Reviews

  • It's not a well-run firm: - They took my information, then proceeded to mix up my phone number twice. Apparently leaving messages at some other number for my case. - When I hired them, I could not get them to call me or email me to confirm they would appear on my behalf in court. The DAY OF, the senior attorney called me just minutes before court. - 2nd court date, junior attorney wasn't prepared with the required documentation, so we were denied a reasonable request. - Their agreement says that clients agree to them splitting up tasks, to be more cost-efficient. However, in reality, it means clients get charged many times for a task that could have been done by a single competent attorney in one session. For example, when I asked them to withdraw, because I was not seeing the value, they managed to rack up over $2,000 in further expenses just to withdraw: Junior attorney read email, sent to paralegal. Paralegal reviewed it. Junior attorney made revisions. Senior attorney reviewed it again. Revised again, Submitted. 1.5 hour court time talking about it. I felt like *I* was paying for THEM to train their junior attorney. - When I saw the final bill and disputed it in an itemized way as required, I got no response except to keep requesting payment over and over again. - In short, they racked up $7k worth of expenses in 2 months with mostly junior level administrative tasks. - Speaking of billing, this is a pain point too. One person asks for more money. I paid. Several days later, another person "reminded" me that I need to pay. I said I already paid. "Oh, we're sorry." Then they did it several more times. My advice is to find a single attorney or a firm with a flat rate by case type. I explored a flat rate attorney that was well-reviewed and they quoted $6k. I'm now in over $10k with this firm and didn't even get good representation. I'm now pro se (representing myself) and doing just as well.

The office environment at 7520 39th Ave, Kenosha, WI 53142, USA, would typically be a professional setting, as is standard for legal practices. While specific details about the interior design or client-facing areas are not publicly available, one would expect a law firm to provide a confidential space for discussions, likely including a reception area and private consultation rooms. The address suggests a commercial office location, aimed at providing a dedicated and structured environment for legal proceedings and client meetings. The intention behind such a setup is usually to convey professionalism and to facilitate the necessary administrative and legal work associated with representing clients.

O'Flaherty Law of Kenosha, as a general law firm, would typically offer a range of legal services to address common needs within the local community. While specific practice areas are not detailed in the provided information, law firms of this nature often handle a variety of legal matters, which could potentially include:

  • General Civil Litigation: Representing clients in various disputes that proceed through the court system.
  • Family Law: Potentially assisting with matters such as divorce, child custody, or support.
  • Estate Planning: Guidance on wills, trusts, and probate.
  • Real Estate Law: Handling transactions or disputes related to property.
  • Business Law: Advising small businesses on contracts, formation, or disputes.
  • Minor Criminal Defense: Representing individuals facing less severe criminal charges.

The firm's participation in a "Nearby Lawyers" platform indicates their availability to provide general legal assistance to the local populace. However, without more specific information regarding their stated specializations, the exact scope of services beyond general legal practice remains to be definitively ascertained by potential clients.

The features of O'Flaherty Law of Kenosha, as perceived and articulated by a detailed customer review, offer a critical perspective on their operational aspects. One client highlighted several areas of concern regarding the firm's service delivery:

  • Communication Issues: The firm reportedly mixed up phone numbers twice, leading to messages being left at incorrect numbers. There was also a perceived lack of proactive communication, as the client could not get confirmation of court appearance until minutes before the scheduled time on the day of the court date.
  • Preparedness and Efficiency: A junior attorney was reportedly unprepared with required documentation for a court date, leading to a reasonable request being denied.
  • Billing Practices and Cost Efficiency: The client felt that while the agreement mentioned task splitting for cost efficiency, in practice, it led to multiple charges for tasks that could have been handled by a single attorney in one session. A significant concern was voiced about being charged over $2,000 for the process of withdrawing from the case, with itemized tasks (e.g., email reading, paralegal review, revisions by junior and senior attorneys) suggesting an inefficient billing structure. The client specifically stated feeling as though they were "paying for THEM to train their junior attorney."
  • Billing Discrepancies and Responsiveness to Disputes: The client reported receiving no response to a disputed final bill, despite itemizing the dispute as requested, but instead received repeated requests for payment. Furthermore, there were multiple instances of being asked for payment after it had already been made, indicating internal billing communication issues.
  • Overall Value and Representation: The client expressed significant dissatisfaction with the value received, stating that they incurred over $10,000 in expenses in two months for "mostly junior level administrative tasks" and "didn't even get good representation," ultimately deciding to represent themselves (pro se) and performing "just as well."

These points suggest a firm that, from this particular client's experience, struggled with internal organization, efficient task management, transparent billing, and client communication, leading to a perception of high costs for low value. While the firm may aim for efficiency through task splitting, the client's experience suggests it resulted in compounded costs rather than savings. The direct phone lines (262) 999-0758 and +1 262-999-0758, while offering direct access, did not, in this instance, translate into effective or reassuring communication for the client.

For promotional information, O'Flaherty Law of Kenosha's presence on a "Nearby Lawyers" platform serves as a basic form of advertising, indicating their availability for local legal needs. The provision of their phone numbers, (262) 999-0758 and +1 262-999-0758, and their physical address at 7520 39th Ave, Kenosha, WI 53142, USA, are the primary methods for potential clients to reach out. However, the promotional benefits derived from these basic listings are significantly impacted by the negative customer review provided. While law firms typically promote their expertise, client satisfaction, and cost-effectiveness, the detailed review directly challenges these aspects. The client's advice to "find a single attorney or a firm with a flat rate by case type" and their comparison of the firm's hourly billing to a well-reviewed flat-rate attorney who quoted significantly less ($6k vs. over $10k incurred) serves as a cautionary promotional message. The firm's ability to attract new clients will heavily depend on its overall reputation, which, in this instance, is publicly challenged by the articulated experience of a former client. Therefore, beyond the basic contact information, any promotional efforts would need to address the perceptions of value, efficiency, and client communication raised in such feedback.

In conclusion, O'Flaherty Law of Kenosha operates within the "Nearby Lawyers" category, offering legal services from its address at 7520 39th Ave, Kenosha, WI 53142, USA, and accessible via phone at (262) 999-0758. While the firm aims to provide legal representation, a detailed customer review highlights significant issues related to communication, efficiency, billing practices, and perceived value for money, with the client ultimately withdrawing from representation due to dissatisfaction. Potential clients considering O'Flaherty Law of Kenosha are advised to carefully consider these reported experiences regarding service delivery and cost management, and to conduct thorough due diligence before engaging their services.
