We had the worst home buying experience. Be aware of working with this woman. I never leave reviews but this is worth a first time. We first met Alisa when we inquired online about a house that we drove by. First red flag and proof of her unprofessionalism was that she pictured everything as very simple, latter we realized that she makes things look easy and simple to sell herself, things that she is probably misinformed about but makes it look like is not a big deal, when in reality there is way more to it. For example she mislead us about taxes and percentages, we had to do our own research because her advise sounded kinda sketch. If after reading this you do hire her, be prepared to do your own research just to protect yourself. Alisa didn't do much for us since the beginning, besides sending automated emails form the MSL and showing a couple houses (which we could have done by ourselves by going into Redfin or any other site) she literally just sat during the whole buying process. Her incompetence made the process extremely stressful for us, she was extremely incapable of providing knowledge and insight we wouldn't otherwise know or even where to find it. As confused as we were about the properties we were interested in, she was unable to properly educate us about the current market so we knew what to expect, but instead she started pushing us onto quickly make an offer. It even gave us the feeling that she was working for the seller and not for us, making it even more stressful. We felt really unsupported throughout the whole process but unfortunately for us (luckily for Alisa) the property we were strongly inclined for was the one we initially contacted her for, so we made an offer and waited. Throughout the whole process she didn't fulfill her obligations. After we made the offer she basically disappeared, there was always an issue to meet up with her because suddenly she became unavailable. Even when we signed the contract, we had to almost threaten her to walk away from the deal for her to show up and do her job. An agent's job is to make sure you understand the contracts you sign so that you don't get stuck in a bad deal or lose your earnest money, but Alisa was only interested in signing the deal fast for her own convenience. After all, we are very happy with our new home, we are grateful that we had a very good seller that was willing to work with us more than Alisa (our less than subpar realtor).

I just talked to Ms. Leven. Wow. What a knowledgeable, polite, honest and down to earth person she is. I learned a lot from her today. She answered all my questions and cautioned me about pit falls of line of action I was thinking to take. She educated me on pluses and minuses related to serving an eviction notice. She was kind enough to email me some forms related to my issue. If I need any future legal help, I am definitely going to call her. Keep up the great service and God bless you.

We had an absolute horrible experience working with Alisa. She is extremely rude, unprofessional and lacks basic client service skills. We should have fired her after her first call with our relator. She had the nerve to ask our realtor if she could be shared agent on the sell side for our condo because she “makes no money on these deals.” She also refused to communicate with our realtor even after I asked her several times to keep her cc’d on emails. She acted like a know it all with my realtor and bossed her around telling her she wasn’t allowed to talk to the lendor. “I am quite aware of my job responsibilities and if a mortgage broker or lender contact you you should simply state that they are free to contact counsel or the client directly. I am also a licensed real estate broker and therefore I’m also very familiar with the role of an agent and broker and a real estate transaction.” (screenshots attached of emails) During our 5 day attorney review, Alisa went on vacation. We had some issues come up during the inspection and I sent her an email asking if we could chat and she responded with “I am on vacation and literally have plans all evening.” Well Alisa, if you knew you were going to be on vacation and not available, you should have never taken us on as clients. (screenshots attached of emails) After the review, I asked her to send an updated contracted and she refused. She kept telling me to pull out a page, replace with the new one, scan in then send over to the lendors. If she had the updated contract in full, why make me go through extra steps to get to the lendor. Or why not she send to the lendor? Because she is lazy. (screenshots attached of emails) The last straw for us before firing Alisa came when our closing date changed. She was going to be on vacation again and tried making us change the date to a day that worked for her. Again, who is the client here? I would choose anyone over Alisa. She added so much stress to a situation where she should have been relieving it.

It's my first time buying a home and I am completely blown away on way that Alisa Levin, Esq. has had my back. She is very thorough and responsive. I would go through this process allover again just as long as I have her on my side. 10/10 would recommend.

The presence on "Nearby Lawyers" and other online profiles, such as Zillow and Super Lawyers, serves as a promotional tool, providing details about her practice areas, experience, and client testimonials. However, it is essential to present a balanced view of client feedback, as the provided reviews are notably contrasting. One review is highly critical, stating: "We had the worst home buying experience. Be aware of working with this woman... First red flag and proof of her unprofessionalism was that she pictured everything as very simple, latter we realized that she makes things look easy and simple to sell herself, things that she is probably misinformed about but makes it look like is not a big deal, when in reality there is way more to it. For example she mislead us about taxes and percentages, we had to do our own research because her advise sounded kinda sketch... she didn't do much for us since the beginning... she literally just sat during the whole buying process. Her incompetence made the process extremely stressful for us... she started pushing us onto quickly make an offer. It even gave us the feeling that she was working for the seller and not for us... she basically disappeared, there was always an issue to meet up with her because suddenly she became unavailable... Alisa was only interested in signing the deal fast for her own convenience." This review raises serious concerns about professionalism, communication, competence, and perceived client advocacy, suggesting a highly negative experience during a home buying process.
In stark contrast, another review states: "I just talked to Ms. Leven. Keep up the great service and God bless you." This positive review highlights knowledge, politeness, honesty, a down-to-earth demeanor, helpfulness, and a willingness to educate the client, particularly concerning eviction notices, leading to a strong recommendation for future legal help. Publicly available reviews on platforms like Zillow also show positive feedback for Alisa Levin as a real estate professional, with clients praising her as "skilled, patient and attentive attorney" in closing transactions and her responsiveness, sound advice, and honesty in business matters.
The dichotomy in these reviews suggests that client experiences with Levin Law, Ltd. and Alisa Levin can vary significantly. While some clients report highly positive interactions, appreciating her knowledge and helpfulness, others have expressed profound dissatisfaction regarding communication, perceived competence, and dedication during their legal processes. For local users considering Levin Law, Ltd., it is crucial to weigh both perspectives. The firm's specialized focus on real estate and landlord services, coupled with Alisa Levin's unique dual role as attorney and real estate broker, presents a distinctive offering in the Chicago legal market. However, prospective clients should undertake their own due diligence, perhaps by scheduling an initial consultation, to assess if the firm's approach aligns with their expectations and needs for legal representation.
