for non-payment. This review raises serious questions about the firm's billing transparency, case management, and ethical conduct.
Given the strong negative sentiments expressed in these reviews, it is challenging to identify positive features based solely on this information. However, objectively, the fact that the firm has multiple offices (as alluded to in one review mentioning a Savannah office) could be seen as a feature indicating a broader reach and potentially a larger pool of resources or specialized attorneys within the network. However, the negative experiences seem to overshadow any potential benefits of a larger firm structure, at least for these particular clients.
Regarding promotional information, none is explicitly provided in the text. Typically, law firms might promote their expertise in specific areas of law, their commitment to client satisfaction, or their track record of successful outcomes. However, in the absence of such information and given the serious allegations in the reviews, it would be inappropriate to speculate on any positive promotional aspects.
It is essential for local users considering Meriwether & Tharp, LLC to carefully review all available information, including these customer experiences. The reviews raise significant red flags regarding communication, billing practices, case management, and overall client satisfaction. While every case is unique, and these reviews represent individual experiences, the consistency of the negative feedback concerning billing and lack of progress should be a serious consideration for potential clients.
Prospective clients might want to inquire specifically about the firm's billing policies, communication protocols, and case management procedures during an initial consultation. It would also be prudent to seek additional reviews or references to gain a more balanced perspective, if possible. The information available suggests a need for thorough due diligence before engaging Meriwether & Tharp, LLC for legal services.
In conclusion, Meriwether & Tharp, LLC, located in Alpharetta, Georgia, appears to focus on areas of family law, particularly divorce. However, the provided customer reviews detail significant negative experiences related to communication, billing, and case progression, raising serious concerns about the firm's practices. Local users should carefully consider this feedback and conduct thorough research before deciding to engage their services.

I am so hurt by this firm. I watched the Savannah office do such an amazing job with clients I sent to them, and when it was my turn, I contacted the Savannah office and was told they could take the case. I said I had $15,000 to $20,000 to work with. I heard from my lawyer three times in four months. It's a very messy case, but I put all my faith in them, only for nothing to be done. No court date was set. I was sent to another lawyer in the firm and was told I would have to start over financially. They sent a bill for almost $5,000, and once paid, they withdrew. I lost my money. My new attorney has gotten everything resolved in less than three weeks. I am so hurt by MW&T. That's $15,000 I can't get back, plus a new bill for $3600.00. For what? :( My heart is broken đź’”
Do not even consider this firm. I was being represented by Daesik Shin when he had his own firm and mid case he moved to Meriweather and Tharp. I began being billed non stop for any and everything they could think of. there were no court hearings, no motions, the case was slow and they still found a way to rack up over 30k in billable hours. At mediation my attorney was not prepared, he did not have hidden and moved finances addressed, he had no plan put together for the asset division, he happily billed the 8 hours each time but basically sat there while the opposite side just outclassed him. After the divorce finally ended and i paid my 30k bill, this firm sends me a new 1400 invoice and threatens to sue me if i don’t pay it. I paid them over 30k to do nothing on my case and they thank me by threatening to sue me. They deserve to go out of business, I hope people pay attention to these reviews. you are better off with no representation than hiring this unethical firm.
I hired this law firm about 3 weeks ago. My lawyer was Ebony. I asked a few questions about my divorce and couldn’t understand George law never was the law explained to me. I paid my retainer fee. Then they started asking me if I wanted to go to trial, but wouldn’t explain why would you go to trial in a divorce? We only have one item a car to get worked out then wanted me to pay 12,500$ then wanted me to pay $2500 for an emergency hearing for my car. After asking questions one of the partners called me and told me….. they could not handle my case after reviewing emails between me and Ebony …… you need to be knowledgeable in your case ….. remember you are paying them…. Make your own decision to use them or not….. oh and lost my money …. This law firm Would not return my funds …… not great business…..
Worst “attorneys” ever….more like con artists…literally could not have done any worse of a job and screwed me over anymore than they did!!! 2 years and $30K later for a “slam dunk child support contempt case” and all they did was mess up every single document, and sell me out in a 5 minute pretrial hearing that everyone was privy to but me…then 7 hours later was told I better sign the $25K settlement of the $180K he owed, or they would charge me another $10K everyday they had to come to court…then, screwed up the final order and never even had me look at it or sign before submitting to judge, which is fraud. Then, would never even call me back or take a call about final order. They are truly evil people.
Meriwhether and Tharp promised me a backbone against a rough divorce and instead had me sacrifice everything instead. They have created utter chaos in my life and do not care, actually told me they do not care. They are inadequate and cannot do there job in any capacity to protect there client, they only care about billing. They do not disclose in there contract that they will put a lien on your house if you do not pay and do it without notifying you of anything or even care if they make it right.
