However, it is crucial to consider all available information when evaluating a legal service provider. The provided customer reviews offer a mixed perspective on the firm. One review expresses significant dissatisfaction with the services of attorney Todd Barfuss, alleging misconduct, misrepresentation, and financial mismanagement. This reviewer strongly advises others to avoid hiring Mr. Barfuss and mentions reporting him to the state bar and the Better Business Bureau. Such serious allegations should be carefully considered by potential clients.

On the other hand, another reviewer shares a positive experience with Todd Barfuss during a mediation process. This client found him responsive, respectful, and supportive, particularly in advocating for their interests during a challenging negotiation. This contrasting feedback highlights the subjective nature of individual experiences and the importance of considering multiple perspectives.

Given the conflicting reviews, prospective clients are strongly encouraged to conduct their own due diligence. This may include:

  • Contacting Osborne & Barnhill PC directly: Schedule a consultation to discuss your specific legal needs and assess their suitability.
  • Asking about the attorneys who will handle your case: Inquire about their experience, qualifications, and track record in the relevant area of law.
  • Requesting information about billing practices: Understand their fee structure, how you will be billed, and the frequency of billing statements.
  • Checking the Utah State Bar website: Verify the licensing status and any disciplinary history of the attorneys at the firm.
  • Seeking additional reviews or references: Look for feedback on other platforms or ask the firm for references from past clients (keeping in mind privacy considerations).

Promotional information for Osborne & Barnhill PC, based on their presence in the 'Nearby Lawyers' category, would emphasize their local presence and commitment to serving the Draper community. They might highlight their understanding of local legal nuances and their dedication to providing personalized legal solutions. Firms often promote their accessibility, responsiveness, and client-focused approach. However, in light of the significant negative feedback regarding one of their attorneys, any promotional consideration should be balanced with a thorough personal investigation.

In conclusion, Osborne & Barnhill PC is a law firm located in Draper, UT, offering a range of legal services to local residents and businesses. While one client review praises the responsiveness and advocacy of attorney Todd Barfuss, another provides serious allegations of misconduct and financial mismanagement against the same attorney. Potential clients should carefully consider all available information, conduct thorough due diligence, and directly communicate with the firm to determine if their services align with their specific legal needs and expectations. It is essential to make an informed decision based on a comprehensive understanding of the firm's capabilities and reputation.

Edit: I had left this review last year. It somehow was taken down. I wanted to make sure it went back up so, if you ended up considering to hire, Todd Barfuss, you don’t. I did report him to the state and there is an investigation happening. I am leaving this review to warn others not to hire Todd Barfuss. I am researching how to report him to the state bar for his misconduct. I have also reported him and his law firm to the Better Business Bureau. If you have had a bad encounter with Todd Barfuss due to him misrepresenting himself, I strongly suggest you do the same. Todd Barfuss promised me to keep my costs low, and he milked every penny from me that he could. He assured me in our first meeting that he would keep my costs down and use paralegals to do that. Todd Barfuss prided himself on saving his clients as much money as he possibly could... I now realize he would have said anything to me to get me to hire him and to get his hands on my money. Todd Barfuss is charming and manipulative and will tell you anything to make you feel like he is capable of helping you. Todd Barfuss is not transparent; he will not send you monthly billing statements, and if you ask for one, it will take lots of time to get one. You will be shocked that he has spent as much of your money as possible. The billing invoice will be lumped together with many things he claims he has done. Be careful; he will call you a lot to ensure you do not have a paper trail and continue to assure you that he is keeping costs low and helping you. He is incompetent, and I'm appalled that he still has a license to practice the law. I am still fighting Todd to get the money he owes me; if I had received monthly billing statements from him, I would have been able to fire Todd immediately for misspending my money. I advise you to avoid hiring this man and find another attorney to help you. I can not speak of the other attorneys working at this firm and their capabilities; all I can speak on my experience with Todd Barfuss.

I hired Todd Barfuss to represent me in my second mediation with my ex husband. He was responsive to my questions and concerns. He was respectful of my hesitancy to be in the same room with my ex and came up with a solution that worked for me. During mediation, there was a point that my ex was fighting for and I was just going to give in. Todd told me that he thought it was something that mattered and he was not going to allow me to just give in. I am so glad he did that, because later it would have mattered to me.

Based on my experience, I think Todd Barfuss is a dishonest, incompetent attorney. He kept me hanging on, and of course paying him, for almost a year with apologies and promises of what he could do and would do and how he would do a better job. The last time he called me to apologize, he said he had other clients he also needed to call and apologize to, I wasn't the only one he owed an apology to. This alone should scare you off. As far as the law firm of Osborne and Barnhill, I don't know if it's true about guilty by association, but I know if Barfuss was my business partner, I would be humiliated to have his name associated with mine, and he'd be fired in a flash. As far as the standard response businesses put on bad reviews.....Todd always seemed to have my phone number to call me to resolve paying him more money. I hired him for my daughter and he never claimed himself as her attorney until I fired him.

We are seniors who hired Todd Barfuss to help our daughter. For almost a year he virutally did nothing but take our saving account. He also cost our daughter thousands of dollards because he didn't proceed with the case in a timely manner.

I hired Mr. Barfuss in 2011 to help me with a very intense child custody battle, big let down, Instead of rescheduling further out or asking for a continuance, he tried to notify me of a date change just a few days before the already scheduled court date instead of rescheduling past the arranged date, they changed it to the day before, and it was my parent time with my child, I had no way to get to the courthouse and had misheard him on the phone when he had called and apparently said there was a court date change. That being said, Even though I was caring for my child who I had been in a custody battle over when court had began, I lost custody of my child and had my attorney asked to proceed past the scheduled date rather than before the scheduled date, things probably would have gone quite a bit differently.
