Based on the provided review, while specific areas of legal specialization are not explicitly stated, the context suggests the firm handles cases that involve client representation and billing for services rendered. The review hints at a case being withdrawn ("she withdrew from the case") and billing issues arising thereafter. Generally, local legal practices like the Law Office of Raleigh D. Kalbfleisch may offer a range of services depending on the attorney's specific expertise, which could potentially include areas such as:
- General Legal Consultation: Providing initial advice and guidance on various legal issues.
- Client Representation: Undertaking legal action or defense on behalf of clients.
- Case Management: Handling the administrative and strategic aspects of legal cases.
- Billing and Fee Management: Managing financial agreements and invoices for legal services.
The core service provided by any legal firm is professional legal counsel and representation, aimed at assisting clients in navigating legal complexities and achieving desired outcomes.
The provided review offers significant and detailed feedback regarding a client's experience with the Law Office of Raleigh D. Kalbfleisch. It is crucial to objectively present the concerns raised:
- Billing Discrepancies and Post-Withdrawal Charges: The primary concern articulated by the reviewer is an alleged inappropriate billing practice. The client states, "her office automatically billed me August 1st 2024 the case more than a year ago why should I pay her she didn't do anything I live in Naperville she works in Wheaton I have two different addresses for the one that's at the office and there's some place in Wheaton I think it's a two-bedroom condo she's got to be about 50 and she had two pages of references. We'll have to have at least one star apparently I can't have zero Stars but she would choose from the case 14 months ago and sending a bill now I only talked to her a secretary also alone 45 she was 44 last year and she only has one review now she has two hours of five and one is 2.9 999 cuz I can't with zero". This suggests a bill was issued 14 months after the attorney reportedly withdrew from the case, and the client questions the validity of this charge, stating that the attorney "didn't do anything" after withdrawal. This raises serious questions about billing transparency and justification for services.
- Communication Issues: The client explicitly states, "Rayleigh could not reach me on my phone in May of 2023." This highlights a significant breakdown in communication, which is vital in attorney-client relationships. Furthermore, the client states, "I only talked to her secretary," suggesting a lack of direct communication with the attorney.
- Concerns about Professional Conduct/Case Handling: The claim that the attorney "withdrew from the case" and subsequently billed for services (or lack thereof) post-withdrawal is a point of contention for the client.
- Discrepancies in Address Information: The client mentions "two different addresses for the one that's at the office and there's some place in Wheaton I think it's a two-bedroom condo," which, while not a direct legal issue, reflects a perceived lack of clarity or consistency in information provided.
- Negative Perception of Reviews/Ratings: The client expresses frustration with the inability to give a zero-star rating, having to settle for one star, and also provides their own interpretation of the firm's overall rating, stating, "she only has one review now she has two hours of five and one is 2.9 999 cuz I can't with zero." This indicates a strong negative sentiment influencing their perception of the firm's overall online reputation.
- Specific Details on Attorney and Staff: The review includes personal details about the attorney's age and the age of her secretary, which are unusual and not directly relevant to the legal services but reflect the client's detailed and negative recollection of the experience.
The review provides a highly critical perspective on the firm's billing practices, communication, and perceived value of services after the attorney's withdrawal from a case.
Given the significant concerns raised in the primary review, the Law Office of Raleigh D. Kalbfleisch faces challenges in its public perception within the "Nearby Lawyers" category. While the firm's direct contact information—(630) 690-6370 phone and +1 630-690-6370 mobile—and its physical address in Wheaton, IL, remain constant, promotional efforts would likely need to address or mitigate the issues highlighted in client feedback.
- Address Billing Transparency: Any promotional material or initial consultations should provide clear and unambiguous details about billing practices, retainer agreements, and how fees are calculated, especially regarding withdrawal from cases.
- Emphasize Communication Protocols: If the firm aims to address communication concerns, they would need to highlight their commitment to client responsiveness and direct attorney-client communication, rather than solely through staff.
- Highlight Specific Areas of Expertise (if applicable): If the firm has particular legal strengths not mentioned in the review, detailing these would help attract clients seeking those specific services.
- Focus on Resolution of Past Issues: If past issues like those described in the review have been addressed or policies updated, communicating these changes (without directly referencing the negative review in promotional material) could help rebuild trust.
For potential clients researching "Nearby Lawyers" and considering the Law Office of Raleigh D. Kalbfleisch, it is highly advisable to exercise extensive due diligence. This would include:
- Thoroughly review all contractual terms and billing agreements: Insist on clear, written agreements that specify fees, retainer usage, billing cycles, and procedures for disengagement and final billing.
- Clarify communication expectations: Discuss how and when the attorney will communicate directly with the client.
- Verify the scope of work and timelines: Ensure that all agreed-upon services and expected timelines are documented.
- Regularly review invoices: Promptly check all bills for accuracy and immediately dispute any discrepancies in writing.
- Seek independent legal advice: If a potential client has concerns about an engagement agreement or billing, consulting another attorney for an independent review can be beneficial.
In conclusion, the Law Office of Raleigh D. Kalbfleisch is a legal service provider in Wheaton, IL, listed under "Nearby Lawyers." While it offers legal assistance, the prominent client review raises significant concerns regarding billing practices, communication, and case handling after withdrawal. Prospective clients should approach with caution and ensure all terms and expectations are meticulously clear and documented before engaging the firm's services.
