Reviews

  • Reading Thomas S Hartzell's dated reviews he must have changed his method of practicing law. I would not be able to recommend this attorney for anything, even something as minor as a parking ticket. Having previously spoken to another attorney about my case Thomas Hartzell recommended that I do not use Tucson attorney Carlos Medina as Mr. Medina was facing being disbarred for sexual assault. Having made a very poor decision to have Tom Hartzell represent me in a minor case it was identified that Mr. Hartzell may not have acted ethically in making promises for retaining his representation and moreso, failed to provide effective counsel by not meeting with me to discuss my case prior to trial, failing to interview the officers involved and he did not review available evidence yet falsely indicated to me that he had. Mr. hartzell is ineffective and ultimately created additional legal expenses to pursue effective representation elsewhere after his failure. Clearly he can be expecting an Az Bar complaint. After inquiring into Mr. Hartzell’s statement about Tucson attorney Carlos Medina this may also lack foundation and may be a further ethical violation at minimum.
  • He is a court appointed attorney from my first impression I truly thought I was finally getting someone on my side for once . I am giving him two stars only because he visited me while incarcerated and put most of my records in a briefing to present to the federal 9th circuit court of appeals. Now I am giving him only two stars because he has not been in contact with me since I've seen him in April 2017. I was never brought in to go over his work before he sent it off and also stated I had nothing to go forward on with my appeal, I learned this from the copy of the briefing. Then a week later I received a letter from the courts (not him) that he had also filed a motion to withdraw as my counsel, with no explanation why he decided to do so and has not called nor returned my inquiries on the matters.... I'm at a loss with this legal issues and counted on his help to fight for my life basically and I believe he has failed me as a client ... Im being kind giving any rating and honestly feel I have a better chance by myself, definitely won't not recommend his services.

Conclusion: Why This Place is Suitable for Locals

For residents of Arizona, particularly those in the Tucson area, considering legal representation from Tom Hartzell involves weighing various factors, especially given the nature of the available public reviews.

Firstly, his established presence at 239 N Meyer Ave in downtown Tucson offers a convenient and accessible location for local clients. This central positioning can simplify the logistics of attending meetings and court proceedings, which is a practical benefit for individuals navigating legal challenges within the region.

Secondly, the information suggests experience in handling criminal defense matters and federal appeals. However, it is crucial for locals to carefully consider the comprehensive feedback available. The provided reviews contain significant negative concerns, alleging issues such as ineffective counsel, failure to meet with clients, misrepresentation regarding evidence review, and lack of contact. One review also mentions potential ethical violations, including alleged false statements about another attorney and an anticipated Bar complaint. Another review, from an incarcerated individual, highlights a lack of communication post-briefing and a unilateral motion to withdraw. These specific and serious concerns suggest potential challenges related to communication, client engagement, and the quality of representation from the perspective of these reviewers.

Therefore, while the office is locally accessible and appears to have experience in specific legal areas like appeals, potential clients in Arizona should approach with caution. It is highly recommended to conduct thorough due diligence, including perhaps seeking multiple consultations and inquiring specifically about the issues raised in public feedback, to determine if Tom Hartzell's practice aligns with their expectations for communication, client care, and effective legal representation. Given the nature of legal services, trust and consistent communication are paramount, and direct inquiry into these areas is essential before making a decision.
