This introduction focuses on The Schoen Firm, LLC, located at 1211 28th St S #205, Birmingham, AL 35205, USA. Situated in Birmingham, Alabama, the firm's location suggests accessibility for residents within the city and surrounding communities seeking legal counsel.
The physical environment of a law firm typically aims to provide a professional and confidential space for client meetings and legal work. While specific details regarding the office setting of The Schoen Firm, LLC are not provided in the available information, it is common for law offices to maintain an environment conducive to private discussions and the handling of sensitive legal matters. Clients can generally expect a setting where they can feel comfortable discussing their legal needs with their attorney.
Based on the limited information available, The Schoen Firm, LLC appears to handle cases related to probate and estate planning. One positive review specifically mentions Kayla Schoen's knowledge in these areas. However, it is crucial to acknowledge a significantly contrasting negative review detailing a deeply unsatisfactory experience with the firm's handling of an estate administration matter. This discrepancy in client experiences warrants careful consideration.
One detailed negative review describes a prolonged and allegedly mishandled estate administration process. The reviewer expresses disappointment and distress over perceived lack of communication, transparency, and diligence. Specific grievances include the attorney, Mrs. Schoen, allegedly failing to provide updates on the case status and court proceedings, not informing the client about court date cancellations, and being unresponsive to phone calls and emails for extended periods. The review also mentions discrepancies regarding payment arrangements and a lack of proactive communication regarding important case-related information that the client reportedly learned from other parties involved.
The negative review further describes multiple canceled court dates attributed to the attorney's alleged failure to complete necessary actions prior to court. The reviewer recounts a period of difficulty in contacting the attorney leading up to a scheduled court date, followed by an email on the day before the hearing in which Mrs. Schoen reportedly apologized for negligence, stated she was closing her practice, withdrawing from the case, and would mail the case file and a refund. As of the date of the review, the client claimed to have not received these items. The emotional toll of this experience on the client and their family is also highlighted.
Conversely, a brief positive review describes Kayla as a "fantastic attorney" who prioritizes clients and is detail-oriented, with specific knowledge in probate and estate planning. This reviewer highly recommends her services for legal issues in these areas.
Considering these contrasting reviews, it is challenging to definitively characterize the typical client experience at The Schoen Firm, LLC. The significant negative feedback raises concerns about communication, case management, and client service in at least one instance. However, the positive review suggests that some clients have had favorable experiences, particularly in probate and estate planning matters.
Given the conflicting accounts, potential features of The Schoen Firm, LLC could be perceived differently depending on individual experiences. On one hand, the positive review suggests expertise in probate and estate planning and a client-focused approach. On the other hand, the negative review raises serious concerns about responsiveness, transparency, and the level of care provided in at least one complex case.
There is no promotional information provided in the given data. Law firms sometimes offer free consultations or highlight specific areas of success to attract clients, but no such details are available for The Schoen Firm, LLC in this context.

In conclusion, The Schoen Firm, LLC, located in Birmingham, AL, appears to specialize in areas such as probate and estate planning. While one reviewer offers a positive assessment of the attorney's skills and client focus, another provides a detailed account of a highly negative experience involving significant issues with communication, case handling, and professionalism. Local users should carefully consider these contrasting perspectives when evaluating The Schoen Firm, LLC for their legal needs and are encouraged to seek further information to make an informed decision. Contacting the firm directly at (205) 317-3685 may provide additional insights, but the publicly available reviews present a mixed picture of client satisfaction.

It saddens me to read all of the positive glowing reviews describing the work of Mrs. Shoen to be expeditious, through, responsive and accurate knowing that my family's experience has been nothing short of borderline passive aggressive, unresponsive and non transparent almost from the very beginning. This harrowing experience began for my family and I around the end of August of 2018 when my beloved uncle died unexpectedly. We began paperwork for me to administer estate by which this process has been grossly bumbled through and fumbled 95% of the time. Mrs. Shoen didn't keep my family and I updated as to the status of the case and judges wishes at any point in time. Nor did she even bother to let us know that court dates had been canceled due to heirs requests for extension. Nor did she return our phone calls or emails in a timely manner despite being paid $1000 up front to get started on our case. Then she all of a sudden calls me hurriedly around Thanksgiving black Friday to request the remaining funds due to be paid which was not in line with our original verbal agreement. I contested her request and the amount was decreased to $228 with the remaining to be paid after estate opening. After this scenario, things all seemed to go downhill rapidly. Heirs we calling my family with information from probate we had no knowledge of despite having hired Kayla to be our representative which was disheartening and also very stressful. To date we have had 3 canceled court dates on technicality of not having all necessary actions completed prior to court by my attorney. My last court date was June 26 at 2pm by which I spent the entire month or so prior trying to contact Kayla for confirmation and a check in to ensure our readiness to move forward. My calls and texts were not answered and I never heard anything back from her. Not even a return email was received until the day before the court date. Mrs. Shoen apologized in her email for her gross negligence in handling my uncle's case and said she had closed her practice and that she was withdrawing herself from my case and mailing my case file and a refund check for all money's paid back to me. I spoke with her about this on June 25th. I asked that she send me the USPS confirmation so that I could follow up on the file and refund myself, but she never sent it. Today it is July 5, 2019 and I still have not received anything by mail as promised and also no response to my follow up email...Throughout all this long drawn out process my mom has fallen Ill and lost 40lbs due to stress. To boot, I am dealing with my own distinct stresses in trying to get this estate resolved for my mom because my uncle was her best and only close friend. I know Kayla may not understand this because it isn't her family or her mom. I understand that Mrs Shoen has been dealing with quiet a few deeply challenging issues of her own here lately and that's why I've been so lenient as I know she is probably still learning how to juggle lifes difficulties simultaneously with lifes obligations and workplace responsibilities. I have compassion for her and truly wish her the best in life but there was left much to be desired from the very minimal level of care attention and concern given to our case. I just wish I would known this before hand as my mom and I have wasted an entire year and still have yet to even get the estate opened. I'm so disappointed, stressed and literally exhausted from this process and dealing with lackadaisical representation has made this process the most cumbersome experience ever. At least when I finally get the file and refund I can move on with my life. I pray and wish I had had the same positive experience as some others have had.
Kayla is a fantastic attorney who always puts her clients first and pays attention to detail. She has helped me out numerous times with cases and is extremely knowledgeable with probate and estate planning issues. I highly recommend hiring her for any legal issues you may have.
