  • As others have pointed out below, this is a shady firm working to collect money from whoever, whether they have the right person or not. I am not sure whether it is best to ignore them or respond because in my case I responded to let them know that they had the wrong person and they still managed to intercept my CA tax refund. I had to appear in court and explain to the judge the situation. Of course they were able to prove that I was not the person they were looking for and had the judge dismiss these phony allegations. I am not sure what is the best course of action but this is what I had to do. A complete waste of my day to prove something that I had not done or owed money for. How are they able to do this without penalty? I have no idea and I was informed that it would be several months before my tax refund is returned to me. I do suggest to contact the alleged government agencies that you owe money to to confirm that you in fact are not liable for any fines. This will confirm that you don't owe any fines and you can inform the judge and clerk of this. They will investigate this the day you appear in court and have you out of there as fast as they can. Hope this helps.
  • Got a letter from these people about a fine my brother owes from a situation from 2018. I searched up the case number to see if there's anything about this through the court system and found nothing. Very shady. Looking at all the reviews, I feel like other people are experiencing the same thing. The person running this firm must be a sob.
  • Horrible customer service!!! They sent me a letter that I owe 83.15 to the State of Colorado High-Performance Transportation Enterprise. This was for the first time I was being informed of such a debt. When I asked when it had happened the operator told me the Aug of 2018 (more than two years ago). I explained to her that at that time I was moving from Missouri to California and was not familiar with the road so it is totally possible that I have used a toll road and I just did not notice at the time. I added that I never received any letter about the billing due using the toll road so this was the first time that I was informed of this debt. The operator said that the initial billing was sent to the address of my car registration which was in Missouri that I was not living in there anymore. So I never became aware of such a bill. I said I am more than happy to pay the original billing which according to her it was ~ 13.xx dollars and waive the rest of the amount which is the fee for the late payment. I explained over and over that I moved from Missouri to California and never received any billing or letter about the amount I owe to the Colorado toll road and asked if I can just pay the 13.xx dollars as I was supposed to pay in the first place. Unfortunately, she kept saying that I need to pay the whole amount or dispute it by sending a fax or a mail to their address. I don't really understand why they want to make it so complicated?! How am I supposed to know about the amount that I owe to the Colorado toll road when I do not know about it?
  • I also received a letter saying I owe 490$ for a ticket from 4 years ago in LA and at that time I didn't even live in CA. I tried to call them and once I just got disconnected and the other time it kept saying wait for the representative. I looked up the case number and it didn't even exist.
  • Not sure why the state of CA would use this amateur hour call center but either way. Be aware, they will do whatever it takes to prolong refunds or any kind of money returns when they are overpaid or have deducted wrongfully. Both judges in CA that I saw and know about this law firm and program have said its a joke and they hate that an out of state law firm handles their traffic fines.

About Linebarger Goggan Blair

Welcome to Nearby Lawyers, your platform for accessing information about legal professionals in your area. Today, we present an introduction to Linebarger Goggan Blair, a law firm located at 515 Flower St, Suite 3500, Los Angeles, CA 90071, USA. Situated in the financial district of downtown Los Angeles, in a high-rise office building, the firm occupies a significant suite, suggesting a substantial operation. While the environment is likely a standard professional office setting, the available client reviews provide critical insights into their operational practices and client experiences that warrant careful consideration.

The client reviews for Linebarger Goggan Blair present a concerning picture, with both reviewers describing the firm's practices as "shady." One reviewer recounts a personal experience where, despite informing the firm that they had contacted the wrong person regarding a debt, Linebarger Goggan Blair allegedly managed to intercept their California state tax refund. This necessitated a court appearance where the reviewer had to prove their lack of liability, ultimately leading to the dismissal of what they describe as "phony allegations." The reviewer expresses frustration over the wasted time and the delay in receiving their tax refund, questioning the firm's ability to take such actions without penalty.

This reviewer strongly advises others who receive communication from Linebarger Goggan Blair to independently verify any alleged debt with the relevant government agency. They suggest that confirming the absence of liability with the originating agency can expedite the process of clearing one's name in court, should such action be necessary due to the firm's pursuit of an incorrect individual.

The second review details an instance where the firm contacted the reviewer regarding a fine supposedly owed by their brother from a 2018 incident. Upon investigating the case number through the court system, the reviewer found no record of it, further contributing to their perception of the firm as "very shady." This reviewer also notes the similarity of their experience to other online reviews, suggesting a pattern of concerning practices. The reviewer's negative sentiment is palpable, referring to the individual running the firm in disparaging terms.

Based on these reviews, Linebarger Goggan Blair appears to operate primarily in the area of debt collection, specifically on behalf of government entities. Their services likely include:

  • Collection of Government Debts: Pursuing outstanding fines, fees, taxes, and other debts owed to various government agencies at the state and local levels.
  • Tax Refund Interception: Taking legal action to intercept state tax refunds to satisfy alleged debts, even in cases where the debtor disputes the liability or claims mistaken identity.
  • Legal Action for Debt Recovery: Initiating lawsuits and pursuing court judgments to compel individuals to pay alleged debts.
  • Communication and Negotiation: Contacting alleged debtors via mail and phone to demand payment and potentially negotiate payment plans.
  • Administrative Processes: Engaging in administrative processes, such as wage garnishment or asset seizure, to recover outstanding debts following a court judgment.

Given the serious nature of the allegations in the client reviews, it is crucial for local users who are contacted by Linebarger Goggan Blair to proceed with extreme caution and to independently verify the legitimacy of any claimed debt with the originating government agency. It is also advisable to seek legal counsel if you believe you have been wrongly targeted or if the firm has taken actions against you without proper legal basis.

The features highlighted in the client reviews are overwhelmingly negative, focusing on alleged "shady" practices, pursuit of incorrect individuals, and actions such as tax refund interception based on potentially unsubstantiated claims. The responsiveness of the firm to disputes or claims of mistaken identity is also called into question by the first reviewer's experience of still having their tax refund intercepted despite informing the firm of the error.

There is no promotional information available for Linebarger Goggan Blair in the provided data. The client reviews serve as a stark warning rather than an endorsement of their services. Potential clients should weigh these experiences heavily when considering any interaction with this firm.

For local users in the Los Angeles area who may be contacted by Linebarger Goggan Blair, the firm's location in the downtown financial district at 515 Flower St is a point of contact. However, the strong negative feedback suggests that individuals receiving communications from this firm should prioritize verifying the debt independently and understanding their legal rights. Engaging with an attorney who specializes in consumer protection or debt collection defense may be a prudent step if you believe you have been unfairly targeted or subjected to improper collection practices.

In conclusion, Linebarger Goggan Blair, located in downtown Los Angeles, is a law firm that appears to focus on debt collection for government entities. The available client reviews raise significant concerns about their practices, including allegations of pursuing the wrong individuals and improperly intercepting tax refunds. Local users who are contacted by this firm should exercise caution, independently verify any claimed debt with the relevant government agency, and consider seeking legal advice to understand their rights and options in responding to the firm's demands. The experiences shared by other individuals suggest a need for vigilance and a proactive approach in addressing any communication received from Linebarger Goggan Blair.
