Rebecca is a great communicator, explained things well as we went along. Unfortunately, through no fault of hers, the case was continued multiple times. I paid only one up front retainer. When my son was going to step in to my place for me, he paid a small retainer up front. Ultimately, the case was withdrawn and Rebecca refunded his retainer. We both found her to be very warm, caring, and honest.

Be WARNED!! Avoid this attorney at all costs she’s a greedy crook, very disorganized and not well versed on real estate law. Also, she lives in another state. I thought I would support the Black community by hiring her a gross mistake. She charged me a retainer and never explained, or sent an itemized statement to explain the charges, in which her retainer states, that her firm will send a monthly statement and discuss any charges over the amount of 200.00. That did not happen. Normally you should receive a refund for retainer fees, if the attorney is fair and upfront about their price structure. Throughout my case, I kept asking what do I owe? She replied you only have to pay filing fees[FALSE] However, she ended up charging me over 10,000 for setting up a mediation, filing, serving papers and writing two contracts one for two pages the other 4 pages, with no discovery. No physical court dates. I kept asking her how much is it to draw papers her excuse was I’m sorry I have a deposition. During a mediation she looked on Zillow to assess a property I snap instantly like did you have property description just Trash and overpriced. Overall she lacks, honesty, integrity and is not transparent about her pricing, find another attorney Quitemier is so good at real estate I had him but someone referred me to her. Do your self a favor and save Money by not going to her firm. Since 2021-2022 I paid her a 5,000 retainer, you didn’t file the paperwork until 2022. I had a mediation 2023. Not years of service. Procrastinating from your part hiking prices because you live on East Coast not in Kansas City. Get a Kansas City Attorney. Clearly not qualified. Be careful her retainer states any changes over 100.00 will be discussed prior to being charged and the client will receive a monthly itemization of charges. I never received that. I noticed this crook responded thanks for ALL THE YEARS OF SERVICE I WORKED WITH YOU ON ONE CASE. You never followed the contract.

Rebecca Martin was very professional and courteous. She clearly has the required legal knowledge needed to provide service to her clientele. Our experience with her was positive all around.
-
Ms. Rivers assisted me with receiving guardianship of my eldest son. She was adept and professional in explaining everything to me. I received his guardianship quickly.

Ms. Rivers will ignore the facts of your case, and offer no assistance without an unaffordable upfront retainer. She earned 1 star for a reason, BE WARNED!

On one hand, the firm's specialization in wills and trusts directly addresses a vital need for many Missourians seeking to plan their estates and secure their legacies. These include repeated complaints about a lack of transparency in billing, failure to provide itemized statements as per retainer agreements, and what clients perceived as excessive charges for limited work. Allegations of disorganization, procrastination, and a lack of proficiency in specific areas like real estate law also surface. The suggestion that the attorney resides out-of-state and its potential impact on service delivery is another critical point for locals who might expect an attorney to be physically present in Kansas City.
Therefore, suitability for Missourians considering Williams Wills and Trust and Rebecca Martin, Esq., hinges heavily on proactive due diligence. Locals are strongly advised to:
- Engage in a direct and detailed initial consultation: Use this opportunity to explicitly discuss billing practices, including itemized statements, communication protocols, and expectations for fee transparency.
- Clarify the attorney's physical presence and availability in Kansas City: If in-person meetings and local responsiveness are important, confirm how these aspects will be managed.
- Verify expertise: For specific legal areas beyond basic wills and trusts (e.g., real estate), ensure the attorney's experience aligns with your specific needs.
- Request references or additional information: If comfortable, ask for more details to gain a broader understanding of client experiences.
Ultimately, while the firm's stated focus on wills and trusts aligns with local needs, the conflicting client experiences mean that prospective clients in Missouri must take extra steps to ensure that their expectations for professionalism, communication, and financial transparency are met before committing to legal services from Williams Wills and Trust, Rebecca Martin, Esq.
