With a physical presence in Los Angeles, LACLJ can be reached at (323) 980-3500 or +1 323-980-3500. As an entity identifying itself as a center for law and justice, it likely aims to provide legal assistance to individuals within the Los Angeles community. For local users seeking legal support, understanding the services and client experiences associated with LACLJ is crucial.

When considering legal representation, it is important to review feedback from previous clients to gain insight into the organization's effectiveness and client care. The provided information includes two contrasting reviews for the Los Angeles Center for Law and Justice, offering differing perspectives on the services provided. One review details a significantly negative experience related to restraining orders and the handling of a sexual assault (SA) and domestic violence (DV) case, while the other expresses strong positive feedback regarding family court matters.

The negative review raises serious concerns about the handling of a restraining order request. The reviewer alleges that LACLJ was misinformed about the relevant laws, stated the client was ineligible for a restraining order, and refused to attempt to obtain one. Furthermore, the reviewer claims that LACLJ validated potential defenses of the alleged abuser instead of focusing on supporting the client. The review also includes accusations of patronizing and gaslighting behavior when the client challenged their opinion. The reviewer expresses dismay that an organization advertising services for SA and DV victims would allegedly validate abusers and demonstrate incompetence in formulating legal responses.

Adding to these serious allegations, the negative review states that the client ultimately obtained a restraining order independently, contradicting LACLJ's initial assessment. The reviewer also accuses LACLJ of victim blaming and accusing the client of being complicit in their own abuse, which reportedly necessitated weeks of therapy to recover from. Finally, the review claims that LACLJ hindered the investigation by failing to respond to emails from law enforcement in a timely manner. The reviewer concludes by criticizing the allocation of funding to an organization that allegedly fails to adequately advocate for and represent victims of abuse.

This detailed negative account suggests significant shortcomings in LACLJ's handling of at least one case involving restraining orders, sexual assault, and domestic violence. The allegations include legal misinterpretation, inadequate advocacy, victim blaming, and poor communication with law enforcement. For local users on the Nearby Lawyers platform seeking assistance in these sensitive areas of law, this review presents serious concerns about the potential quality of representation provided by LACLJ in such matters.

In stark contrast, the second review offers high praise for the staff at LACLJ, describing them as "absolutely amazing and God sent." This reviewer states that the staff went "above and beyond" to assist with ongoing family court matters and concludes by calling their service "Amazing!" This positive feedback suggests that LACLJ may provide effective and supportive assistance in family court cases, indicating a potential specialization or strength in this area of law. For local users facing family court proceedings, this review offers a positive perspective on the organization's capabilities in this specific legal domain.

The conflicting reviews make it challenging to provide a definitive assessment of the overall services and environment of the Los Angeles Center for Law and Justice. The negative review paints a picture of potential incompetence, victim blaming, and poor client interaction in the context of restraining orders and abuse cases. In contrast, the positive review highlights an amazing and supportive staff in the context of family court matters. This discrepancy suggests that the quality of service and client experience may vary depending on the specific legal issue and the personnel involved.

Given the nature of the allegations in the negative review, particularly concerning services for victims of sexual assault and domestic violence, local users seeking assistance in these sensitive areas should exercise extreme caution and consider this feedback very seriously. The accusations of legal misinterpretation, victim blaming, and failure to advocate are significant red flags.

On the other hand, the positive review regarding family court matters suggests that LACLJ may be a valuable resource for individuals navigating these types of legal proceedings. The praise for the staff going "above and beyond" indicates a potential commitment to client support and effective advocacy in family law cases.

The provided information does not offer any details about the physical environment of the Los Angeles Center for Law and Justice's office. Located on the fourth floor of a building on Whittier Boulevard, it is difficult to ascertain the atmosphere or facilities available to clients. Similarly, there is no information regarding specific features of the organization, such as language services, pro bono programs beyond their general designation as a center for law and justice, or the experience and qualifications of individual attorneys or staff members (beyond the differing experiences highlighted in the reviews).

There is also no promotional information available for the Los Angeles Center for Law and Justice in the provided data. As a non-profit or legal aid organization (implied by the nature of a "center for law and justice"), their services may be offered at reduced or no cost to eligible individuals. However, this is not explicitly stated in the provided information.

In conclusion, the Los Angeles Center for Law and Justice presents a mixed picture based on the two available client reviews. While one reviewer praised the staff's support in family court matters, the other detailed severe negative experiences and allegations of incompetence, victim blaming, and inadequate advocacy in a case involving restraining orders, sexual assault, and domestic violence. Local users on the Nearby Lawyers platform should carefully consider these contrasting accounts when deciding whether to seek legal assistance from this organization. Those seeking help with restraining orders, sexual assault, or domestic violence may want to be particularly cautious and seek additional information or consider alternative legal resources. Conversely, individuals involved in family court matters may find the positive feedback encouraging but should still conduct their own due diligence.

They are misinformed about the laws for restraining orders, telling me I wasn’t eligible for one and told me they wouldn’t even try. They kept validating my abuser’s potential defenses, when their job should have been to help me combat it. When I challenged their opinion, they patrionized and gaslit me. For shame for anyone to advertise themselves as lawyers for SA and DV when they just validate the abusers and are too incompetent to come up with responses. Sure enough they were wrong and I got one: but I had to do it myself which shouldn’t have had to happen when I have a lawyer with a signed retainer. They also victim blamed me and accused me of being compliant in my own abuse. I had to undergo weeks of therapy to recover from my own lawyer accusing me of compliancy. They also held up the investigation by failing to respond to emails from law enforcement in a timely manner. It’s a shame that funding is being wasted on an organization who quite simply fails to adequately advocate for and represent victims of abuse.

Did my DACA 2 years ago here and the lawyer Mariliz helped me with my paper work. They where efficient, helpful, and resourceful. This place goes far and beyond with serving the community in legal services COMPARED to CHIRLA which was terrible.
