• My experience with Sterk Family Law was deeply disappointing—both ethically and professionally. I hired them to help me resolve a lingering issue from my divorce: getting a quit claim deed signed and enforcing previous court orders. Instead, I was left with over $8,000 in legal fees for minimal results—and an overwhelming sense that I had been manipulated and financially taken advantage of. The attorney assigned to my case was unprepared for court, and during the hearing, she quoted an inflated figure for attorney fees without documentation—so inflated that the judge outright rejected it. Even she admitted afterward that she had asked for too much. Yet, I was still held financially responsible for their mistake. Worse, when I brought up my concerns, the firm’s owner, Gwen, refused to take full accountability. Instead, she deflected and justified their handling of the case as “strategic.” I was never given the transparency or support that a client deserves. They also engage in what I can only describe as emotional manipulation—calling you to “check in” and see how you’re doing, only to bill you for those calls. It creates the illusion of care, but in truth, it’s just another tactic to pad your bill. What’s most upsetting is that I chose them because I’d worked with them professionally through local chambers. I expected integrity. What I got was a law firm that gaslights clients, charges excessively, and fails to deliver meaningful results. If you’re looking for real advocacy, clear communication, and accountability—look elsewhere. My only tangible outcome after working with Sterk was a signed quit claim deed, and I had to pay thousands for that alone. I’ve worked with many professionals in the legal world, and this was by far my worst experience.
