So my experience with matt went like this … I had a reckless driving and speeding ticket from a state trooper claiming i went 91 in a 55mph on the garden state pwy , which obviously was exaggerated by the trooper none the less i had court and i was determined to fight this ticket as i am a out of state driver ( nyc ) and never EVER gotten any tickets prior to this . I showed up to court saw judge “Mabie” who was a prick to be honest , and the prosecutor was a piece of work alone he thought he was god or something but thats another story . After hearing the plead deal from the prosecutor which was horrible for a first time offender and out of state driver , the deal was to plead guilty to reckless driving but they would dismiss the speeding . Why on earth would i plead guilty to the more serious charge ( reckless ) and not the lesser serious charge ( speeding ) ? Beyond stupid . After i denied that plead i asked for a public defender which long and behold was matt . After receiving the notice in the mail i contacted matt via phone , email, voicemail . NO RESPONSE WHATS SO EVER . After trying numerous times i finally gave up . The prosecutor who was Again a piece of work ! , Put my next court date to be an In-Person court date to try an force me to plead guilty to the charge , which obviously i did not and took my 1hour and 40 minute drive to Toms river municipal court , after waiting 2 hours almost for the 1pm group to start , MR.Matt sage came into the waiting area with a million dollar smile talking to every client he never responded too one by one . He briefly talks to you about your case and how he will negotiate with the prosecutor on your behalf in under 2 mins . Here i was going to beg the court to adjourn so i can hire a lawyer , and matt came to save the day , he negotiated to plead guilty to speeding 19mph over which was 4 point tickets and dismissed the reckless driving a 5 point ticket . So to do the math i had 10 points prior and matt got it to 4 points total . Now by the looks of the court room and the feel for the judge ( James Gluck ) and prosecutor you can tell that the court room there specifically does not care if you are not guilty to them YOU ARE GUILTY NO MATTER WHAT AND ALL THEY WANT IS YOUR MONEY . So with that being said no one walked out not guilty but at-least they got a fair offer . Now you may ask why did i give matt the 5 star review ? Well to answer that question , as i said before i was ready to hire another attorney to defend me which wouldve cost me 1,500$ for the same result !! Another attorney quoted me 2,500$!!guess what ? For the same result !! The most cheapest attorney i could find wanted 500$ for this case and guess what wouldve been the result ? The same !! The court only charged me 200$ for Matt so i feel i got my money worth with him and got the same results . Matt defended 20 clients in front of me that day , and not 1 person gave him a 5 star review . I felt i owed him this review . Matt if you’re reading this , we the people appreciate you !! Side note - As far as taking the case to trial , im not sure if matt does that but if he does i would use him over a private attorney .
This guy is completely useless, typical lawyer. I've been trying to contact this guy for months. Godforbid he return a phone call. He doesn't keep in contact with clients or otherwise put any work in. Now I understand why he only has 1 star ratings. Even one star for this guy is being generous, I wish there was negative stars. If you're thinking about using this guy...DON'T!
