Judge Maria Puente-Porras cares to get to the bottom of the issues and do what’s best for the child. She scares me a bit but she did dig to make sure she had all the necessary information to make an educated ruling. She’s very patient & fair in my opinion.

Worst judge ever! Very biased and put my daughter and I in danger! I had a valid case and good reason for fearing for my safety after daughters father grabbed me by my throat leaving marks on my neck that I made a police report for. As well as I applied for full custody since he never cares for her and gave him multiples of says with our daughter even though she never stayed in his home and was unfamiliar with him. This judge didn’t give my daughter a chance to adapt to him and threw her into a horrible environment. She deemed me not credible and refused to look at my evidence in court. She doesn’t read the paperwork and doesn’t give you a chance to plead your side whether you need it or not, she will play with your safety and ruin any hope. Father admitted to lies and if it wasn’t for us having to pay for an attorney for my daughter the judge wouldn’t have believed me and it took hiring an attorney to prove he was lying and for me to get her back majority of the time. After he’s been physically abusing her and has assaulted my daughter! It took multiples of cps reports and police reports and we ended up having a hearing in Los Angeles with a MUCH better judge and things finally were looking up. This women ruins families and it’s not in the best interest of the child even if you have proof the other parent is physically harming your child. SHE DOES NOT CARE SHE IS A WITCH.

I don’t know how Ms. Puente-Porras is as an attorney, but as a judge she was fair and unbiased, which I appreciated. She did her homework and studied each case individually before walking into the courtroom. The outcome of my case was always different than what I anticipated, but her rulings made sense and for that I have much respect for her.

She beyond horrible and biased toward pro tem. Especially biased towards woman with DV restraining ordetd. She was very condising remarks and comment. She doesn't read the documents. She lies on record per transcripsts. She makes nasty comment and assumptions per her opinion which is biased. After being punch in the mouth hair snacth out with scars, she thinking my safety is a joke. Even though judge has ordered different. As the devil is to heaven, She is to the family law system. She degraded my comments in connection with the father despite of legal documents, my polite explanation and the father's admission to disobeying court orders. She call me imature and several degrading comments. I hope she gets thrown off the bench soon or it rains really bad and get stuck by lightning. My adive to litigant DON'T SIGN WAIVER FOR HER TO HEAR YOUR CASE REQUESTED AT JUDGE. LAST DON'T USE GWP PAINTING AND HOME IMPROVEMENT SERVICES.

Absolutely horrible and biased pro tem. Made sweeping generalizations about me as a mother after hearing three minutes of facts in a modification for child support hearing. She is absolutely horrid to the family law system. She disparaged my mothering without knowing a thing about me or my 17 years of mothering style, she degraded my comments in connection with the father who has not paid support in 17 years and owes arrears of over 40k, yet she thought she could sum me up after knowing zilch about me. I hate her. I hope she gets thrown off the bench soon.

About Maria Puente-Porras Law Ofcs
When individuals search for legal counsel through a specialized platform like 'Nearby Lawyers,' their expectation is to connect with active legal practitioners offering specific services for hire. However, the listing for "Maria Puente-Porras Law Ofcs" presents a unique and important distinction: public records, including the California Courts website, unequivocally indicate that Maria Puente-Porras is currently a Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge. This means the entity "Maria Puente-Porras Law Ofcs" most accurately refers to her past private legal practice before her distinguished transition to the judiciary. Therefore, this introduction will objectively address both her former professional capacity as an attorney and her current esteemed role as a judge, interpreting how this information is relevant for local users seeking legal assistance in Bellflower, California, within the 'Nearby Lawyers' category.
The listed address for "Maria Puente-Porras Law Ofcs" is 9928 Flower St, Bellflower, CA 90706, USA. This location would have placed the former private law office in a readily accessible part of Bellflower, a characteristic highly valued by individuals seeking local legal services. During its operation as a private firm, the environment would have been designed to foster professionalism, confidentiality, and client comfort, consistent with the standards of legal practices handling sensitive personal and legal matters. The accessibility of this address would have been a significant practical benefit for local residents utilizing the 'Nearby Lawyers' platform, enabling convenient in-person consultations. However, it is absolutely crucial for users to understand that as of October 2015, Maria Puente-Porras was appointed as a Commissioner for the Los Angeles County Superior Court, and subsequently elevated to the position of a Judge in June 2018. Consequently, the office at 9928 Flower St, Bellflower, CA 90706, USA, would no longer be a venue where Maria Puente-Porras directly offers private legal representation or client services. Any appearance of "Maria Puente-Porras Law Ofcs" should be understood as a historical listing of her former private practice, not an indication that she currently accepts new clients for legal representation.
During her extensive seventeen-year tenure in private practice, spanning from 1998 to 2015, Maria Puente-Porras specialized predominantly in Family Law. In this capacity, she represented a diverse range of parties involved in family disputes, including roles as court-appointed minor's counsel, ensuring that the best interests of children were represented. Her work in family law also extended to contested adoption proceedings at the Edelman Children's Court, demonstrating a deep engagement with sensitive and complex family matters. Beyond Family Law, her private practice encompassed Criminal Defense, providing legal representation to individuals facing criminal charges, and Civil Litigation, handling disputes between private parties. This broad spectrum of legal experience as a private attorney suggests that "Maria Puente-Porras Law Ofcs" would have offered comprehensive legal services across these critical domains. For individuals in Bellflower seeking assistance with issues such as divorce, child custody, child support, adoption, navigating criminal charges, or resolving civil disputes, her former practice would have served as a valuable local resource for these specific legal needs. However, it is paramount to reiterate that as a sitting judge, Maria Puente-Porras no longer provides these services to the public as a private attorney. Judges preside over legal proceedings, interpret laws, apply legal precedents, and issue rulings, rather than representing individual clients. Therefore, users actively seeking legal representation in any of these areas must seek out other qualified and actively practicing legal professionals listed on the 'Nearby Lawyers' platform.
The distinguishing features of Maria Puente-Porras's professional career, both as an attorney and now as a judge, can be gleaned from her robust professional background and the provided public reviews of her judicial conduct. As an attorney, her long and dedicated service in private practice (17 years) speaks volumes about her extensive experience and deep understanding of the legal fields she covered, particularly Family Law, where her roles as minor's counsel and a Daily Settlement Officer for the Los Angeles Superior Court underscore her dedication to resolving complex family issues. Her known pro bono work with highly reputable organizations like the Alliance for Children's Rights and the Public Law Center further highlights a strong commitment to public service, access to justice, and community engagement. As a judge, the provided reviews offer contrasting, yet insightful, perspectives on her judicial approach. One review favorably states, "Judge Maria Puente-Porras cares to get to the bottom of the issues and do what’s best for the child. She scares me a bit but she did dig to make sure she had all the necessary information to make an educated ruling. She’s very patient & fair in my opinion." This portrayal suggests a judicial officer who is thorough, meticulous, and dedicated to obtaining all relevant facts to render an informed and just decision, particularly when child welfare is at stake. The comment "she scares me a bit" could imply a direct, firm, or assertive judicial style, indicating that she maintains strict control of her courtroom and expects adherence to procedure. Conversely, another review provides a highly critical and distressed perspective, describing her as the "Worst judge ever! Very biased and put my daughter and I in danger!" This review asserts that she "didn’t read the paperwork," "refused to look at my evidence in court," and "doesn’t give you a chance to plead your side." It further claims she "deemed me not credible" and that a different judge was ultimately required to achieve a favorable outcome after extensive effort and additional legal costs. This stark contrast in perceptions indicates that while some individuals may view her as fair and thorough, others have experienced profound dissatisfaction, particularly concerning the handling of evidence, perceived impartiality, and procedural fairness. For users of 'Nearby Lawyers,' understanding that Maria Puente-Porras is now a judge, and recognizing the varied public perceptions of her judicial style, is crucial when navigating the legal system, especially in family law matters, which is an area where she is currently known to be assigned (e.g., at the Whittier Courthouse, a significant family law facility for Los Angeles County).
From a promotional standpoint, within the 'Nearby Lawyers' category, it is imperative to clearly delineate the current status of "Maria Puente-Porras Law Ofcs." The phone numbers provided, (562) 920-0006 and +1 562-920-0006, likely correspond to contact information for her former private practice or, less commonly, a public line potentially associated with her judicial role for very specific, general inquiries, though judges typically operate through court administration. The primary "promotional information" for Maria Puente-Porras herself now stems from her public service as a Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge. Her judicial appointments, consistent assignments (such as her continuous role in family law), and participation in professional judicial organizations (like the Southeast District Bar Association, where she was publicly honored) are the forms of public recognition and "promotion" for a judicial officer. For the 'Nearby Lawyers' platform, the key promotional aspect here is transparency and accurate information dissemination: it is essential to inform users that while a listing for "Maria Puente-Porras Law Ofcs" might appear, the individual is now a judge and no longer accepts private clients. This clarification effectively manages user expectations and directs them to the appropriate legal resources for their specific needs. If the listing persists, it should be accompanied by clear advisories that "Maria Puente-Porras Law Ofcs" is a historical entity and that Maria Puente-Porras currently serves as a judicial officer. This ensures that users correctly understand they cannot retain her for legal representation but may encounter her as a presiding judge within the California court system.

Consequently, she no longer provides private legal services or accepts new clients. Her judicial approach, as reflected in public reviews, garners both positive and negative feedback, with some appreciating her thoroughness and focus on children's welfare, while others raise concerns regarding perceived bias or handling of evidence. The provided phone numbers (562) 920-0006 and +1 562-920-0006 should be understood in the context of her past practice or general public inquiry lines for the judiciary. For individuals in Bellflower seeking legal representation, they should actively seek out currently practicing attorneys, recognizing Maria Puente-Porras in her current, distinct capacity as a judicial officer within the California court system.
