My wife called to see what it would cost to update our trust. Mr. Prater did the first version several years earlier and we needed some minor changes made as ourcircumstances had changed. We didn't live in the area any longer, so she called some local attorneys to see what it would cost to start over as a comparison. Mr. Prater said based on his hourly rate, it would be $300 - $400.00 to revise the original documents. We had another quote of $600.00 or so to start over, so we went with Mr. Prater, assuming it would be the lower cost which made sense since he still had all the original documents on file digitally. You would assume, it would be a fairly easy task to make the changes to the existing files. We went back and forth with the process. The final documents were an obvious cut and paste job as in several places, he had my wife's name as someone else. There were some errors and other issues which we had a hard time resolving. Then once it was finally done and we went to our local bank to notarize it, there were still places with my wife's name as someone else. We got it notarized and sent back to him, and then we got the bill. The final bill was over $1000.00. There were things we were billed for that we didn't even ask him to do. There were also some double billed items on the bill. We sent him an e-mail on two separate occasions trying to get him to explain why certain charges were on the bill. He would never even give us the courtesy of a response. We explained in the final e-mail that we would not pay the bill until he addressed the mystery charges. Still no response. Today almost four months later, we received a statement for the full charge with a big red PAST DUE stamped on it—still not a single reply to any of our correspondence. Who wants to fight with an attorney? I have decided it is not worth the time and hassle to deal with someone who can't or won't respond to our questions. It seems all he wants is the steepest fee he can get, and he has no intention of discussing anything with us. I can't recommend his services. To say he is unprofessional is an understatement. I am still amazed that he can't reply to a client he did work for on two separate occasions with questions about their bill. If it were me, I'd look elsewhere.

Bill Did our trust originally and did such a good job that my mother had him redo hers. When she passed away everything went like clockwork. Perfect!! since then he has done my brothers and will be doing my children's trusts. He's easy to work with and a reasonable price.
