The core service offered by MARTZ LAW, and Amy Martz's distinct specialization, is Special Education Law. This encompasses a wide array of services designed to ensure children with disabilities receive the Free Appropriate Public Education (FAPE) they are legally entitled to under federal and state laws, such as the Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA). Specifically, Amy Martz excels in advocating for families in matters related to Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), Section 504 plans, eligibility determinations, evaluations, disciplinary issues, due process hearings, and navigating disputes with school districts. Clients explicitly mention her ability to "turn things around with the school," moving from "being dismissed, to being listened to," and transforming a child from being "treated like a behavior problem-child" to "being treated like he has a disability." This indicates her profound ability to shift school perspectives and ensure proper identification and appropriate educational services for children with special needs, including those with trauma backgrounds. Her detailed understanding of school management and education policy allows her to navigate complex school systems effectively on behalf of her clients.
What truly sets Amy Martz and MARTZ LAW apart, and makes her a "unicorn" in the field, are her unique features and extensive background. Firstly, Amy isn't just a lawyer; she is a highly qualified educator with deep personal and professional experience. She spent "13 years as a teacher, and principal in Utah schools" before entering law. This dual expertise provides her with an unparalleled understanding of both the legal framework and the practical realities of the education system. She knows "education forwards and backwards" and was "on the other side of the table" for years, giving her invaluable insight into how schools operate and how to effectively negotiate with them without "freaking everyone out."
Secondly, her genuine care and compassion are recurring themes. Clients highlight that "Amy actually cares" and that she is "nice." This emotional intelligence and empathy are critical when dealing with emotionally charged special education cases. Her willingness to stay late "writing grants to get violins donated for children who could not afford it" before law school illustrates her deep commitment to the well-being of children. This caring nature is a stark contrast to the perception of some attorneys who "don't seem to care," making her a rare and valuable asset to her clients.
Thirdly, Amy Martz is exceptionally intelligent and a hard worker. She holds a Juris Doctorate, dual Master's degrees in Public Administration and Educational Leadership, and a Bachelor's in Elementary Education. This impressive academic background, combined with her dedication, ensures she can "figure it out for you" whatever the needs may be. Her strategic approach is evident in her ability to achieve significant shifts in school's treatment of children.
Finally, her effectiveness is undeniable. Clients describe the relief of handing over their "burden of grief and frustration," knowing she would "pick it up and ran with it." Her presence alone "changed everything" for families. The bold claim, "Your search for a special education attorney is over!" is a testament to the transformative impact she has had. The recommendation to "Treat this lady like gold because if you loose her you're on your own" powerfully conveys her indispensability.
For local users in South Jordan, UT, and across Utah searching for special education legal assistance within the "Nearby Lawyers" category, MARTZ LAW, with Amy Martz at its helm, is presented as the definitive choice. Promotional efforts would heavily emphasize her unique blend of legal and educational expertise, her genuine compassion, and her proven track record of achieving life-changing outcomes for children with special needs. Messaging could highlight the peace of mind that comes from having an attorney who truly understands the school system from both sides of the table. Phrases like "The Special Education Attorney Who Understands Your Child's Needs, Inside and Out," or "Turning Obstacles into Opportunities: Expert Special Education Advocacy for Utah Families," would resonate strongly.

Amy is truly amazing. She was a game changer for our family and for our son. She made it possible for him to access education. She turned things around with the school. We went from being dismissed, to being listened to. Our son went from being treated like a behaviour problem-child who needed more discipline, to being treated like he has a disability (which he does). The relief I felt being able to hand her our burden of grief and frustration was instant. And she picked it up and ran with it. Just having her on side changed everything for us and our son. We will call on her again I’m sure. The process surprised me, so just get a detailed description of what meetings will be like and what IEP hearing will run like. But all in all it was great. Amy isn’t just a lawyer, she is a highly qualified educator with personal experience with children who have special needs and trauma. She also understands schools, school management and education policy. She is the unicorn we were looking for. I cannot recommend her highly enough.
