Tom helped us buy 2 homes and sell 1. We should have stopped after the 2nd time we used him. He does not seem to want to work with the other side if they are not responsive or are too aggressive. He seems to like the cookie-cutter sale of a home, which I guess I can't blame him. His paralegal is great. She did most of the communication. Reason for not a great review is that we felt that he did not fight for us. He knew we were in love with a certain house but we feel he did not protect us from our horrid sellers. Communication between the seller and our side was done primarily through me. I felt like I should have charged him paralegal fees for all the work I had done in order to get the sale processed. Before that sale, Tom was bullied out of a deposit that the buyer of our house had made. They backed out of our contract on their own accord, but had placed a 10k good faith deposit that they wanted the entirety back. Their lawyer bullied Tom into making us release all the money to them even though they backed out the day before closing and we had moved out into my in-laws and into storage containers. We were screwed out of living in our house until the next buyer bought our house 5 months later. He put the wrong township on our paperwork, forgot where we were moving to or from multiple times, and avoided conflict at all costs. Much of which delayed closing. Tom is a nice guy, but does not want to get involved with anything except a speedy, easy closing. I can understand that a little, but we were a family that found a home we were instantly connected to and wanted to be our forever home and it seemed like such an inconvenience to Tom and his office to get to a closing that they all wanted us to reconsider. He wasn't willing to put in the work to get us what we wanted. Fortunately, I was willing and able to step in and be an intermediary to facilitate the entire process. I will say that the sellers we worked with on our home purchase were terrible, but that is no excuse. If you foresee any problems or complications with your home purchase, look elsewhere. Family to family purchases.. use Tom.
