Their brochure says you have an attorney on retainer - that is not true. Their coverage sounds really inclusive until you try to use it - They do NOT perform all the "free" legal services in the contract that you qualify for; they avoid the free consultation or play phone tag afterwards until your legal matter resolves itself without them. Keep your money you'd pay for this non performing service - it's a waste of money confidence and time.

Called and asked for phone consult with my attorney, was told there are no openings in his schedule for two months and the soonest availability for one of his associates was a month away. This is the first time I needed their services in 8 years and in 8 years I have paid them over $2,000.00. Total waste of money.

About Legal Resources
Navigating the complexities of the legal system can often feel overwhelming, whether you're dealing with everyday matters or more significant life events. For residents across Virginia, having access to reliable legal assistance is crucial. This article aims to shed light on "Legal Resources," a name that frequently comes up in discussions about accessing legal support in the Richmond area and beyond.
It's important to understand that "Legal Resources" primarily operates as a provider of legal plans, rather than a traditional law firm offering direct legal services. Their model is designed to connect individuals and families with a network of attorneys who can assist with various legal needs, often with the aim of making legal support more accessible and predictable in terms of cost. This can be a compelling option for those seeking preventative legal advice or assistance with common legal issues without the worry of unexpected hourly fees.
For Virginians, the concept of a legal plan can be appealing, offering a sense of security that professional legal guidance is within reach when needed. This approach can be particularly beneficial for addressing routine legal questions, preparing important documents, or receiving initial consultations on a range of topics. Understanding how such a service works, where it's located, and what specific benefits it offers is key to determining if it's the right fit for your legal needs.
While the goal of a legal plan is to provide peace of mind and access to legal professionals, user experiences can vary. Some individuals find immense value in the ability to consult with attorneys for a predictable fee or as part of their plan benefits. Others, as seen in some public feedback, may encounter challenges with attorney availability or the scope of "free" services as they interpret them from the plan's contract. This article will provide a comprehensive overview to help you make an informed decision, focusing on the factual information available.
Legal Resources is strategically located in the heart of Richmond, Virginia, making it accessible for many residents in the greater Richmond metropolitan area and surrounding counties. Their physical address is:
830 Southlake Blvd UNIT A, Richmond, VA 23236, USA
This Southlake Boulevard location places them in a well-established commercial area, likely with convenient access from major roadways in Richmond. For those driving, the location is typically reachable via a network of local roads and highways, making it a manageable commute from various parts of Richmond and neighboring communities. Parking availability in such an area is usually adequate, though it's always advisable to confirm when planning a visit. Public transportation options in this specific commercial district might be less extensive than in downtown areas, so driving is likely the primary mode of transport for many clients.
For individuals residing in Chesterfield, Hanover, Henrico, and other counties surrounding Richmond, the location should be a relatively straightforward drive. The goal of a legal plan, however, often minimizes the need for frequent in-person visits, as initial consultations and much of the communication can typically be handled over the phone or electronically, which enhances accessibility for those further afield in Virginia. This remote accessibility is a significant advantage, allowing individuals across the Commonwealth to potentially utilize the services of Legal Resources' network of attorneys without needing to travel to the Richmond office for every interaction.
Based on the typical offerings of legal plan providers, and insights gleaned from customer feedback and general information about such services, Legal Resources aims to provide access to legal assistance across various common areas. It's crucial to understand that these services are generally provided through a network of independent attorneys affiliated with the plan, rather than directly by Legal Resources itself. While specific coverage can vary by plan type, common services often include:
- Initial Consultations: Providing a way for members to discuss legal matters with an attorney to understand their rights and options.
- Will Preparation: Assistance in drafting and reviewing basic wills, helping individuals plan for their estates.
- Traffic Matters: Legal representation or advice for minor traffic violations.
- Uncontested Divorce: Support for straightforward divorce proceedings where both parties are in agreement.
- Adoption: Guidance and assistance through the legal process of adoption.
- Consumer Issues: Advice and potential assistance with consumer disputes, debt issues (excluding bankruptcy), and other consumer-related legal challenges.
- Real Estate Matters: Consultations on real estate transactions, contracts, and property disputes.
- Document Review: Attorneys may review various legal documents to ensure clarity and protect members' interests.
- Estate Planning (basic): Beyond wills, this might include basic trusts and other foundational estate planning documents.
- Family Law (limited): While complex family law cases may have limitations, initial consultations and assistance with simpler matters might be available.
It is important for potential members to thoroughly review the specific contract and terms of any legal plan offered by Legal Resources to understand the full scope of services, limitations, exclusions, and any associated costs or deductibles. Customer feedback sometimes indicates that the perceived "free" services might be more limited than initially anticipated, or that attorney availability can be a challenge. Therefore, a detailed understanding of the plan's provisions is highly recommended.
Legal Resources, as a legal plan provider, highlights several features designed to offer value and convenience to its members. These often include:
- Access to a Network of Attorneys: Members gain access to a roster of attorneys within Virginia who have agreed to provide services under the terms of the legal plan.
- Predictable Costs: One of the primary benefits is the ability to budget for legal expenses, as many common services are covered by the plan’s monthly or annual fee, or are offered at a discounted rate. This can alleviate the financial anxiety often associated with legal issues.
- Preventative Legal Care: The plan encourages members to seek legal advice before issues escalate, potentially saving time and money in the long run. This might include quick phone consultations for general legal questions.
- Variety of Legal Areas Covered: The plans aim to address a wide array of common legal concerns, from family matters and estate planning to consumer disputes and traffic violations.
- Customer Service Support: Legal Resources typically provides a member services team to assist with connecting members to attorneys and answering questions about their plan benefits.
While these features are designed to be beneficial, it's worth noting that customer reviews sometimes mention challenges related to attorney availability within the network and the extent to which "free" services are actually delivered as per the member's understanding of the contract. Transparency and clear communication regarding service limitations and attorney access are crucial for a positive member experience.
As a legal plan provider, Legal Resources often structures its offerings as benefit programs, frequently marketed through employers, associations, or as direct-to-consumer subscriptions. Therefore, specific "promotions" in the traditional sense (like discounts on a single legal service) might be less common. Instead, their "special offers" are typically embedded within the membership structure itself, highlighting the overall value of joining their plan. These could include:
- Comprehensive Coverage at a Fixed Fee: The primary "promotion" is often the assurance of access to a broad range of legal services for a predictable monthly or annual membership fee, rather than per-hour attorney charges.
- No Deductibles or Co-pays for Covered Services: Depending on the specific plan, many core legal services might be offered without additional out-of-pocket costs beyond the membership fee.
- Enrollment Incentives: While not always publicly advertised, some plans might offer incentives for new enrollments, especially through employer-sponsored programs, such as initial grace periods or bundled benefits.
- Access to Educational Resources: Members might gain access to online legal libraries, forms, or educational materials to help them better understand common legal issues, which can be seen as an added value.
For the most current information on how to join their plans or any specific benefits currently being highlighted, it's always recommended to directly contact Legal Resources or review their official website, as offerings can evolve. Any promotional claims should be carefully cross-referenced with the detailed terms and conditions of their membership agreements.

However, as with any service, user experiences can vary.
