Attorneys are to protect their clients and look out for their best interest. In my case Brandon Wong did not do that for me. I had a fighting chance to prove a 21 year common law marriage but instead he advised against it. So many issues and concerns I brought to his attention regarding my best interest and my children who were forced to accept a toxic situation. Brandon took an oath to fight for human rights and dignity. He did not do that for me. For all women out there please be very mindful and do your homework before you hire anyone. Brandon I wish I never hired you or was referred to you by someone I trusted. I learned a VERY VERY TOUGH LESSON. Brandon Wong shame on you for not having my best interest and for not doing the right thing for the right reasons.

DO NOT HIRE MATTHEW KATONA. From the very beginning, this experience was a nightmare. I came to him during one of the most stressful times of my life — I had just had a baby, was on a tight budget, and needed help navigating an upcoming child support hearing. Instead of support, I was met with arrogance, disrespect, and what felt like a blatant lack of empathy. We initially agreed on a payment plan, but not even 24 hours later, he called me with an attitude that made it clear he didn’t believe I could afford it. That kind of insinuation was insulting and unprofessional. I didn’t want to risk him not taking my case seriously, so I paid the full $2,500 up front — money I honestly didn’t have to spare, especially as a new parent. And what did I get in return? He showed up to our first court date looking completely disheveled — wrinkled, tattered dress shirt, loose tie, and bedhead. This is who I just entrusted with my case? This is the level of professionalism my hard-earned money bought? Originally, I hired him to help reduce my child support obligation. He immediately told me that wasn’t possible. So I shifted gears and told him I wanted to adjust my custody schedule instead. Even then, I was advised to reset two court dates, which only dragged things out further and ran up more billable hours — all while I was very clear that I was on a limited budget. But he didn’t care. He didn’t advise me with my best interests in mind; he advised me with his billing clock in mind. By the time I looked up, NOTHING had been accomplished — yet somehow, my $2,500 retainer had dwindled down to $500. No real updates, no progress, and worst of all, no transparency. He never walked me through where my money was going. Instead, I got a sudden message saying I’d need to pay more or he’d drop me before our next court date. Then came the most outrageous part: I found out I was being billed in quarter-hour increments for every single text message I sent. No warning, no breakdown, just a vague contract statement about “all contact” being billable — which they apparently interpret however they want. This was not communicated clearly or fairly. It felt like a trap. I understand I’m not a wealthy client. I’m not one of his inner-circle referrals. But that does NOT give anyone the right to treat me like I don’t matter. I came to him vulnerable, trusting, and hopeful — and instead, I walked away feeling taken advantage of, disrespected, and financially drained for nothing in return. Shame on Matthew Katona for treating clients this way. Shame on the firm for allowing it. And to anyone reading this: be extremely cautious who you choose to represent you. Some of these people don’t care about you at all — they just care about squeezing you for another check. That was my experience, and I wouldn’t wish it on anyone else. Consider this your warning
