My Legal Name is Ember F. if Hoglund, or anyone else, want to contact me. Contacted Hoglund Law took on my disability case in October of 2024, with a file date of Oct 31, 2024, They informed me the case would be settled quickly as I met every requirement and I qualified for SSDI. They specifically told me not to contact the Social Security Office or sign anything for the office when they helped me apply and that everything I signed with their office would cover my application. In February of 2025 the Social Security Office in my area sent me a letter informing me that Hoglund never properly submitted my paperwork or signature and that I had to go to the office and fix the application. I decided to visit the office to double check the application as this, obviously, felt strange. Upon going to the office I was informed that non of my application information was certified and submitted and I had to verify my entire application and sign every document again with them to verify everything and actually submit it. Upon finishing the application I was informed I would receive a call for an interview. I got that interview on Saturday Feb 22, 2025. SSDI informed me I did not have enough work history to apply for SSDI [which is sad, but I did not know that, even after giving Hoglund all my information! They should have known that!]. I called Hoglund on Feb 25, 2025 to figure out what my next steps where. The secretary was very kind to me, as she always is [props to her she is a very sweet soul], and helped me set up a call back with my case manager. Upon getting a call back from my case manager, she started the call by simply saying she was calling back and then no further detail, not even asking me what I called about or saying hello. After a very awkward back and fourth I let her know I was denied, and that I would like to move forwards with an appeal if possible and that I was confused because as far as I was aware I did meet the work requirements, as I'm under 24, have been disabled since childhood, and have several conditions that make it impossible for me to work. For context: My list of disabilities include Learning Disabilities, a TBI, other physical injuries, psychological conditions both inherited and relating to physical and emotional trauma, and genetic conditions such as EDS and Alpha 1. At this point my case manager raised her voice, telling me there would be no appeal as they felt there was no case because I was denied on a technical term, one they said they had no access too or way to verify if it was true, and that any questions I have should be given to the Social Security Office, and that I shouldn't contact them for any questions. I then said that my paperwork did say I could appeal this discussion and that it says you can appeal on a technical decision and she raised her voice further saying there was no case, and I still had a SSI application open and that it was better than nothing and I should be grateful for it, and that I should bother the Social Security Office with these questions and not her, and that my case was closed and they could no longer help me and I would not be getting SSDI through their office. My Case manager then said I was being unreasonable, and hung up on me while I was crying for being yelled at. Hoglund Law, do better.

Extremely Disappointed with Hoglund Law Offices' Representation: I am writing to share the profoundly disappointing experience my girlfriend had with Hoglund Law Offices. She has been battling a severe case of Lyme disease for years, enduring debilitating symptoms like chronic pain, neurological issues, and frequent medical appointments that have prevented her from working for the past three years. Hoglund Law Offices reached out to her unsolicited, offering to represent her in pursuing a disability claim. They made it sound straightforward, suggesting it was an open-and-shut case given her extensive medical history and inability to work. Unfortunately, their actions did not match their promises. Lack of Communication and Support: Throughout the process, communication from Hoglund Law was minimal. When she attempted to provide new medical information or requested updates, she was often dismissed and told not to call—that they would reach out when necessary. This left her feeling isolated and uninformed about her own case. When they did contact her, it was typically just a week before a court hearing, leaving insufficient time to prepare or discuss important details. Unprepared Representation at the Hearing: At her final disability hearing, an attorney she had never met arrived to represent her. This attorney seemed unfamiliar with her case, medical history, and the reasons she was seeking disability. When the judge questioned her credibility—suggesting that if she could occasionally engage in light activities, she could work—the attorney failed to defend her or provide context about her condition. The judge's comments were dismissive and upsetting, yet the attorney remained silent. It was disheartening to see her representation so unprepared during such a critical moment. Abandoned Without Notice: After the hearing, the attorney mentioned they might need to appeal if the decision was unfavorable. However, she heard nothing further until receiving a letter stating that her claim was denied and that Hoglund Law Offices would not be pursuing an appeal. The letter bluntly stated they were taking no further action on her claim. This left her feeling abandoned and forced to navigate the complex appeals process alone if she chose to continue. Missed Opportunities Due to Lack of Diligence: What's particularly frustrating is that recent changes in the Social Security Administration have made it somewhat easier for individuals like her to qualify for disability. It feels as though Hoglund Law Offices did not take full advantage of these changes, possibly due to a lack of awareness or diligence. Final Thoughts for Others: If you or someone you know is seeking legal representation for a disability claim, I strongly advise looking elsewhere. Your case deserves a law firm that will treat you as an individual, fully understand your situation, and advocate diligently on your behalf. Don't settle for a firm that makes promises but fails to deliver when it matters most. Do thorough research, read reviews, and seek personal recommendations to find a law office that genuinely has your best interests at heart. A Message to Hoglund Law Offices: I hope you take this feedback seriously and reevaluate how you handle clients' cases. People come to you during some of the most challenging times in their lives, trusting you to advocate for them with competence and compassion. It's imperative that you honor that trust by providing consistent communication, thorough preparation, and genuine support. No one should feel abandoned or unheard, especially when navigating something as critical as a disability claim.

This law firm got me disability in 2019 and they were great. Today? They are horrible to deal with. I told them in the beginning I did not have to re apply but did not know what actions to take. I was told, “Well we are filing a new application.” I have 30 or more emails to and from the paralegals as I have been asking for status updates. Blown off by every time. I called Social Security yesterday. Not only did the application not go through, they have no record of it, the law firm as not even approved as my legal representation. All I needed to do was complete two forms. One asking for Social Security to reinstate my benefits and one proving end of work date. I have been sitting here for MONTHS waiting for something that is NEVER going to happen. Not only are the paralegals rude, dismissive and in this case incompetent phone calls went not returned and questions not answered. I am terminating this contract and will be circling back. The partners of this firm have certainly not been without income or 5 months and able pay their bills. Mine on the other hand????

While the provided information primarily focuses on their work in disability law, it's important for local users to understand their presence within the community and consider their potential services based on their individual legal requirements.
Based on the available information, Hoglund Law appears to specialize, at least in part, in Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI) and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) cases. The reviews provided offer a glimpse into the experiences of individuals who have sought their assistance in this specific area of law. These firsthand accounts can be valuable for local users considering Hoglund Law for similar disability claims.
One client, identifying as Ember F., detailed their experience with Hoglund Law starting in October 2024. According to this review, the client was informed that their SSDI case would likely be settled quickly due to meeting the requirements. The client stated they were advised not to contact the Social Security Office directly and that signing documents with Hoglund Law would cover their application. However, the review indicates that in February 2025, the Social Security Office informed the client that their paperwork had not been properly submitted, requiring the client to personally verify and sign their application at the Social Security office.
Further in the review, the client mentioned being denied SSDI due to insufficient work history, a fact the client believed Hoglund Law should have identified given the information provided. Subsequent communication with the firm allegedly involved a case manager who, according to the review, was unhelpful and ultimately hung up on the client after a discussion about the possibility of an appeal. The client expressed disappointment with the handling of their case and the communication received.
Another review shared a negative initial interaction, where an individual seeking assistance with an SSDI application claimed they were abruptly told they did not qualify and the phone was slammed down. This reviewer stated they proceeded to file on their own and qualified three years later, advising against recommending Hoglund Law.
It is crucial for local users to consider these reviews as personal experiences and understand that they may not be representative of every client's interaction with Hoglund Law. However, these accounts highlight the importance of clear communication, thorough case management, and professional conduct in the attorney-client relationship, particularly within the sensitive area of disability law.
When seeking legal representation, especially in complex areas like SSDI and SSI, local users should prioritize firms that demonstrate diligence, effective communication, and a commitment to client service. It is advisable to consider multiple factors beyond online reviews, such as the firm's experience, areas of specialization, communication style, and fee structure.
For local residents in need of legal assistance, particularly those considering applying for SSDI or SSI, it would be prudent to conduct thorough due diligence. This may involve scheduling initial consultations with multiple attorneys, asking detailed questions about their processes, understanding their communication practices, and clarifying their fees. While Hoglund Law is physically located in Milwaukee and offers services to the local community, potential clients should weigh the information available, including the experiences shared by previous clients, against their own needs and expectations.
The "Nearby Lawyers" platform aims to provide local users with information to make informed decisions when seeking legal counsel. We encourage users to consider the specific nature of their legal needs and to research various options available in the Milwaukee area. While Hoglund Law is listed as a nearby option, the provided reviews suggest a need for potential clients to carefully evaluate their services and approach to client communication and case management.
For individuals seeking assistance with SSDI or SSI claims, it is important to understand the eligibility requirements, the application process, and the possibility of appeals. Local attorneys specializing in this area should be knowledgeable about Social Security Administration regulations and procedures. Effective representation can involve guiding clients through the application process, gathering necessary medical and work history documentation, representing clients at hearings, and assisting with appeals if necessary.
Given the feedback regarding communication and case handling in the provided reviews, local users considering Hoglund Law for disability claims may want to specifically inquire about the firm's communication protocols, the roles and responsibilities of different team members (e.g., case managers vs. attorneys), and the process for addressing client concerns. Understanding these aspects can help potential clients form realistic expectations and ensure a more positive and effective attorney-client relationship.
In conclusion, Hoglund Law is a local law firm situated in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. While they appear to handle disability cases, the available reviews raise concerns about communication and case management. Local users seeking legal assistance in any area should conduct thorough research and consider various factors beyond proximity when selecting an attorney to ensure their legal needs are met effectively and professionally.
