Lawyer Referral Services Introduce

In the "Nearby Lawyers" category, platforms designed to connect individuals with legal professionals play a crucial role. One such entity operating in Hackensack, NJ, is Lawyer Referral Services, located at 15 Bergen St, Hackensack, NJ 07601, USA. This service is often linked with the Bergen County Bar Association Lawyer Referral Service, suggesting an affiliation with a professional legal body that aims to facilitate access to justice for the local community. The purpose of such a service is to help individuals who have a legal problem but are unsure which type of lawyer they need, or how to find a suitable one.

The environment surrounding Lawyer Referral Services at 15 Bergen St in Hackensack suggests a professional and institutional setting. As it is associated with the Bergen County Bar Association, the office likely reflects a traditional and formal atmosphere typical of a legal or professional association. Such a location would aim to provide a neutral and accessible point of contact for individuals seeking legal guidance. While specific details about the interior are not available, it can be presumed that the space is organized for administrative purposes, handling inquiries, and processing applications for referrals. Its central location in Hackensack, a hub for legal and governmental services in Bergen County, enhances its accessibility for residents across the region.

The primary service offered by Lawyer Referral Services is, as the name suggests, the referral of individuals to attorneys. According to information available from the Bergen County Bar Association, this service requires applicants to complete an application and pay a $30.00 fee. This fee typically provides the client with a 30-minute consultation with an experienced attorney. The stated goal is to refer clients to an attorney who is experienced and skilled in the specific area of law that relates to their legal problem. This process is intended to simplify the search for legal representation, especially for those unfamiliar with the legal system or specific legal specializations. The service aims to bridge the gap between an individual's legal need and a qualified attorney, providing a starting point for their legal journey.

However, the features and actual client experience with Lawyer Referral Services, as gathered from user reviews, present a more nuanced picture. One recurring concern among reviewers is the perceived difficulty in obtaining a suitable referral. A user noted that despite providing "a lot of questions, specifics," the service "came back saying that they do not have anybody on their roster who practices this type of law" for two separate and distinct legal reasons. This suggests a potential limitation in the breadth of legal areas covered by their roster of attorneys, or perhaps a selective referral process. The same reviewer also found the service "evasive and refused to answer" when asked about the types of law they *do* provide referrals for, leading to a perception that they might be "just fishing for lucrative cases with no intent to provide actual referral." This highlights a significant pain point for individuals seeking genuine assistance – the expectation of a broad referral network versus a potentially narrow or opaque one.

Another critical feature, or lack thereof, is the communication aspect. A distressing review from a client involved in a hit-and-run accident described a prolonged and frustrating experience. The client, who had undergone knee surgery, expressed deep upset over a lack of communication, stating, "they don't call me I have to call them." This indicates a potential issue with proactive client updates and consistent communication, which can be particularly distressing in ongoing and sensitive legal matters, especially when significant time has passed (from October 2010 to April 2017 in this case, with the client expressing concern over what is happening with their case). While a referral service is not directly handling the legal case itself, poor communication in the initial referral or follow-up process can significantly impact a client's trust and overall satisfaction with the legal system.

From a promotional standpoint, Lawyer Referral Services, particularly when associated with the Bergen County Bar Association, would typically highlight its role in facilitating access to qualified legal counsel. Key promotional messages would likely include: "Need a lawyer? We connect you with experienced attorneys." "Access a 30-minute consultation with a qualified attorney for a nominal fee." "Simplifying your search for legal help in Bergen County." They would emphasize their connection to the legal community and the goal of ensuring that individuals find appropriate representation. However, in light of the objective reviews, any promotional material should be mindful of setting realistic expectations regarding the types of cases they refer and the level of direct client engagement. It's important for the service to be transparent about its limitations and the process for obtaining referrals.

For local users considering Lawyer Referral Services, the available information indicates that the service operates from 15 Bergen St, Hackensack, NJ 07601, USA, with a phone number of (201) 488-0044 and a mobile phone number of +1 201-488-0044. These contact details provide direct access for inquiries. Potential clients should be aware that there is typically an application process and a fee for the initial consultation. While the intent is to connect individuals with suitable legal professionals, the client experiences suggest that it is crucial for users to be explicit about their legal needs and to inquire about the scope of referrals the service can genuinely provide. It may also be beneficial for users to understand that the service's role is to *refer* to a lawyer, not to directly manage their case, and that direct communication with the referred attorney will be key to their legal process. Given the feedback, individuals might consider this service as one of several avenues for finding legal representation, keeping in mind the importance of clear communication throughout their legal journey.

They are listed under two different names and numbers when you search for attorney referrals.(they also come up under Bergen county bar association). I requested referral twice for two separate and completely different reasons and in both instances. they asked a lot of questions, specifics and then came back saying that they do not have anybody on their roster who practices this type of law. When asked, what type of law they provide referrals for - they were evasive and refused to answer. They seem to be just fishing for lucrative cases with no intent to provide actual referral.
