Public Law Center Introduce
Within the "Nearby Lawyers" platform category, the Public Law Center (PLC) stands out as a unique entity dedicated to providing pro bono (free) legal services to low-income individuals and families in the Santa Ana, California, area. Located at 601 W Civic Center Dr, Santa Ana, CA 92701, USA, PLC plays a crucial role in ensuring access to justice for vulnerable populations who might otherwise be unable to afford legal representation. Understanding the mission, services, and eligibility criteria of the Public Law Center is essential for local users to determine if they can benefit from their valuable community resources.
The environment of the Public Law Center, situated within the Civic Center area, is likely to be a professional yet community-focused setting. As a non-profit organization, PLC's environment would prioritize client comfort and accessibility while maintaining the necessary professionalism for legal consultations and services. The mention of the office being "very clean" in a customer review suggests an environment that is welcoming and well-maintained, contributing to a positive client experience. Given its mission, the center likely strives to create a supportive and confidential space where clients feel comfortable discussing sensitive legal issues.
The services provided by the Public Law Center are centered around offering free legal assistance in various areas of civil law to eligible low-income residents. These areas often include housing law (e.g., eviction defense, landlord-tenant disputes), family law (e.g., domestic violence restraining orders, child custody matters), immigration law (e.g., asylum applications, deportation defense), consumer law (e.g., debt collection issues, predatory lending), and public benefits (e.g., assistance with accessing social security, unemployment benefits). The specific services offered may vary based on the center's funding, volunteer attorney availability, and the most pressing legal needs within the community.
A key feature of the Public Law Center is its reliance on pro bono contributions from volunteer attorneys, paralegals, and law students. This collaborative model allows PLC to leverage the expertise of the legal community to serve those who cannot afford legal fees. The center typically conducts thorough client intake and screening processes to determine eligibility based on income and the nature of the legal issue. While this ensures that resources are directed to those most in need, as indicated in a customer review, exceeding certain household income thresholds may result in ineligibility for their services.
Customer reviews offer mixed perspectives on the Public Law Center. One client describes "great customer service" and "great service all around," highlighting the politeness and accuracy of the staff. This reviewer also emphasizes the confidential nature of their interactions and expresses trust in the center, recommending their services to others. The advice to "follow up, be honest, be upfront" suggests that active client participation is important in the process. This positive review underscores the valuable support and assistance that PLC can provide to those who qualify for their services.
However, another review presents a contrasting experience, stating that the "front desk person is zero help" and that assistance is denied if household income exceeds a certain limit, leading to disappointment. This feedback highlights a potential area for improvement in initial client interactions and reinforces the importance of understanding the eligibility criteria for receiving services from the Public Law Center. As a non-profit organization with limited resources, income-based restrictions are often necessary to ensure that services are targeted towards those with the greatest financial need.
In terms of features, the Public Law Center offers: free legal services to eligible low-income individuals, assistance in various areas of civil law, a reliance on pro bono volunteers from the legal community, a commitment to confidentiality, and a mission-driven focus on increasing access to justice. While the quality of service delivery appears to be generally positive based on one review, potential clients should be aware of the income-based eligibility requirements and the importance of clear communication with the center's staff.
As a non-profit organization, the Public Law Center's "promotional information" is typically focused on raising awareness about their services and the importance of pro bono legal work. They often collaborate with community organizations and legal aid societies to reach eligible individuals. Their presence within the "Nearby Lawyers" category serves as a way for local users to become aware of this valuable resource. Individuals who believe they meet the low-income criteria and have a qualifying civil legal issue are encouraged to contact PLC to inquire about their services and the intake process.

This is where the person that talked to me on the phone you should take some sensitivity training even after I told you my disability you still were rude to me and you should call people maybe not a half hour before you're going to go home for you want to be such a nice person you know when you're going to be homeless which you probably never have a lady you didn't know what it's like so you don't care that's why I hung up on you
Not happy, a social worker lied to a judge, she kidnapped my daughter to get revenge on me. The judge was making fun of me and calling me horrible names. She getting even with me as well after 18 plus years ago. Horrible people.
