Being situated on Court Street places them within a hub of legal and administrative offices, likely providing accessible services for families involved in the court system.
Based on the name, The Children's Law Center primarily focuses on legal issues directly impacting children. This typically includes representation in areas such as:

The client reviews present a mixed perspective on The Children's Law Center. One review offers a highly positive experience, praising the friendly and professional staff, particularly highlighting attorney Rayna L. for her kindness, care, and professionalism. This reviewer expressed initial worry that was quickly dispelled by the welcoming and supportive demeanor of the attorney and the office, leading to confidence in their ability to care for the child's best interests.
However, other reviews express significant concerns and dissatisfaction with the services provided by The Children's Law Center. These negative reviews raise serious allegations, including:
- Not prioritizing family reunification: One reviewer claims the facility is "not in the business in keeping families together," suggesting a bias against one or both parents.
- Preference for one parent over the other: Multiple negative reviews assert that the center's lawyers show favoritism towards one parent, potentially undermining the child's relationship with the other parent.
- Lack of private communication with children: Concerns are raised that lawyers do not meet privately with the child, allowing the other parent to be present and potentially influence the child's statements. This lack of private communication could compromise the child's ability to express their genuine feelings and preferences freely.
- Negative experiences with specific attorneys: One review specifically advises parents to "run" if their child is assigned attorney Stephanie Pearl, alleging a lack of care for the child's well-being.
- Advice to seek alternative representation: One reviewer explicitly advises parents, whether primary or secondary, to use lawyers for children in Manhattan instead of The Children's Law Center in Brooklyn, indicating a strong negative opinion of the agency's practices.
- Importance of obtaining contracts and service details: In light of negative experiences, one reviewer advises parents who have no choice but to use The Children's Law Center to obtain detailed contracts outlining the services to be provided to the child. This suggests a lack of transparency or potential discrepancies between promised and delivered services.
- Concerns about potential coaching of children: The lack of private communication is linked to the concern that children might be swayed or coached on what to say, potentially compromising the objectivity of the child's input in legal proceedings.
Given the stark contrast in the provided reviews, it is crucial for potential clients to approach The Children's Law Center with caution and to conduct thorough due diligence. The positive review highlights the potential for a friendly and professional experience with certain attorneys, while the negative reviews raise serious concerns about the center's overall approach, potential biases, and communication practices.
Currently, there is no information available regarding any specific promotional offers or fee structures for The Children's Law Center. Legal fees for child advocacy services can vary depending on the complexity of the case, the involvement of the court, and the specific arrangements made with the center. It is essential for potential clients to inquire about fees and payment policies during an initial consultation.

The conflicting reviews underscore the importance of thorough research and due diligence when selecting legal representation, especially in sensitive cases involving children. While one client reported a positive experience, the serious allegations made in the negative reviews regarding bias, lack of private communication with children, and potential disregard for the child's best interests should not be ignored. Parents are advised to proceed with caution, ask detailed questions about the center's practices, and ensure they have a clear understanding of the services to be provided and the approach taken in their child's case.
In conclusion, The Children's Law Center in Brooklyn provides legal services for children in various legal proceedings. While one review highlights positive aspects such as friendly staff and professional attorneys like Rayna L., numerous other reviews raise significant concerns about the center's approach to family dynamics, communication with children, and overall advocacy. Children’s law center in Brooklyn is a very friendly, awesome place with super professional staff and super kind and super professional lawyers. Attorney Rayna L is very kind, caring and very professional on what she does. Before visiting yesterday I was little worried about my meeting with her, but she happened to be so welcoming, caring and super nice. I am now very glad and confident in her and her office to care for my son’s best interest. Thank you
This facility is not in the business in keeping families together. I would advise any parent whether you are the primary or secondary parent to please use lawyers for children in Manhattan instead of this agency. If you had no choice but to have these scum bags as lawyers for your children make sure to obtain a copy of the contract, what services are they to provide to your child and any other pertinent information you would need should the need to sue or complaint to the bar associate about them. Instead of wanting the child to see and interact with both parents these people prefer one parent over the other. They do not communicate in private with your child, the other parent is around and can hear them, creating an environment in which the child can be sway and sometimes coached on what to say. If your child gets Stephanie pearl as an attorney run and mandate the court to give him or her a different attorney this lady does not care about your child well being
I don't know who's running this place, these law guardians are corrupt, endangering the welfare of children. Appearing in court with hearsay, not lifting a finger to investigate a case, no fact finding, not fair, not impartial to the parties. Who would believe a one year old baby spoke to the law guardian? Come on now, absurd. This office needs to be investigated and cases need to be reviewed that's what would be in the best interests of the children. Toddlers talk to the law guardian? Make this make sense. Law guardians are either working with unqualified judges or attorneys they're fond of but they're definitely not working for the best interests of the children. Understand that people can appeal decisions made by family court judges and you will have to account for the work you did on the case and show what you based your decision on, now is a law guardian going to tell a judge in the appellate division that they spoke with a baby and the baby told them what they wanted and that's what the law guardian based her decision on? Worse than anyone could imagine, poor kids. Hope someone investigates this office and reviews the cases.
I’ve had two advocates. The first was a black woman. Always in favor of the mother, blatantly biased. Actually talk to me as if I was a child. Current one always bragging about her schooling and her grades. She thinks because she took theses classes at Columbia as if that really matters. That it makes he an honorary ally to brown and black folks. It would actually matter if you used your privilege for good and you actually practiced what you learned class. The nerve. Don’t get me started on her superiority complex on religion. She had the audacity to say that Passover was the only religious holiday. I quickly reminder her that along with Passover is Good Friday, Ramadan, Holy Thursday. I need her to reques herself off my case.
I’m a Black Marine with 17 years of service to my country. My ex husband (white hispanic, could pass for white) took my child away because he didn’t want to get divorced (he was abusive and a substance abuser). The Children’s Brooklyn Law centers Gaurdian Da litem, became completely biased in the fathers contempt. I asked the center if my son can at least see a therapist because he was emotionally unstable due to the stress of divorce. They said no my son is fine that I was making things up and that I was not allowed to take my son to see a therapist. Now, my sons school constantly calls me pertaining to emotional issues with my son. The father is also being negligent to the child’s medical appointments. I tried to reach back out to the Da Litem, but she’s avoiding me (probably because the decision was a mistake). This center failed to protect a vulnerable child. the child's attorney did not investigate and did not provide any findings of myself being a bad parent only thing they held against me was that I’m a Marine. It made me absolutely very sad as if I haven’t been through enough already being who I am in the Marine Corps. What a mess! Very sad situation and I’m sure it’s happening quite often in NYC. The legal system in NY is broken. I will dedicate my life and everything I have to fight for my sons well being. I’m considering a civil suit.
