The Morris Law Practice Introduce

When seeking legal representation, particularly for sensitive matters like family law and child custody, finding a lawyer who is both competent and communicative is paramount. Within the platform category "Nearby Lawyers," The Morris Law Practice, situated at 21650 Oxnard St #1910 in Woodland Hills, CA, is presented as a local legal service provider. The available information includes contact details and contrasting customer reviews, which offer varying perspectives on the firm's services and client experience.

The physical environment of The Morris Law Practice, located in an office building in Woodland Hills, likely provides a standard professional setting for consultations and case management. While specific details about the office atmosphere are not provided, clients can generally expect a space conducive to confidential discussions and legal proceedings. The accessibility of the Woodland Hills location may be a convenient factor for individuals residing or working in the surrounding areas.

Based on one of the customer reviews, it appears that The Morris Law Practice handles family law cases, specifically child custody disputes. The review mentions the client seeking an "aggressive attorney" for a child custody case. While this is the only explicitly mentioned area of practice in the provided information, it is possible that The Morris Law Practice handles other types of legal matters as well. To gain a comprehensive understanding of their service offerings, direct inquiry with the firm would be necessary. Potential additional areas of practice for a general practice law firm could include:

  • Divorce and separation
  • Spousal support
  • Child support
  • Modifications of court orders
  • Other family-related legal issues
  • Potentially other areas of law such as estate planning or general civil litigation, depending on the firm's expertise.

The features of a law practice typically include the attorney's legal expertise, communication style, client management practices, and dedication to achieving favorable outcomes. However, the two provided customer reviews paint a starkly different picture of The Morris Law Practice in these aspects. One review expresses significant dissatisfaction, detailing difficulties in communication, a perceived lack of preparation and engagement in court, and allegations of mishandling the case. This reviewer highlights issues such as unanswered calls, lack of proactive guidance, late court appearance, and the attorney's apparent unfamiliarity with the case details in court. The reviewer ultimately decided to terminate the services and indicated intentions to pursue legal action and report the firm to the bar.

Conversely, the other review offers a positive perspective, describing The Morris Law Practice as a "wonderful firm" that goes "out of their way to help you." The reviewer praises Mr. Morris's kindness and knowledge, stating it is an "honor" to have him as their attorney and that no legal matter is too big or small for the firm to handle. This positive feedback suggests a potentially different experience for some clients.

In terms of promotional information, none is explicitly provided. Law firms often promote themselves by highlighting their success rates, specific areas of expertise, client testimonials (typically positive ones), and their commitment to client satisfaction. The drastically contrasting reviews provided here do not offer any clear promotional messaging. The positive review could be interpreted as a form of promotion, but it is essential to consider it alongside the detailed negative experience shared by another client.

For local users in Woodland Hills and the surrounding areas searching for "Nearby Lawyers," The Morris Law Practice is a geographically accessible option. However, the significant discrepancy between the two customer reviews necessitates careful consideration. The detailed negative review, in particular, raises serious concerns about communication, case management, and courtroom representation. Potential clients should weigh this feedback heavily alongside the positive experience shared by another reviewer.

Given the conflicting accounts, it is strongly recommended that individuals considering The Morris Law Practice conduct thorough due diligence. This should include:

  • Attempting to find additional online reviews from various sources to gain a broader understanding of client experiences.
  • Contacting The Morris Law Practice directly to inquire about their expertise in the specific area of law relevant to their needs.
  • Requesting an initial consultation to discuss their case and assess the attorney's communication style and understanding of the legal matter.
  • Asking for references or examples of successful case outcomes in similar situations.
  • Clarifying the firm's communication protocols, including who will be the primary point of contact and expected response times.
  • Discussing the retainer fee structure and payment options in detail.

Choosing a lawyer is a critical decision that can significantly impact the outcome of a legal matter. It is crucial to select a legal representative who is not only knowledgeable but also responsive, communicative, and dedicated to advocating for their client's best interests. The conflicting reviews for The Morris Law Practice highlight the importance of thorough research and careful consideration before making a hiring decision.

In conclusion, The Morris Law Practice in Woodland Hills, CA, is a local legal option for those seeking legal assistance. While one review praises the firm's helpfulness and Mr. Morris's expertise, another provides a detailed account of significant dissatisfaction with communication, case handling, and courtroom representation. Local users are advised to approach The Morris Law Practice with caution, conduct thorough research, and seek further information to determine if their services align with their individual legal needs and expectations.

I'm not one to write reviews but I felt I had to save someone the time and money. I'm a single mother and hired Mr Morris back in October 2023. When I called he immediately answered but told me he was at church and would get back to me. He did indeed got back to me. I told him I really needed help and I needed an aggressive attorney dealing with my Childs father for my child custody case. I decided to go with him because he seemed trustworthy and he was the only lawyer that allowed payments towards the retainer fee. I felt so relieved to have an attorney and someone to represent me. After my contracts were signed he was so difficult to get in touch with. He never asked me questions about my case and I never heard from anyone unless I called them. He has a call center answering once you become a client and he has 2 paralegals named Amy and Kristina. I always spoke to Kristina and she said I needed to relax and that my case was a simple case. Implying that it was going to be smooth and I had nothing to worry about. When they finally filed the paperwork for me to serve my daughters father I had to keep calling them in regards to that matter also. It was a week before my case and I still hadn't heard anything back from Kristina or Mr Morris.. Coming to find out she had a death in her family and Mr Morris was on vacation in Belize. Since he was gone my daughters fathers attorney managed to get the case moved to the Whittier courthouse when we filed in LA and had them served. So now I'm the recipient and he's the petitioner. He let this other Attorney walk all over him and call the shots. Btw The judge in Whittier was a nightmare. She has terrible reviews and is bias. But At this point my anxiety is through the roof because I can't get in touch with anyone, we don't have a case to present because they still haven't asked or guided me on anything to do. He didnt tell me to start documenting anything or pulling up text! Nothing. I had to have my mom call from her number because once you become a client they screen your calls. She pretended to be interested in hiring him and guess what! He called her back. After a month of not speaking to me at all. So he finally gave me an appointment to meet him at his office to go over my case. He never wrote down any notes of asked me what the other party could have against me. Nothing! Finally court, Mr Morris showed up 30 minutes late to court! He didn't register us, when we were in front of the judge he didn't know my case. The Judge asked him what was the status quo and he turned and asked me. I almost got contempt of court because he wasn't saying anything of substance out of his mouth that I told him. They judge kept asking him what was his point. He was talking circles. It was completely embarrassing. He had no fight in court! He didn't take notes at all in court either. You are better off representing yourself. After that horrible experience, I was so distraught. I fired him the next day. He still proceeded to tell the third party who I was going through to pay for him that he rendered all my services and I still owed him 4000 dollars. I will be suing him and reporting them to the bar. He's a money hungry lazy attorney that uses his faith as a front. He doesn't care about making sure you keep your family together.

Matthew Morris is not a good person to go to , he has wasting my time and money for the past 8 months . They have a Basecamp chatroom supposedly they could reach you right away and that was a lie , they take longer to get to you and they always have excuses why his busy or why something can’t get done . Doesn’t have his owe office . His paralegal and secretary are rude and they try to force me to sign something that I wasn’t comfortable with . So I fired him and got my refund back . Don’t waste your money on this person . Trust me he might act like he knows what his doing but his all talk . His lazy and when your telling him about the the case his never writing anything down . The lawyer I have now has done more in 2 months, Compare to This person done nothing . You should be able to talk to your lawyer at all times . This person has excuses and the paralegal and secretary always cover up for him . Make sure you read what your signing and they are not allowed to force you to sign anything .
