Furniss distinguishes herself through her compassionate approach, genuine care for people, and expertise in guiding families through sensitive estate matters, particularly the establishment of trusts and potentially wills and probate.

While the review doesn't explicitly detail the physical environment of the office, the mention of a "conference room" suggests a professional and comfortable setting where client meetings are conducted privately. The fact that Anne Furniss herself assisted the client during document pick-up in the front of the office indicates a hands-on approach and a willingness to engage with clients directly, regardless of their position or the task at hand. This level of personal involvement suggests a client-focused practice where individuals can feel valued and attended to.

The primary service highlighted in the testimonial is the establishment of a trust. The client sought Anne Furniss's help urgently for their father, who was facing a serious illness. This implies that Anne E. Furniss has experience in handling time-sensitive and emotionally charged situations with professionalism and sensitivity. The review also mentions the arrangement for the client to pick up the documents for their father to review, suggesting that Anne Furniss accommodates client preferences and needs in the delivery of her services. Given that trust establishment is a key aspect of estate planning, it is highly likely that Anne E. Furniss also provides related services such as the drafting of wills, advance directives (like healthcare powers of attorney), and guidance through the probate process when a loved one passes away. Her demeanor, described as that of an "advocate as opposed to an estate attorney," suggests a proactive and supportive approach to protecting her clients' interests and wishes.

Several key features of Anne E. Furniss's practice emerge from the client's detailed account:

  • Compassionate and Caring Demeanor: The client immediately felt at ease due to Anne's compassion, grace, and personality, perceiving her as someone who genuinely cares about people. This is a significant differentiator, especially in emotionally challenging legal areas like estate planning.
  • Free Initial Consultation: Offering a free consultation allowed the client and their father to meet Anne without any financial commitment, facilitating an initial assessment of their needs and her suitability for the case. This demonstrates a client-friendly approach and builds trust from the outset.
  • Attentive Listening: Anne Furniss is praised for listening attentively to the client's father, even when he veered off-topic. This indicates patience and a willingness to understand the client's full context and concerns, fostering a comfortable and respectful interaction.
  • Pertinent Questioning: While being a good listener, Anne also asked pertinent questions to gather the necessary information for the estate planning process, demonstrating her professional diligence and thoroughness.
  • Personalized Service: The arrangement for document pick-up instead of mailing and Anne's direct assistance during the pick-up highlight a willingness to provide personalized service and go the extra mile for clients.
  • Humility and Approachability: The client noted that Anne doesn't seem to have an ego and is personable and kind. This approachability can make the often intimidating legal process feel more manageable and less stressful for clients.

I wasn’t sure who to see to help my dad establish his Trust, but it was urgently needed due to the fact that he is losing his battle with cancer. Distraught, I was led to Anne by my friend of 36 years. An older sister to me if you will, she highly recommended Anne and ensured me she would be a great choice. The consultation was free, so my dad agreed to go. He is a retired blue-collar man, and he wasn’t excited to spend any money let alone go through the process- but we had to move forward. When we got to the office, we were led to the conference room and waited to meet Anne. The moment she walked in, I knew dad was comfortable. Anne oozed compassion, grace, personality- and it was clear she cares about people. She asked pertinent questions, but she listened to my dad even when he veered off topic. We left that day feeling much more at ease. A few weeks later, it was time for me to pick up the documents for dad to review (we arranged to pick up vs mailed). When I arrived, Anne was up front and assisted me. That’s unheard of- this is a busy woman who likely has many things she’s juggling. You’d never know from her demeanor, though. She sat and chatted with me, she was personable and kind- and she doesn’t seem to have an ego of any kind. She clearly cares about people, and she reminds me almost of an advocate as opposed to an estate attorney. I would give her a higher rating/more stars if I could. If you need help with your estate, Anne is the clear choice.
