  • full disclosure- she represented my ex-wife in our current divorce. She is, how can I say "magical With that said, my first encounter with her style of practicing law was deeply troubling. Not only by her dim view of ethics but how smarmy she is. She utilized a knowingly forged document to appear as if I had been served. 2 days before the divorce proceedings begin, her office calls me to attend a mediation. I'm understandably confused, sec explains, then she confirmed with surprise in her voice that I had not been served at all. Magically the start date of the divorce was pushed back, because of an emergency hearing Mindi Jo had to attend. Funny stuff, right? Fast forwarding to the initial appearance, I explained to the Magistrate how my wife deceived me saying we would have an uncontested divorce so I wouldn't hire representation. Then she switched her tune and purposefully left me defenseless. The Magistrate agreed and scheduled another appearance. To which MJ spouted out with agitation. "There are no kids in this divorce, with minimal assets. we can be done in less than a month", to which the Magistrate admonished her, citing unfair representation. Her magic was absent with this. (On a side note, the $28,000 down payment on my house purchased before the marriage, isn't minimal to me.) Concluding the appearance, the magistrate asked that she draw up an agreement for the responsibilities of the marital residence during the divorce. Days later, I receive then reviewed it and sent an email back suggesting additions concerning the care of my 2 cats and a correction about my vehicle. I co-oped her legalese and sent back some basic lines. She responded that was impossible without the Magistrate signing off on any changes to the order. I said I understood, but had to politely refuse to sign the document due to being inaccurate and incomplete. At the next appearance, Jojo tells the Magistrate I am being uncooperative by refusing to sign without any further explanation. Now I'm starting to grow weary of her "style". Might I add that my suggested additions concerning the cats, were magically included in a future document used against me. I can provide more examples of her questionable ethos, such as frivolously sending a grossly unacceptable settlement offer entirely unbalanced towards me, including sneaky proposals such as me paying ex wife's fees which was never discussed nor even breathed. At the mediation for the settlement, she raised her voice (quite awkwardly at that) towards me, resulting in the termination of that negotiation. On and on. Despite being grimy, she is shrewdly tenacious. I can not deny her that. Tidbits: Her law firm is a failure by virtue of its current status - permanently closed. She's just an associate at Rubinos presently. As required, she sent my wife's FDF. However my wifes bank account information, SS#, identifying info, etc. wasn't redacted. The info any hacker covets was carelessly (disrespectfully) handled. Granted this is prolly office staff's fault, but borderline illegal and wreckless nonetheless. The potential financial fallout from this is yet to be determined, but not my problem anymore. Just a heads up for ya. **Also avoid my lawyer, Andrew M Yoder.** Head on over for my honest review of him. His level of competency makes MJ look outstanding.

  • Not even worth a 1 star rating! WORST lawyer ever! Expect to get ripped off! She has many hidden fees that she wont tell you about until after you think you have paid her off and then you’ll get a letter saying she tacked on interest BY THE DAY!! So you will forever be in debt with her. And her response will be “Well you took too long to pay me so I had to charge you more”

  • If your a father, don't waste your money. we might as well if paid her to defend the enemy. (The mother) Conflict of interest. She is a waste of 250$ an hour, save it for someone who will actually do their job and defend you as their client.

  • Shouldn't even give one star. You're a joke to parents who are better for their children. You get paid 250 an hour for nothing. You need more education. You say you have kids, but yet you dont know if children should be with a mother bc of her moving for a promotion, or a father who has pending sexual assault and multiple cases of abuse against him. It is important for users of Nearby Lawyers to have access to a comprehensive understanding of the legal professionals listed on our platform. To that end, we present information gathered from publicly available sources, including client reviews. One detailed review from an individual claiming to be a former opposing party in a divorce case handled by Ms. Heidel offers a critical perspective on her professional conduct and ethical standards.

This review describes the reviewer's initial impression of Ms. Heidel as "magical" but quickly shifts to express "deeply troubling" concerns regarding her "dim view of ethics" and perceived "smarmy" demeanor. The reviewer alleges specific instances of misconduct, including the purported use of a "knowingly forged document" related to service of process. According to the review, this alleged discrepancy led to a delay in the divorce proceedings.

Furthermore, the review details an interaction with a Magistrate where the reviewer claims Ms. Heidel downplayed the significance of marital assets, including a substantial down payment on a house made before the marriage. The Magistrate reportedly admonished Ms. Heidel for potentially providing unfair representation.

The reviewer also describes a disagreement regarding a proposed agreement for the marital residence, stating that Ms. Heidel initially resisted incorporating the reviewer's suggestions about pet care and vehicle details, only for the pet care additions to allegedly appear later in a document used against the reviewer. The review further alleges that Ms. Heidel accused the reviewer of being uncooperative for refusing to sign an incomplete and inaccurate document.

Additional allegations in the review include the submission of a "grossly unacceptable settlement offer entirely unbalanced" against the reviewer, which purportedly included a demand for the reviewer to pay the ex-wife's legal fees without prior discussion. The review also recounts an incident during mediation where Ms. Heidel allegedly raised her voice, leading to the termination of negotiations.

Despite these serious allegations, the reviewer acknowledges Ms. Heidel's "shrewdly tenacious" nature. However, this positive attribute is juxtaposed with further criticisms. The reviewer mentions the reported permanent closure of Ms. Heidel's independent law firm and her current status as an associate at Rubinos Law. The review also raises a concern regarding the alleged careless handling of the ex-wife's sensitive personal information, including bank account details and social security number, in a document disclosure.
