  • Stear clear from. Mr. Jaeger comes across as nice and caring but he is totally opposite. He will tell you anything to get you off the phone (if he answers) or out of the office! The worst public pretender in the state! Guess you get what you pay for! Never does what he asks of him will try to get you to plea out so he doesn't have to go to trail! Nothing but a headache. By far the worst attorney
  • Jeff Jaeger was assigned my case as a public defender in 2014. When a plea was offered to me Mr. Jaeger came to see me in the jail to talk about it. He told me there's no way id go to prison. After taking the plea and doing a PSI Mr. Jaeger returned to see me and told me my offer is now 3 years in prison plus 5 years ES. I confronted mr jaeger with his own words telling me I wouldn't go to prison. He then told me he must have been feeling optimistic that day. Be careful with this guy as your attorney!
  • Jeff is an absolute garbage attorney. He can't answer his phone ever. He will say he will call you back and doesn't. Always has an attitude and is disrespectful. He also will forget about ongoing cases and clients. Avoid these guys at all costs.
  • Most dishonest and self serving GAL we had the misfortune of being assigned to. Instead of helping my 9 year who suffers from ADHD, ODD and anxiety and (Now PTSS), thanks to HIM. She reported to me and him that she was being mistreated by her dad. Umpleby continued to allow her to stay with her dad, resulting in a split lip from her dad slapping her face very hard, bruising on her arms and a lump on her head that lasted 6 DAYS from her dad pushing her against a wall. I took her to our pediatrician and she reported it all to CPS, still Umpleby did nothing! He didn’t believe my daughter or the doctor! 3 long miserable years of him trying to pit my ex and I against each other, instead of trying to help us make reasonable and civil compromises. The worst part is what it did to our children’s relationship, they started fighting because my other daughter is very quiet and knew how to appease her dad while the other was being emotionally and physically harmed, while the other witnessed it but was afraid to talk in fear it would happen to her next. You can only imagine the unhealthy and damaging affects on both of them. My daughter began to pull out her eyelashes, eyebrows and hair on her head from the extreme stress she was under. Umpleby sided with my ex( he apparently does not like women) at one point he told me to stop talking and I drive him nuts! My ex took the kids his weekends up to a campground 45 miles from his home, but Umpleby said it was reasonable that I should have to go there to pick them up when our agreement said pick ups were at our homes. Very unprofessional, vindictive and heartless! Imagine having to tell your 9 year old that is being harmed that she has to go back where she wasn’t safe?! Police were told she was difficult and her dad was nearly trying to restrain her Never did she come to his house after being with me with cuts, bruises, split lips or lumps from being pushed against a wall. I could deal with her behaviors in approach ways. I was given the services of an excellent lawyer in the hope of settling this by The CEO of cousins subs who was my employer. She knew what I was going through and felt terrible for me, she wanted to help by getting her lawyer involved for me and my girls Greg was able to resolve our differences in 1 and 1/2 DAYS!!!! Greg presented the agreement to the court that next day, DONE! The judge dismissed Umpleby at that point and we only had to pay him a fraction of what he was trying to get from us . Very very sad that a so called professional assigned to a family could make things worse because he wanted to line his pockets!!
  • Had umpleby as a public defender for a revocation hearing. He told me calling witnesses and presenting evidence would not matter. He also lied to me. I fired him. Seems as though he was only concerned with going through the motions for his benifit even though it conflicted with my case.. for him another case more money.. I strongly advise against his council.

It is critically important for users to note that despite the name, Umpleby Law Office & Jaeger Law Office operate independently and are explicitly stated as "Not A Partnership." This distinction means that each office manages its own cases and client relationships separately. Therefore, experiences with one office may not reflect the services of the other.

Based on available online reviews, there appear to be significant concerns regarding the services provided by Mr. Jaeger within this context. It is essential for potential clients to carefully consider these reviews when making a decision about legal representation. Please be aware that these reviews represent individual experiences and may not be representative of every client interaction.

One reviewer advises to "Stear clear from" Mr. Jaeger, describing him as appearing "nice and caring" initially but allegedly being the "total opposite." The review claims he might say anything to end a conversation and is labeled the "worst public pretender in the state." This individual also suggests that the quality of service reflects the cost, implying dissatisfaction. Furthermore, the reviewer alleges that Mr. Jaeger does not fulfill his commitments and pressures clients to accept plea deals to avoid trial, leading to a negative overall experience.

Another review details a specific case where Jeff Jaeger was assigned as a public defender in 2014. The reviewer states that Mr. Jaeger advised them against going to prison when a plea deal was offered. However, after the plea was accepted and a Pre-Sentence Investigation (PSI) was conducted, the offered sentence reportedly changed to three years in prison plus five years of Extended Supervision (ES). When confronted with his earlier statement, Mr. Jaeger allegedly dismissed it as a result of feeling "optimistic" that day. This reviewer strongly cautions potential clients to be careful if Mr. Jaeger is assigned as their attorney.

Given these reviews, it is prudent for individuals seeking legal representation, particularly within the realm of public defense or criminal cases where Mr. Jaeger might be involved, to exercise a high degree of caution and consider these experiences. It is always recommended to thoroughly research and potentially seek second opinions before committing to legal counsel.

For users unfamiliar with some of the terms mentioned in the reviews, it might be helpful to understand the following:

  • Public Defender: A lawyer appointed by the court to represent individuals who cannot afford to hire a private attorney, typically in criminal cases where the possibility of jail or prison exists. The role of a public defender is to ensure the client's rights are protected throughout the legal process, which includes investigating the case, preparing a defense, representing the client in court, and negotiating plea deals if appropriate.
  • Plea Deal (or Plea Bargain): An agreement in a criminal case between the prosecutor and the defendant where the defendant agrees to plead guilty or no contest to a charge, often in exchange for a concession from the prosecutor. This could involve a reduction in charges, dismissal of some charges, or a recommendation for a more lenient sentence. Plea bargains help resolve cases more quickly, avoiding the time, expense, and uncertainty of a trial. However, defendants should fully understand the implications of a guilty plea, as it involves waiving several constitutional rights.
  • Pre-Sentence Investigation (PSI): A background check and social history of a convicted defendant, typically compiled by the probation department before sentencing. The PSI provides the court with information about the defendant's life, criminal history, and other relevant factors to assist the judge in determining an appropriate sentence. It often includes interviews with the defendant, their family, and others involved in their life.
  • Extended Supervision (ES): A period of supervision that may follow a prison sentence in some jurisdictions. During ES, the individual is released into the community but remains under the supervision of a probation or parole officer, with conditions they must adhere to. Violations of these conditions can lead to re-incarceration.

When facing legal issues, especially in criminal defense, the choice of attorney is paramount. It is crucial to select a lawyer who will advocate effectively on your behalf, communicate clearly, and act in your best interests. The reviews presented here raise concerns about these aspects in the context of Mr. Jaeger's services. Therefore, local users seeking legal assistance in Germantown, WI, should consider these perspectives alongside other information they gather when choosing a lawyer.

While this platform aims to provide objective information, the strong negative feedback regarding Mr. Jaeger suggests that potential clients should proceed with extreme caution. It is advisable to seek counsel from multiple sources, ask detailed questions about their approach to cases similar to yours, and ensure you feel confident in their ability to represent you effectively.

Remember, you have the right to choose your legal representation. Carefully weigh all available information to make an informed decision that best suits your legal needs. This platform serves as a starting point to discover nearby lawyers, but thorough personal research and due diligence are always recommended.
