I have used Maher Law Firm several times over the past few years. John is always very direct and clear in his approach. He has always delivered results all of my legal requirements. He is always busy but I would rather have an attorney that is super busy vs one that is simply looking for billable hours. Five stars across the board here!

The features that distinguish John N. Maher, Attorney at Law, are rooted in his impressive professional journey and his approach to client service. He is described by clients as "very direct and clear in his approach," a characteristic that can be highly valued in legal representation, offering clarity in complex situations. One client notes, "He has always delivered results all of my legal requirements. He is always busy but I would rather have an attorney that is super busy vs one that is simply looking for billable hours." This suggests a results-oriented approach and a commitment to achieving client objectives, even amidst a busy practice. His background as a Lieutenant Colonel in the US Army Reserve and a veteran of deployments to the Balkans and Afghanistan, along with his role as a former US Army JAG Corps prosecutor, instills a sense of discipline, strategic thinking, and tenacity in his legal work. His experience as an Adjunct Professor of Law at Northern Illinois University College of Law and Business Law at NIU College of Business further underscores his deep legal knowledge and ability to articulate complex concepts clearly. He has also successfully represented federal employees challenging removal, discipline, and demotion before the Merit Systems Protection Board (MSPB) and Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC), and secured two full and unconditional pardons from the President of the United States for combat veterans, demonstrating his high-level advocacy skills.
However, it is crucial to present an objective introduction, incorporating all available information, including less favorable feedback. One review states, "Don’t waste your time.. He will literally never call you back.. get yourself a lawyer who actually cares and respects us small people." This feedback suggests that some clients have experienced challenges with communication and a perception of a lack of responsiveness. While the previous review mentions he is "always busy," this particular feedback highlights that for some clients, this busyness may translate into perceived neglect or lack of care. It is important for prospective clients to consider this contrasting feedback and, if engaging with Mr. Maher, to establish clear communication expectations from the outset. This could involve inquiring about preferred communication methods, response times, or ensuring administrative support staff are accessible for updates.
Promotional information for John N. Maher would likely emphasize his unparalleled federal and military legal experience, his diverse skill set, and his proven track record of securing favorable outcomes for clients. His unique background as a former prosecutor, government litigator, and military officer would be a significant selling point, highlighting his strategic insights and understanding of both sides of complex legal issues. The combination of his legal practice with a family-owned funeral home suggests a holistic approach to life planning and transitions, which could be a unique promotional angle for estate planning and elder law services. His involvement in securing presidential pardons and successfully representing federal employees and contractors showcases his ability to handle high-stakes cases. While specific promotional offers like free consultations are not explicitly stated, his unique blend of experience and expertise would likely be promoted to attract clients seeking specialized and authoritative legal counsel in his distinct practice areas.
In summary, John N. Maher, located at 71 S Wacker Dr, Chicago, IL 60606, is a highly experienced and versatile attorney within the "Nearby Lawyers" category. His practice is distinguished by an extensive background in federal administrative law, military and veterans law, government contracts, criminal defense, and estate planning. Operating from a professional downtown Chicago office, he offers a broad range of services. Key features include his direct approach, a reputation for delivering results, and a unique perspective gained from his distinguished military and government legal career. However, some client feedback indicates potential challenges with responsiveness. Promotional efforts would likely highlight his unique expertise, track record of success in complex federal and military matters, and his commitment to clear, direct advocacy for his diverse clientele in Chicago.
