  • This people are practicing law in Nevada with a California license which is confusing. I know a homeowner that they never show up in his eviction court in las vegas. He lost his house and never got any help to find out this people from CDLG had filled a claim to receive the surplus from the trustee without his knowlege. I mean CDLG waited for him to get evicted to claim this homeowner surplus. Careful SCAM

  • Hi I tried to solve this issue with the consumer defense law office but its been almost a year and all I received was our home was repossessed. I paid them in the neighborhood of $17,000 and went to them to save our home and to handle the wrong doing of the wrongful fulclosure. I was told this law firm had real attorneys that would fight for us.i am so disappointed that nobody called us for any paperwork or any information about the case so what could that have done about the case. I just wak to retrive a new counsel on the wrongful doings of this case.

  • Prestigious, Diligent & Caring. If you are looking for assistance in foreclosure defense or wrongful foreclosure this firm is the best firm, you can go to. I have seen them settle case after case in favor of homeowners that have been taken advantage of not only by Banks but third parties. When you are referred over from the nonprofit alliance of consumer advocates, they will work with you at a fixed rate. There is no other firm like CDLG 100% recommended.

  • Please DONOT GO To THESE PEOPLE! Please do not trust these people! These people solicited my mother promising they were going to save her house. They took her money for representation and attorney fees and never called her back. They failed to appear in court once my mom's house had been sold. They never returned her calls, even when the judge at the court dates called them. They told her to sign papers for representation. Then they submitted under Attorney Anthony Caras name bogus petitions that he failed to support , represent or litigate. They grossly misadvised her to not resubmit a bankruptcy after the first one was missing documents. She followed their instructions and Shortly there after her home was sold and sold again and again. All without my mom's knowledge. Then immediately she was served with eviction paper. They never returned her money. She was left with nothing. Trust them was the worst mistake my mom did. They cost her home. She is a senior. Shame on you Anthony Cara, Consumer Defense and Consumer Assistance. They have done this to many families before. Look them up on the better business bureau. They have previous complaints for similar wrong doing to other families. Please do your research, call the California Bar Association. I know how scary losing your home is. I didn't know there where insidious vultures like these groups. Please beware. Be careful who you ask for help from , who you tell. Property in California is very sought after. People will do anything to steal it from the elderly and disadvantaged. Please do not use them! Please call the California Bar Association for referral to reputable representation.

You can reach their office by phone at the toll-free number (888) 615-6765 or via mobile at +1 888-615-6765. Based on the firm's name and the available client reviews, Consumer Defense Law Group appears to focus on assisting individuals facing foreclosure and potentially other consumer-related legal issues in the Costa Mesa and surrounding Orange County areas.

The physical environment of a law office specializing in consumer defense should be accessible and provide a sense of hope and support for clients who may be facing stressful financial situations. While specific details about the interior of Consumer Defense Law Group's office are not available online, it is reasonable to expect a professional setting with private consultation rooms where clients can discuss their financial and legal challenges confidentially. Administrative areas would be necessary for managing case files and client communications efficiently. The location at 2973 Harbor Blvd in Costa Mesa suggests a commercial area that is likely accessible to local residents. A physical office within the community can offer convenience for in-person meetings, document signing, and a more personal connection with the legal team handling their case.

Given the firm's name and the content of the client reviews, the primary legal services offered by Consumer Defense Law Group likely revolve around consumer law, with a specific emphasis on foreclosure defense. These services may include:

  • Foreclosure Defense: Providing legal representation and strategies to homeowners facing foreclosure proceedings. This can involve negotiating with lenders, exploring options for loan modification, pursuing legal challenges to the foreclosure process, and potentially litigating to protect the homeowner's rights. The positive review specifically mentions their expertise in fighting foreclosure and saving a client's home.
  • Consumer Law Matters: Depending on the scope of their practice, the firm may also handle other consumer-related legal issues such as debt collection defense, credit reporting errors, unfair business practices, and potentially issues related to consumer fraud or scams. However, the available information primarily focuses on foreclosure defense.
  • Legal Advice and Consultation: Offering clear explanations of legal options and providing clients with a solid plan of action to address their consumer law challenges. The positive review highlights their ability to explain options clearly.
  • Negotiation with Creditors: Representing clients in negotiations with lenders and other creditors to explore potential resolutions to financial difficulties.
  • Litigation: Representing clients in court proceedings when necessary to defend their rights in foreclosure or other consumer law matters.

Based on the available client reviews, the features of Consumer Defense Law Group appear to include:

  • Expertise in Foreclosure Defense: The positive review explicitly mentions their expertise in this area and their ability to save a client's home.
  • Clear Explanation of Options: They are praised for their ability to explain legal options clearly to clients who may be feeling overwhelmed.
  • Development of Solid Plans of Action: Clients appreciate their provision of a clear and effective plan to fight foreclosure.

However, it is crucial to objectively consider all available information. One review raises significant concerns regarding the firm's practices, alleging:

  • Practicing Law in Nevada with a California License (alleged): The review mentions potential jurisdictional issues and confusion regarding the firm's licensing. This would require verification through official sources.
  • Failure to Appear in Court (alleged): The review claims the firm did not appear in a client's eviction court in Las Vegas, resulting in the client losing their home. This is a serious allegation that warrants careful consideration.
  • Questionable Handling of Surplus Funds (alleged): The review alleges the firm filed a claim to receive surplus funds from a trustee without the homeowner's knowledge after the eviction. This raises serious ethical and legal concerns if substantiated.
  • "SCAM" Warning: The reviewer explicitly labels the firm's alleged actions as a "SCAM," indicating a highly negative experience and a warning to potential clients.

Given the stark contrast between the positive and negative feedback, it is essential for local users in Costa Mesa considering Consumer Defense Law Group to exercise extreme caution and conduct thorough due diligence. The positive review suggests potential effectiveness in foreclosure defense for some clients. However, the serious allegations in the negative review regarding practices in Nevada, failure to appear in court, and the handling of surplus funds cannot be ignored.

Promotional information is typically provided by the law firm itself. Based on the positive review, potential promotional aspects could include:

  • Proven Success in Foreclosure Defense: Highlighting instances where they have successfully helped clients save their homes.
  • Clear and Understandable Legal Guidance: Emphasizing their ability to explain complex legal matters in a way that clients can understand.
  • Development of Strategic Action Plans: Promoting their approach to creating effective strategies to address legal challenges.

However, in light of the serious allegations in the negative review, any potential promotional claims should be carefully scrutinized and verified by prospective clients. It is imperative to look beyond self-promotional materials and consider all available feedback, especially negative reviews that raise significant concerns about the firm's practices and ethical conduct.

For local users in Costa Mesa seeking legal assistance in foreclosure defense or other consumer law matters, Consumer Defense Law Group, located at 2973 Harbor Blvd, Costa Mesa, CA 92626, USA, and reachable at (888) 615-6765 or +1 888-615-6765, presents a complex picture within the "Nearby Lawyers" category. While one review praises their expertise in saving a home from foreclosure and their clear communication, another review makes very serious allegations of misconduct, including jurisdictional issues, failure to represent a client in court, and questionable handling of funds. Potential clients must weigh these conflicting accounts carefully and conduct thorough independent research before making a decision. This research should include:

  • Verifying Licensing: Confirming the firm's attorneys are properly licensed to practice law in California and any other relevant jurisdictions.
  • Seeking Additional Reviews: Looking for reviews on multiple independent platforms to gain a broader perspective on client experiences.
  • Checking with the State Bar: Contacting the State Bar of California to inquire about any disciplinary actions or complaints filed against the firm or its attorneys.
  • Requesting References: If possible, asking for references from past clients in similar situations.
  • Consulting with Other Attorneys: Seeking second opinions from other consumer defense attorneys in the Costa Mesa area.

In conclusion, while Consumer Defense Law Group in Costa Mesa may have provided positive outcomes for some clients facing foreclosure, the serious allegations raised in another review necessitate extreme caution. Local users considering this firm should prioritize thorough due diligence and independent verification of their practices before entrusting them with their legal matters. The starkly contrasting feedback underscores the importance of considering all available information and exercising prudence when selecting legal representation.
