South Jersey Legal Services Introduce

Welcome to the platform for Nearby Lawyers. If you are seeking legal assistance in Woodbury, New Jersey, South Jersey Legal Services is an organization located at 47 Newton Ave, Woodbury, NJ 08096, USA. They can be contacted at (856) 848-5360 or their mobile number +1 856-848-5360.

The office of South Jersey Legal Services is situated on Newton Avenue in Woodbury. The surrounding area consists of a mix of residential and commercial buildings, characteristic of a local community setting. As a legal aid organization, the interior environment of their office likely includes spaces for client intake and interviews, private consultation rooms to discuss sensitive legal matters, and administrative areas for staff and case management. Organizations like South Jersey Legal Services often strive to create a welcoming and accessible environment for individuals who may be facing challenging circumstances and are in need of legal support.

South Jersey Legal Services is typically a non-profit organization dedicated to providing free or low-cost legal assistance to individuals who meet certain eligibility criteria, often based on income and the nature of their legal issue. While specific details about all the services they offer in Woodbury are not exhaustively available online, legal aid organizations generally focus on areas where vulnerable populations often require assistance. Based on the limited information available, including a client review mentioning a "DV Case" (Domestic Violence Case), it is plausible that their services may include:

  • Family Law: This can encompass issues such as divorce, child custody, child support, and domestic violence matters. The mention of a DV case suggests they may provide legal representation or assistance to victims of domestic violence.
  • Housing Law: Legal aid organizations often help with landlord-tenant disputes, eviction prevention, and ensuring safe and habitable housing.
  • Public Benefits: Assisting individuals in accessing essential government benefits such as Social Security, Medicaid, and food stamps is often a key service.
  • Consumer Law: This could involve issues like debt collection, unfair business practices, and protecting consumer rights.
  • Other Civil Legal Matters: Depending on their capacity and funding, they may also handle other civil legal problems affecting low-income individuals.

It is important to note that the availability of specific services can vary based on the organization's resources and priorities at any given time. Individuals seeking assistance should contact South Jersey Legal Services directly to inquire about their current areas of focus and eligibility requirements.

Features of South Jersey Legal Services, as a legal aid provider, typically include:

  • Free or Low-Cost Legal Assistance: Their primary mission is to provide access to justice for individuals who cannot afford to hire a private attorney.
  • Representation in Critical Civil Matters: They often focus on cases that impact basic human needs and safety.
  • Advocacy for Vulnerable Populations: Their services are geared towards helping those who are most in need of legal support.
  • Community-Based Approach: Being located within the community allows them to understand and address the specific legal challenges faced by local residents.

However, it is crucial to consider the feedback from the client reviews to gain a balanced perspective. One review expresses dissatisfaction with an assigned attorney, describing a lack of active listening and attributing it to the attorney not being paid directly by the client. While acknowledging satisfaction with the overall outcome of the case, this feedback highlights potential variations in the quality of individual representation within the organization, possibly due to factors related to funding and resource constraints that often affect legal aid services. The other review expresses frustration with a lack of responsiveness, specifically regarding a domestic violence case, raising concerns about timely access to legal counsel.

These reviews underscore the challenges that legal aid organizations often face, including high demand for their services and limited resources, which can sometimes impact the client experience. While the mission of providing crucial legal assistance to those in need remains paramount, potential clients should be aware that their experience may vary.

Promotional information for South Jersey Legal Services is not typically presented in the same way as for private law firms. Their "promotion" is often through community outreach, partnerships with other social service agencies, and word-of-mouth referrals from satisfied clients (as well as acknowledging potential areas for improvement based on feedback). Their primary goal is to inform eligible individuals about the availability of their services. For local users in Woodbury, NJ, who meet the financial and case-type criteria, South Jersey Legal Services at 47 Newton Avenue offers a vital resource for accessing legal assistance they might otherwise not be able to afford. If you believe you may qualify for their services, contacting them at (856) 848-5360 is the recommended next step to understand their eligibility requirements and the types of legal matters they are currently handling.

My mothers assigned attorney was a complete piece of work! One of those listen to respond types and not to understand and better assess. But I mean he wasn't being paid so I guess money motivates alot of people...however, satisfied with the efforts contributing to her case and outcome.

Extremely incompetent. Day before court after having left voicemail after voicemail regarding counsel for my DV Case, I still cannot get a call back to see if I am able qualified to get legal representation.

Not satisfied after 2 months I was told my case wasn’t going to be represented, then I went with a different lawyer now all of a sudden I get a call back saying oh we decided to represent ur case, im like what changed. Oh I updated ur file smh yeah by then I would be going thru hell so I waited to months for nothing. Voiced everything that was going on and they still did nothing I had to do all the leg work so I had to get closure from else where so I recommend Nj Law Project over this Woodbury office. They make sure they respond in a timely manner and keep in contact with you so you don’t feel like everything on you.

They wouldn't help us or answer any questions, even though the court sent us there. When I called the number they gave me, I got a message saying no one could help me because they're at a conference.

My fist experience was excellent it was a custody case. The attorney was very informative and helpful. She resolved my situation without us even going to court. The parent and i was in agreement so it went through very quickly 1 1/2 week. My second situation was with another attorney for a housing situation. That attorney and situation was not as pleasant and or helpful. He agreed to represent me but used my information for his own selfish gain. I saw from beginning and thought i was being mislead. I confronted the person (attorney) and by the 3rd conversation i terminated or agreement for attorney client confadentuality breach. This was only one situation and i dont believe all the attorneys are bad. This is my opinion and believe to be an isolated incident. All my questions was addressed by the supervisor i complained to. I was call immediately and was offered another attorney to handle my case but i chose not to because i handled it on my own. Overall u will use them again if i have a problem i will just be cautious. One bad apple doesn't have to spoil the whole bunch. I hope my honesty was help and good luck with ur situation. I pray as goes well for u.
