• My cousin passed away in December and I was named as the Trustee of her Estate. I had no experience as a Trustee and no misconceptions about how little I understood the process and complexities of Estate Law. Fortunately, my cousin worked with Cary Moss of Sawyer & Sawyer to set up her will and because of that existing relationship, I chose her to be the Estate Attorney. It was the smartest choice I could have made! Attorney Moss and her staff are wonderful! All of them are smart, well versed in the necessities and intricacies of liquidating an estate and they explain things so that a layman can easily understand what must be done and why. As important as it is to find a qualified lawyer to advise you through this (sometimes) daunting process, there is something that you will need from your attorney that goes beyond skill and training: empathy. While I'm sure that there are other attorneys (and staffs) that have knowledge and expertise, in my experience, none have shown the concern and understanding that Cary and her staff showed to me. They knew I was inexperienced and showed remarkable patience in answering my questions and explaining why and when information was needed. It made my life so much easier! It wasn't just Attorney Moss that exhibited that level of professionalism and care. Her entire staff: Danielle, Keiaree, Amy, Nickie and Stephanie all treated me with kindness and respect. I can't imagine how difficult and unpleasant this process would have been without all of them helping me! In closing, I will suggest three things with regard to Estate Settlements: 1) Listen to your attorney and do everything he or she tells you to do. They know more about the subject than you ever will and they are trying to help you. 2) In keeping with 1) above, be sure to answer calls from all members of the legal team. Each of the people above had specific jobs for which they were well trained. Call them back, give them what they need and your experience will be infinitely more pleasant and the results, successful. 3) Don't assume. You will receive a lot of correspondence and bills associated with your loved one's estate. Don't respond to anything without guidance from your attorney. You never know when something you think is innocuous is actually critical. It is with great pleasure that I give Attorney Moss and her staff at Sawyer & Sawyer my sincere and unconditional endorsement. They worked very hard to earn it.
• I recently set up a Trust to protect my children and provide ease of transition once I have passed. From the first introductions, through the initial meetings and the final review, the team at Sawyer and Sawyer have been nothing but courteous, kind and professional!! • When my husband and I walked into the office of Sawyer and Sawyer we were uncertain as to what to expect.The appointment was our first and upon walking into the office we were warmly greeted and welcomed.
