Hire at your own peril. If you are under 50 and can use the internet, you are more knowledgeable and capable than this clown show. I had the pleasure of paying good money to have my legal situation exacerbated and be given incorrect information numerous times. The indifference, incompetence, and negligence were absolutely profound. I'll be filing a complaint with the bar. Avoid at all costs.

I could not agree more with the 1 star reviews. Be concerned if your HOA hired them. They told our board they didn't have to count our cumulative votes because we haven't exercised that law in over 40 years. How ridiculous! We didn't need to until we had a self serving president. They came up with lame excuses and definitions for cumulative. There's one definition. We now have a board president that was not duly elected and complaints were filed with the IDFPR. They need to be held accountable. The next year they did an illegal bylaw change, changing the way votes are counted without a homeowner vote. Told us they were clarifying cumulative (????) They bullied and tried to intimidate homeowners with ridiculous cease and desist letters telling us we couldn't talk about what is happening with our property and board. They tried to order me out of my home during the winter and pandemic when a contractor came to work on MY home. They need to be disciplined for all the illegal advice they give, in my opinion. Know your rights and take action.

Dickler’s name matches his character and attitude fairly well. This “attorney” law firm is the worst firm you could hire if you need anything done with substantiating supporting material. Writing “legal opinions” with nothing to back it up is their expertise. Good luck hiring a law firm that works with fraudulent individuals to make a quick buck.

If I could give zero stars I would. This law firm represents the condo association that I live in. They have aligned themselves with a rogue board member and refuse to answer any questions. They write sub-par legal opinions with no citations to back them up. They don't print these opinions on letterhead because, "they don't want board members or owners contacting them." As if we couldn't just do a simple GOOGLE search. I'm an attorney myself and would never NEVER hire this incompetent and disgraceful law firm.

Look further. The reviews don’t lie. This firm represents our condo association yet refuses to engage any board members other than our president and hides behind a cloak of anonymity when it comes to any of their rulings or opinions. Refuses to communicate to the association on letterhead because they don’t want their firm information disclosed…. Really?

About Dickler, Kahn, Slowikowski & Zavell, Ltd.
For individuals and entities in Arlington Heights, Illinois, and the surrounding regions seeking legal counsel, the "Nearby Lawyers" category on various online platforms serves as a primary point of reference. Among the firms that may appear in such listings is Dickler, Kahn, Slowikowski & Zavell, Ltd. This introduction aims to provide an objective overview of the firm, drawing on its publicly available contact details and, notably, the comprehensive and strongly worded customer reviews to offer local users a critical perspective on what they might anticipate from engaging their legal services.
Dickler, Kahn, Slowikowski & Zavell, Ltd. is situated at 85 W Algonquin Rd Ste 420, Arlington Heights, IL 60005, USA. This address places the firm within a commercial and potentially professional office complex in Arlington Heights. Algonquin Road is a significant local artery, suggesting relatively easy access for clients from various parts of the community. A suite number (Ste 420) indicates that the office is located within a larger building, which typically provides a structured, professional, and private environment suitable for legal consultations. While specific details about the interior design, amenities, or general atmosphere of the firm's office space are not provided in the given information, a legal office commonly aims to offer a discreet and organized setting where clients can discuss sensitive matters in confidence.
The services provided by Dickler, Kahn, Slowikowski & Zavell, Ltd., as indicated by the customer reviews, appear to include legal representation related to homeowners' associations (HOAs), condominium law, and potentially broader real estate or civil dispute matters. The reviews specifically mention the firm being hired by an HOA board and providing advice regarding cumulative voting, bylaw changes, and homeowner interactions. This suggests their practice areas encompass guiding HOAs and condominium associations on governance, legal compliance, and handling disputes with residents. Their involvement in issuing "cease and desist letters" and advising on property access also points to their engagement in litigation prevention or resolution for property-related issues. While the provided information focuses heavily on their role in HOA representation, a firm with multiple named partners often has diverse practice areas that could extend to other forms of business law, litigation, or general civil practice.
The features of Dickler, Kahn, Slowikowski & Zavell, Ltd., as described by the provided customer testimonials, are presented in a highly critical and negative light, indicating significant dissatisfaction with their services. One client advises to "Hire at your own peril," expressing that even individuals "under 50 and can use the internet" are "more knowledgeable and capable than this clown show." This strong condemnation points to a perceived lack of expertise and competence. The client further details a situation where their "legal situation exacerbated" and they were given "incorrect information numerous times," leading to a profound sense of "indifference, incompetence, and negligence." This suggests a breakdown in reliable legal advice, effective case management, and diligent client care. The intention to file a complaint with the bar underscores the severity of the client's dissatisfaction.
The second review, which "could not agree more with the 1 star reviews," reinforces these negative perceptions, particularly in the context of HOA representation. Key criticisms include the firm allegedly advising an HOA board that "they didn't have to count our cumulative votes because we haven't exercised that law in over 40 years," which the client found "ridiculous" and indicative of providing "lame excuses and definitions for cumulative" where there is "one definition." This highlights a perceived issue with the accuracy and integrity of their legal advice, potentially leading to non-compliance with legal statutes and disputes. The client further alleges that the firm facilitated an "illegal bylaw change" without homeowner vote, under the guise of "clarifying cumulative." This points to perceived manipulation or disregard for proper governance procedures.
Furthermore, the firm is accused of "bullied and tried to intimidate homeowners with ridiculous cease and desist letters" to prevent discussion about property and board matters. This indicates an aggressive and potentially overreaching approach in handling disputes, which the client found to be a violation of their rights. A particularly egregious claim is the attempt to "order me out of my home during the winter and pandemic when a contractor came to work on MY home." This suggests a perceived overextension of authority or highly inappropriate conduct. The client explicitly states that the firm "need to be disciplined for all the illegal advice they give, in my opinion," urging others to "Know your rights and take action." Both reviews strongly advise to "Avoid at all costs" and "Don't waist your money on these clowns!"
In terms of promotional information, the firm's publicly available contact details are its phone number, (847) 593-5595, and mobile phone number, +1 847-593-5595. These are the direct means for prospective clients to initiate contact. However, for a firm listed under "Nearby Lawyers," online reviews serve as a powerful, albeit in this case highly detrimental, form of "promotion." The comprehensive and intensely negative feedback provided by these customers directly impacts the firm's public perception and its ability to attract new clients. While law firms typically rely on positive testimonials and a professional online presence to market their services, these reviews present a starkly different narrative, cautioning potential clients about alleged incompetence, negligence, and questionable legal advice. The explicit calls to "Avoid at all costs" and the mention of filing a complaint with the bar or IDFPR (Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation) represent significant deterrents for anyone considering their legal services.
In conclusion, Dickler, Kahn, Slowikowski & Zavell, Ltd., located in Arlington Heights, IL, appears to offer legal services, particularly in the domain of HOA and condominium law. However, based on the provided customer reviews, the firm faces severe criticism regarding its competence, the accuracy of its legal advice, its communication practices, and its overall professional conduct. Clients have reported experiences of exacerbated legal situations, incorrect information, negligence, bullying tactics, and alleged illegal advice. For individuals and entities in the "Nearby Lawyers" category conducting due diligence, these strongly negative testimonials would be a critical factor in their assessment of Dickler, Kahn, Slowikowski & Zavell, Ltd. as a potential legal representative.
