As a small business owner myself, I’ve never felt compelled to leave a review — but I’m truly disappointed in the legal services Kimberly provided to my husband. Throughout the process, he was treated more like a number than a client. Before one of his hearings, we requested that the opposing party's income be verified through their employer — a basic administrative task that could’ve been handled via email. Instead, we were told it would require additional time and cost. Additionally, although I submitted my income directly to the attorney, she then forwarded it to the opposing party without my consent. She asked if I was okay with it, and because I didn’t respond, she went ahead anyway — which I find entirely inappropriate. Despite my husband being consistently compliant — never missing a payment and providing everything requested — the outcome of each hearing has resulted in increased financial obligations, most recently by $700/month. There was no pre-hearing call, no meaningful preparation, and no real negotiation on his behalf. In our experience, this representation did not advocate for his best interests. If you are seeking an attorney who will fight for you, especially as a father or male client, I would strongly advise caution. This firm may not be the right fit.
I don't ever leave reviews, but I feel obligated to warn others about the abysmal experience I had with Kimberly. From the very beginning, her communication was non-existent. Over the nearly two years it took to finalize my divorce, she only initiated contact with me a handful of times. In the beginning, I was consistently calling her for updates, trying to understand legal decisions, and seeking insight into the process. But I was constantly left in the dark. What made it even worse was that I was billed for each and every phone call, whether it lasted two minutes or 30 minutes, and yet I was still left with no answers after each conversation. Same goes for all email communication. I’d ask for clarification, and all I got was vague responses or promises that were never fulfilled. Eventually, I stopped calling her, assuming she would at least reach out with updates or check in with me—and NOTHING. On top of her lack of communication, she failed to explain any legal jargon. I’m no expert in family law, but that’s exactly why I hired her—to guide me through the process and help me understand what was happening. Instead, I was left feeling overwhelmed and completely confused. Her office staff was just as rude, unhelpful, and unknowledgeable. As if that wasn’t enough, she filed paperwork incorrectly, and the court didn’t approve my request to return to my former last name. I had to go through the whole process again, refile with the court, and pay additional fees just to get this basic request approved after my divorce was finalized. That’s money I shouldn’t have had to spend, all because of her incompetence. To top it all off, she didn’t follow through on almost every promise she made at our initial consultation. Nothing she said would happen, happened. I was promised frequent updates and expert guidance, and instead, I received silence, negligence, and a completely frustrating experience. If you're looking for a lawyer who will actually work for you, explain things in plain terms, keep you informed, and ensure your paperwork is filed correctly, look elsewhere. Kimberly Prendergast was a massive disappointment and left me feeling helpless throughout the entire process. Save your money, time, and mental health, and find someone competent who actually does their job!
