Lawrence Corey A Introduce
For residents of Charlotte, North Carolina, seeking legal representation through the "Nearby Lawyers" platform, it is crucial to consider all available information to make an informed decision. This profile offers an objective introduction to Lawrence Corey A, an attorney with an office located at 903 E 8th St in Charlotte. This East 8th Street address places Mr. Corey's practice within a potentially accessible area for local users seeking legal assistance. As with any professional service, understanding the experiences of past clients can provide valuable insights into what prospective clients might expect.
Information regarding the specific environment of Mr. Corey's office suite is not detailed online. However, a standard expectation for a legal practice is a professional setting where clients can discuss sensitive matters with privacy and confidentiality. The physical office location suggests a commitment to serving the Charlotte community and offers a place for in-person consultations and meetings.
Based on the limited information available from online reviews, it is challenging to definitively state Mr. Corey's primary areas of legal practice. One review mentions his role as an appointed Public Defender, indicating experience in criminal defense. Public Defenders are typically appointed by the court to represent individuals who cannot afford legal counsel in criminal cases. This suggests that a portion of Mr. Corey's practice involves criminal defense work for indigent clients. The second review, however, refers to him as an "Excellent Atty." and recounts a positive experience where Mr. Corey provided initial advice regarding a son's situation without a consultation fee. This suggests that he may also handle cases beyond court-appointed defense, potentially in other areas of law where individuals seek private counsel.
Given the conflicting nature of the two available reviews, it is essential to present both perspectives to provide a balanced overview of potential client experiences with Lawrence Corey A. The negative review details significant dissatisfaction with Mr. Corey's conduct as an appointed Public Defender. The client alleges a delayed initial contact, unprofessional communication ("very nasty"), perceived laziness due to non-paying client status, inadequate preparation for the court date ("didn't educate himself on the details of my case," "had a lot of facts WRONG!!!"), and a failure to respond to post-case inquiries. The client further recounts a negative interaction via text message where Mr. Corey allegedly expressed unprofessional opinions and a dismissive attitude towards the client's concerns and probation officer. This review strongly advises against recommending Mr. Corey's services.
In contrast, the positive review offers a starkly different experience. This client describes Mr. Corey as "Excellent," "Professional, knowledgeable, sincere, and straight forward," and appreciates his direct communication style ("No sugar coating!"). Importantly, this reviewer notes that Mr. Corey "answers calls!!!" and took the time to speak about a son's legal situation without charging a consultation fee. This positive feedback highlights professionalism, knowledge, sincerity, directness, accessibility, and a willingness to offer initial assistance without immediate financial obligation.
Considering these contrasting accounts, it is difficult to definitively outline specific "features" of Mr. Corey's practice. However, based on the available feedback, potential observations include:
- Experience as a Public Defender: Indicating involvement in criminal defense for court-appointed clients.
- Potential for Private Representation: The positive review suggests he may also handle cases where clients directly retain his services.
- Direct Communication Style: One client appreciated his "straight forward" approach, while another perceived his communication as "nasty." This suggests a potentially blunt or direct manner of speaking that may be received differently by individuals.
- Accessibility (in some instances): The positive review specifically mentions that he "answers calls!!!" and offered a free initial consultation. However, the negative review cites a significant delay in response.
- Knowledgeable (per one review): One client described him as "knowledgeable," although the other claimed he was unprepared on the specifics of their case.
There is no promotional information available in the provided reviews. Therefore, it is not possible to comment on any current offers or marketing efforts associated with Lawrence Corey A's practice.

Very nasty, I was appointed this Public Defender through the courts, he took about two weeks to call me back and was very nasty when he did call back because we almost fell out I was about to request another public defender, and because I wasn't a paying client, he was very lazy on my case. Only spoke to him probably the day or two before my court date. He didn't educate himself on the details of my case, because he had a lot of facts WRONG!!! After the completion of my case, I had a question about the way the charges were on my background, he didn't even respond, when I told him thanks anyway, and how I felt about him not responding a whole week later, he was, again, VERY nasty. I texted him as soon as I woke up to get ready for work. He told me he didn't appreciate me texting him at 6:45 and that he doesn't have to answer my questions & that my Probation officer was pretty much dumb and couldn't read my background correctly and all. I wouldn't recommend his stank breath to represent my dog!!! VERY UNPROFESSIONAL!!!
Excellent Atty.experience with Atty. Lawrence! Professional, knowledgeable, sincere, and straight forward. No sugar coating! Yes, he answers calls!!! Took time, and spoke with me regarding my son's situation without consultation fee.
