Features of Gregory P. Hawkins's practice, as perceived through the lens of the customer reviews, present a concerning picture regarding trust drafting and client communication. One review expresses "great disappointment" with a trust written by Mr. Hawkins for the reviewer's parents. The reviewer alleges that the trust deviated significantly from the parents' consistent wishes expressed in two previous trusts regarding the distribution of control after their passing or incapacitation. The review further states that Mr. Hawkins advised against the parents' wishes, insisting on a single trustee, which reportedly led to family conflict and confusion. The reviewer mentions that three other estate attorneys who reviewed the trust deemed it "poorly written." Additionally, the review claims that Mr. Hawkins's advice to the appointed sibling fostered an "irreparable divide" in the family and necessitated litigation to ensure proper care for the surviving parent. The reviewer concludes by stating that Mr. Hawkins "misled" their parents, who were in declining health at the time of consultation, and was unhelpful in clarifying the trust documents after one parent's passing, causing significant heartbreak.
The second review echoes these sentiments, stating that the trust created for the reviewer's parents was "poorly written" and that Greg Hawkins did not listen to concerns or answer questions adequately. We are very disappointed in the trust written up by Mr. Hawkins for my parents 6 months before my mother passed away. He created a trust that deviated so far from two previous trusts that showed my parents consist desire to have 2 of their children over the trust once they passed or became incapacitated. He advised against that and insisted that there only be one trustee which has created a situation where there is confusion & contention in the family. Three other estate attorneys who have read the trust agreed it was poorly written. The advise Mr. Hawkins has given the sibling over the trust has fostered an irreparable divide in the family and caused litigation to get proper care for my father when my mother passed. Mr. Hawkins mislead my parents - they were in decline when they met with him and he was not helpful when we reached out to seek understanding of the trust documents after my mother passed. We are heartbroken.
The trust he created for my parents was poorly written and Greg doesn’t listen to concerns or answer questions. My parents were misled about their Trust and put into place provisions that have caused so much grief for my surviving father.
Mr. Hawkins was very professional and explained why we needed to update our trust. He gave us several good pointers and an explanation of what we needed to do after leaving his office. He also offered us further help on the phone if we needed it.
I wanted to get our affairs in order. I went to a seminar presented by Mr. Hawkins. The seminar was very informative and I felt he was an authority on the subject of living trusts. Shortly after the seminar, We met with Mr Hawkins to talk about our personal issues at no extra charge. We felt that he was very experienced and agreed for him to do our living trust. He created the trust and other documents quickly and completely. We are satisfied and confident that our affairs are in order. If anyone has not set up a trust, I recommend Mr. Hawkins.
I attended Greg’s “Grave Robbers” presentation. It was very informative. My wife and I later met with Greg, to get to know him and ask specific questions. We compared prices, and though we thought his was a little steep, we realized that one usually gets what one pays for. For what Greg offers, we were just “babes in the woods.” We don’t have much more than our home, but decided we needed the best, and went for Greg’s iron clad family trust. The process was in two parts, a telephone conversation, and a meeting in his office. He EXPLAINED everything. He gave very basic step by step instructions, and his cellphone number, for any questions not answered by the FAQ’s. He does not do email or voice messages, but will always respond with a text, and return phone call if needed. I am very satisfied with his knowledge, work ethic, integrity, and his “product.”
