I'm a retired Navy SEAL and former Deputy Sheriff, I had a very negative experience with Phillips & Gemignani, LLC. I used them for mediation, but it felt completely one sided in favor of my ex-wife. The process lacked fairness and balance, and I didn’t feel heard or supported. Mediation is supposed to be neutral, but that wasn’t my experience at all. I wouldn’t recommend them to anyone looking for a fair and impartial mediator.

Cheryl Gemignani's mediation tactics were a complete failure for my case. Her element of surprise was more of a temporary stun. We thought we had an agreement only to have it backfire the next day when my wife had time to think more about it. We could have had much greater success knowing and preparing for the other's position prior to mediation. Thousands of dollars were wasted. We now sit 3 months later with no progress.

my post judgement divorce proceedings. It was a relocation case. She met with my son for one hour and spoke with me for about two hours, only once in person. She neglected to follow up with any of my family or my son's teacher, but thought it was appropriate to meet my son at my ex husband's parents' home where she was introduced as a "family friend". She admitted to giving my ex legal advice about our case. She also had personal ties to his girlfriend's family which she neglected to disclose. Cheryl essentially watched from the sidelines while a long and costly trial went on and made a weak multiple choice recommendation. Her "report" was flimsy and full of errors and was not submitted to me or my attorney until less than 5 minutes before the verdict was made. Further proof of her bias and unprofessionalism, she referred to me as "June Cleaver" during her cross examination. I am still not sure what was meant by that other than to show complete disrespect and disdain for stay home moms. By the way, I only took off 6 months after having my child. I have a Master's Degree and have always worked part time. If you are even thinking of hiring this person, please take the time to contact me. I will gladly share my 6 page complaint to the WI Bar Association.

I had an appointment with Corey Monitho, and when I showed up (on-time) I was told he got delayed at court. When I asked if he would be calling me to reschedule, I was told no, that I would have to call him to reschedule. So I never called back. I'm glad I didn't spend any $$ here, but I wish they had been more professional.

Corey did amazing. He answered all of our questions and then some. He gave 100% and had to do a lot work for our case and we are very happy with the outcome. Thank you Corey from the bottom of our hearts.

The firm's office is situated in Waukesha, a prominent city in Waukesha County, Wisconsin. The address, 358 W Main St, suggests a central and accessible location within the city, likely contributing to its visibility and convenience for local residents seeking legal assistance. The firm's long-standing presence at this address indicates stability and a rooted connection to the Waukesha community. As a "Nearby Lawyer" in Waukesha, the firm serves the local populace, offering legal services that cater to the specific needs of individuals and families in the area.
Phillips & Gemignani focuses its practice primarily on family law. This encompasses a broad range of services, including divorce, child custody, child support, and mediation. Cheryl A. Gemignani, a prominent attorney at the firm, is particularly recognized for her work in family law. She has been selected to Super Lawyers for multiple years, including 2006-2024, highlighting her peer recognition and professional achievement in the field. Charles I. Phillips is also listed as an attorney at the firm, with practice areas that include Divorce, Estate Planning, and Family Law, further solidifying the firm's specialization in these crucial personal legal matters. Their collective experience in family law positions them as a resource for those navigating complex personal transitions, such as marital dissolution or disputes concerning children.
A key feature of Phillips & Gemignani, and specifically the services provided by Cheryl A. Gemignani, is mediation. Mediation is an alternative dispute resolution process where a neutral third party helps disputing parties reach a mutually acceptable agreement. This service is often utilized in family law matters, such as divorce or custody disputes, to facilitate amicable resolutions outside of traditional litigation. However, it is important to present all available information, including client feedback, to provide a balanced perspective. Two distinct client reviews directly address their mediation services. One client, a retired Navy SEAL and former Deputy Sheriff, expressed a "very negative experience," describing the mediation as "completely one sided" and lacking "fairness and balance." This client felt unheard and unsupported, concluding that they "wouldn’t recommend them to anyone looking for a fair and impartial mediator." Another client similarly found Cheryl Gemignani's "mediation tactics a complete failure," noting that an initial agreement "backfire the next day," resulting in "thousands of dollars wasted" and "no progress" after three months. These reviews, while representing individual experiences, indicate that some clients have found the mediation process at Phillips & Gemignani to be less effective or impartial than anticipated. It is crucial for potential clients to consider such feedback and engage in thorough due diligence when evaluating legal service providers, particularly for sensitive processes like mediation where neutrality and effective facilitation are paramount.
From a promotional standpoint, Phillips & Gemignani highlights its long-standing history, having been in practice since 1986. This longevity suggests a firm with deep roots in the legal community and a sustained commitment to serving clients over several decades. The firm's website mentions "ATTORNEYS AT LAW" and states, "Since 1986, we have been helping people through difficult legal circumstances," emphasizing their experience and dedication to assisting individuals in challenging times. Contact information, including phone numbers (262) 544-9998 and +1 262-544-9998, is readily available, allowing potential clients to reach out for inquiries. While specific details about free consultations or "no win, no fee" arrangements are not prominently advertised on easily accessible public information, it is common for firms specializing in family law to offer initial consultations to discuss case specifics. The recognition of Cheryl A. Gemignani by Super Lawyers for multiple years serves as a significant promotional aspect, as Super Lawyers recognizes top attorneys who have attained a high degree of peer recognition and professional achievement. This accolade can be a strong indicator of an attorney's reputation and expertise within the legal field. However, as noted, client reviews provide a contrasting perspective on specific aspects of the firm's service, particularly concerning mediation.
In summary, Phillips & Gemignani, situated in Waukesha, WI, is a law firm with a history dating back to 1986, primarily focusing on family law matters, including divorce, child custody, and mediation. The firm's attorneys, including Cheryl A. Gemignani and Charles I. Phillips, bring experience to these areas. While the firm's longevity and attorney accolades like Super Lawyers recognition can be seen as positive indicators, prospective clients seeking mediation services should carefully consider the client feedback available online, which raises concerns about the perceived fairness and effectiveness of their mediation processes. As with any legal decision, thorough research and direct communication with the firm are recommended to determine if Phillips & Gemignani is the right fit for individual legal needs within the "Nearby Lawyers" category.
