Stacey Schmidt Law Firm Introduce

For residents in Cottonwood Heights, Utah, and the surrounding areas seeking legal counsel, the Stacey Schmidt Law Firm, located at 6778 S 1300 E Suite D, Cottonwood Heights, UT 84121, is listed within the "Nearby Lawyers" platform category. This introduction aims to provide an objective overview of the firm based on the available customer reviews, highlighting both positive and negative experiences to allow local users to form their own informed opinions.

The provided feedback presents a stark contrast in client experiences. One reviewer offers high praise for an attorney named Chad Gladstone, indicating a long-standing and positive professional relationship spanning over a decade. This client, who immigrated to the United States with limited English proficiency and no prior knowledge of the legal system, describes Chad Gladstone as an "outstanding and fair attorney" and a "great aid and friend." The review emphasizes Gladstone's helpfulness, the significant positive impact of his assistance on the client's life, and the client's repeated referrals to friends who also received immense help. This positive testimonial suggests that at least one attorney within the Stacey Schmidt Law Firm is capable of providing excellent legal representation, characterized by fairness, understanding, and effective communication, even in challenging circumstances.

However, another review paints a drastically different picture of the firm's services, detailing a highly negative experience. This client uses strong terms such as "lazy, haphazard, missed crucial issues, and completely incompetent" to describe their interaction. The review alleges a lack of communication, with the attorney reportedly not returning calls or emails despite billing for opening them. Furthermore, the client claims inadequate preparation for a hearing, stating that the attorney relied on the client's notes during the proceedings, leading to criticism from the judge regarding the quality of representation. This deeply critical feedback raises serious concerns about the firm's professionalism, attention to detail, and commitment to providing competent legal services. The reviewer even expressed a disturbing suspicion of the attorney secretly working for the opposing side, underscoring the profound dissatisfaction and lack of trust experienced.

Given these conflicting accounts, it is challenging to definitively characterize the overall environment and typical service quality of the Stacey Schmidt Law Firm. It is possible that different attorneys within the firm have varying levels of expertise and commitment to client service. The positive review specifically mentions Chad Gladstone and refers to "Schmidt & Gladstone," suggesting that the firm may operate under a different name or have undergone changes. The negative review does not specify the attorney's name, making it difficult to ascertain if the issues described are isolated to a particular individual or indicative of broader systemic problems within the firm.

Based on the available information, the services offered by the Stacey Schmidt Law Firm likely encompass a range of legal representation, potentially including:

  • General legal counsel and representation.
  • Assistance with various legal cases, as indicated by the positive review spanning "several cases" over a decade.
  • Representation in legal hearings and court proceedings.
  • Communication and interaction with clients regarding their legal matters.
  • Preparation of legal documents and case strategies.

However, the starkly contrasting reviews highlight the potential for significant variability in the quality and nature of these services depending on the specific attorney and the individual case.

The features of the Stacey Schmidt Law Firm, as perceived by clients, present a mixed picture:

  • Potential for Outstanding Representation: As evidenced by the positive review of Chad Gladstone, the firm may have attorneys capable of providing excellent legal service, characterized by fairness, strong advocacy, and effective communication.
  • Risk of Inadequate Service: The negative review raises serious concerns about potential issues with laziness, haphazardness, missed crucial details, incompetence, and poor communication.
  • Variable Communication: One client praised the attorney as a "great aid," implying good communication, while the other explicitly complained about the failure to return calls or emails.
  • Potential Lack of Preparation: The negative review suggests a lack of adequate preparation for legal proceedings.

There is no promotional information available for the Stacey Schmidt Law Firm in the provided text. Local users considering this firm should carefully weigh the drastically different experiences reported by previous clients. The positive review, while laudatory of a specific attorney, does not guarantee a similar experience with other attorneys in the firm. Conversely, the negative review, while alarming, represents only one client's perspective.

For local users in Cottonwood Heights seeking legal representation and considering Stacey Schmidt Law Firm, it would be prudent to conduct further research, if possible. This might include seeking additional reviews from other sources or inquiring specifically about the attorneys who would be handling their case. The firm can be contacted at (801) 990-6390 or +1 801-990-6390, and their office is located at 6778 S 1300 E Suite D, Cottonwood Heights, UT 84121, USA.

In conclusion, Stacey Schmidt Law Firm in Cottonwood Heights presents a complex picture based on the limited available reviews. While one client reports exceptional service from Chad Gladstone over many years, another details a severely negative experience marked by alleged incompetence and poor communication. Local users should be aware of these contrasting perspectives and exercise caution and due diligence when considering engaging this firm for their legal needs.

Chad Gladstone has represented me for over a decade on several cases and has been an outstanding and fair attorney. When I came to the states from South Sudan, I spoke little English and Chad was a great aid and friend. I came to the States with no knowledge of the legal system and Chad has been a great man to have on my side. I have referred him to many of my friends who he has also helped immensely. His help has had a huge impact on my life and I'm grateful for Chad and Schmidt & Gladstone.

Lazy, haphazard, missed crucial issues, and completely incompetent. Didn’t return calls or emails. It was obvious she didn’t even read them though her bills show she opened them. She didn’t prepare and during the hearing, she used my notes to represent me to the judge. He criticized her for not representing me adequately. Part of me even believed she, “my advocate,” was secretly working for the other side. No kidding! What a head spinning experience. More to come, I just want to help people not make the same mistake and help save tens of thousands of dollars on the potentially traumatic experience of moving backwards. There is another negative review that I could have written, our experiences were almost identical. I’ll include more later. Thinking of her creates stress and trauma.

This lawyer is expensive and does not deliver. I have been through two court situations where she did not present items needed by the court to defend me. Her work has damaged my relationship with my daughter for years, and I still do not see my daughter. This lawyer is a true danger to your family. Do not take any recommendations for a Special Master - her recommendation never returned my calls for a year and has caused the loss of my little girl. It has been a long time, but I still need to report this lawyer to the Utah Bar. Also watch her billing, she charged me for work that was never executed - match your phone bills against her charges to start with -

Stacey took care of some family law matters. Her work was generally careless and inattentive. Here are some specific examples. I called about an email I'd forwarded that needed some immediate action. She said she'd read it but was clearly doing something else during our conversation and was not making sense as I tried to find out what needed to be done. After about 15 minutes, she suddenly woke up and said "I just read it. We need to do something." This was frighteningly typical - billing but not paying attention. There was a new paralegal every few months. Documents were submitted in my name and in first person, but without any input from me and with embarrassingly incorrect facts and obvious, ridiculous, and sometimes seriously detrimental mistakes. One document had me swearing my name was some totally different person. "Oh, we fixed that," Stacey said, but she hadn't. These documents are in the court record. They asked me to fax a signature page before I had even seen one document because they "were in a hurry." They were usually in hurry, and I got repeated calls from Stacey's latest paralegal trying frantically to throw together a statement left until the last minute. This was reflected in the sloppiness of the documents. I don't normally write reviews like this and I don't like to be critical, but Stacey's poor performance created a lot of problems and additional stress. Once I had had some experience with another lawyer, I realized how sloppy and ineffectual Stacey had been, and I'd like to prevent anyone else from having an experience like I had.

My original divorce attorney was a friend/former colleague, inexperienced and expensive. Lesson learned. When it came time to revise the decree once my equity in the "marital home" was bought out, I went to a lesser expensive, lesser experienced attorney. Another lesson learned. My former brother-in-law wanted me to call his attorney. I did but she had a conflict of interest having previously represented my ex's brother so she referred me to Chad Gladstone. Wow! Honestly! I can't begin to express how fortunate I feel to have found such an intelligent, dedicated, compassionate and tenacious attorney to represent me! Chad jumped in and put that matter to rest in a New York minute. I remember being incredulous at how little it cost me. Even 2010 dollars adjusted for inflation would be a great deal today (6/2016)! I've since gone on to three other motions my ex has instigated to revise our decree. I'm currently in the throes of her latest garbage. It's all so pathetic on so many levels! Chad looks like a giant compared to my ex's counsel. He clearly has the respect and admiration of mediators and commissioners. I don't know what judges think of him but we're headed to trial at some point so and I assume it'll be a similar reception there. If you, a friend, family member or acquaintance needs legal representation, I wholeheartedly recommend you sit down with Chad Gladstone and ask what he can do for you. You'll be glad you did. I certainly am! Final lesson learned!
